Sakura's End of 2016 AMA/Opinion thread

I'm gonna sign up for this one.

Be it what you think of me as a person or what you think of my content/activity around YCM.

As a person, I think you're fine. So far, you haven't done much to otherwise suggest that I shouldn't have good things to say about you. Probably one of the few people here (if not the only one) who does their own artwork.

Activity-wise, you're doing fine in Custom Cards, especially with the project. I know I gave you the green light to start that project (or really, you could've done it regardless). I haven't seen you elsewhere, but that's probably due to me and you being in different areas of this site.

But yeah, keep it up.

ynot

Hmm, where do I go with this one?

It's been a rather...interesting...run with you (from the perspective of a staff member); both good and bad.

Granted, I have to admit that you are rather persistent in defending your beliefs (both in Debates and in the TCG area to some extent), but there's also the issue with you being abrasive towards other members who say otherwise. At the very least, you are one of the few people who keeps tabs on the OCG regularly; something that a lot of us don't really look at.

I don't have the same amount of distaste for you like other users do, but you do need to be more civil to other users in the coming year; that much is certain.

(Oh right, and posting more in Custom Cards when you reply to threads.)

Yeah, it's pretty much everywhere I hang out these days.

I do visit a tiny bit of Creative Writing, Showcase, TCG/OCG, and Misc.

I've seen a couple people that also draw but none of which remain very active, sadly.

I technically draw on the side as well, but haven't been motivated lately or have time to do it; mostly the former.

To be fair, I think most of the stuff I drew for 2016 is pretty much (rein)deer-related (with side stuff); latest one being a "grown-up" version of a certain red-nosed one. I'd post it, but it's on my other computer (and the vectorized version isn't really appealing to my tastes right now; least in the eye department).

(For a side note, that vector pic of Rudolph in my sig was originally hand drawn [well, I partially owe it to Dragoart tutorials])

Do you love me?

Er...I really don't know on this one.

Generally neutral on you.

And I?

Outside of that thread that went over the line a few months ago, you're generally fine. To be fair, haven't seen much of you lately.

Ah right, and get ready for round 2 of Postseason.

1. Karin's okay, I suppose. Nothing really stands out, though it is surprising that she and Naruto are somewhat distant relatives (if she ever found that out).

2. As for you, generally neutral. I know I saw you around during the MyBB days along with RAEG and admittedly I didn't really think much about you two at that time, but that was years ago.

I'll hop aboard the opinion train too, why not.

What are your goals for 2017?

How goes the discussion about color items, if at all? Assuming you're allowed to discuss that.

1. For the most part, you're fine. I don't really talk to you much (well, maybe outside of the GPT and some other misc. areas), but that's likely due to you being in RPs a lot of the time, a section that I very rarely go into. Then again, you're one of the few members besides me who are consistent in welcoming newbies, so there's that.

2. Let me see:

[spoiler=Stuff]

- Stop repeating classes for university; I'm already behind 1-2 years because of having to repeat certain courses (mostly engineering stuff and calculus). If I didn't have to, I'd probably be working on upper-400 level courses by now and would be a lot closer to graduating than I am now.

[Well, and also stuff that's out of my hands like time conflicts and lack of funding for more convenient classes b/c the department/university itself is terrible at money management. I need to keep 12 credits to retain full-time status, but options are getting really limited.]

- Try to be more social IRL: Basically try to talk to people more IRL instead of being a loner. Granted, I tend not to at college because some people can be rather difficult to put up with. I'm slowly working on it now that I have a part-time job (and more people to get used to).

Over here though, try to be more vocal about stuff (and yeah, more proactive in announcing matters, including when I make major rule changes).

- Get driver's license: I'm 22 and still don't have one; I have a permit, so I guess that counts to some extent. Would be nice to be independent and go out on my own, but I have some quirks that need to be taken out before I can drive alone. (I can technically drive well enough, but still need someone to keep an eye on things I can't see)

- Learn Japanese properly: Partially motivated by anime/manga (well, at least times when subbers are slow] and also because of work (basically, I see a lot of Japanese tourists at work, and would be helpful if I could converse with them properly). I can say short phrases, which is generally enough. (Most I end up saying is "(x) is over here/there")

It's a hard language because of the forms of address and dialects, but this has been something I wanted to do for a few years now, but never got the chance to do. (To be fair, my second language is actually Spanish, though I don't use it much down here outside of academics; latter being used to fill upper-level writing requirements)

3. Discussion is rather slow at the moment, as it usually is for mod stuff lately. There's not much we can do about it, except telling each other "get over here and say something". We all have lives outside this site, yes (that's why Night's gone often), but it doesn't help if we don't look at discussions and actually say something.

Well, I delivered (late, but I had things to take of; also figuring out what I'm going to write for certain people)

I'm oddly curious what your opinion of me is, nowadays.

Let's just say that my opinion of you has changed quite a bit since 2014.

Back then, I admit that your abrasiveness was a major turn off for me, especially after I got promoted to CC mod (with Saber/Zauls and Striker). There were those episodes in the past concerning certain YCM problems where I really didn't like you. To be honest, I didn't want to dislike you for the rest of my YCM career, but probably wasn't ready to try to patch things up earlier on.

(At least things got patched up at the start of this year, so that's good)

You and I still disagree on certain occasions, but at the very least, things are doing fine. Since getting promoted, you've at least contributed to the bulk of mod discussions and yeah, a lot of the old traits I remember from the past are gone.

----
I know you and I had some interaction during the MyBB days / early IP.Board (if I remember correctly), but those were likely minor things. It's been several years since then (and I can't really speak for how you were during your first stint as a mod, given I wasn't here).

Hopefully you and I can work better together in the new year (along with Gadjiltron).

Shoot

For now, you haven't done much to really attract my attention, but yeah. Looking at your post history, you come in here a fair bit (and some forays into Casual CC). Not saying that going in Miscellaneous often is a bad thing, but it does tend to give the impression that Misc-level posting is how you're going to appear as outside.

In terms of cardmaking, you should really look at the existing card pools for how design should be done (or what you need to avoid doing).

Opinion on me, please? :3

You're not really here too much, so can't say I have a lot to say.

I can say that some of us have been talking about your standing in AGM lately.
