Have we all gone insane?! Almost everyone is wind! I feel like we should stop making wind characters.

Look on the bright side, at least we'll always have favorable weather.

Also, question: what's the average age of the schools' students?

Among the high nobility (anyone close to their local king/emperor), the Academies are a destination for ages 12-17. The lesser nobles, heads of guilds, et cetera delay their kids getting in by anywhere up to seven years, as they generally need their kids to help them accomplish certain tasks.

^, basically. It's actually rather handy, since it actually gives you the ability to tell who's talking to who... assuming no two RPers choose the same text for their characters ofc.

...

Anyway, what'd be the most universal language for this setting? I'm imagining either English or French since they were the two big ones, but not 100% sure :/

English, French, and Latin are pretty big at this point, the latter mostly with Catholics (all the European countries except Byzantium at this point), the former two thanks to trading.

Arabic and Mandarin would also be big among traders, given the sheer wealth of stuff in Mali and the Ottoman Empire at this point.

In this alternate world, given the free flow of trade going on, essentially everyone is multilingual to be able to improve their standing as much as possible, be it English dukes learning Mandarin to assure the quality of their tea or Japanese daimyo learning French to instruct their warriors how to use muskets.

[spoiler=The Mute Zulu (WIP)]Member Name: Tinkerer

Character Name: Ndaba kaZulu (pronounced: NN-duh-buh)

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance: *See the typical garb of Zulu warrior* Ndaba is a stocky man at 6’ and roughly 200 lbs. of wiry muscle. For casual wear, he would prefer to wear his spotted cheetah loincloth and wears a sown-together lion mane along his upper body. At the school, he has traded for some heavier wool clothes as the Isle is quite a bit cooler than he is used to, though he still wears the mane. As a prince, he also adorns his arms with gold ornaments. He walks without shoes and with a bit of a crouch; it is a prowling habit that he had never gotten over and therefore often surprises others despite his size and unusual clothes. On his hip he has a small jar of sand from his homeland which he uses to help communicate with others (See Bio). Finally, he carries his biconvex shield and gold-adorned spear almost everywhere.

Species: Were-wolf

Alternative Forms: His “wolf” form has his face elongate and the mane that he wears grows black and covers his torso. He loses his opposable thumbs, and grows claws instead. The loincloth that he wears is usually loose enough that even with the extra mass gained by his transformation, it usually stays put. He still walks on two legs. Depending on the moon’s phase, his fur in this form could be longer or shorter. Oddly, during this transformation, he is able to produce howls and barks… which can form spells. Because of this, he can cast more spells without having to concentrate as much on each of them individually.

Birthday: November 25

Magical Mastery: Hex in Water, Menuri in Earth/Wind, Seszen in Light/Dark (last two are less for active use, more used as passive magical power: i.e. gauging the mentality of others. See Bio.)
Under the full moon, he has been known to break into Kasa-level Water spells and Raga-level Earth/Wind spells.

National Origin: A prince of the Zulu tribe

[spoiler Personality (WIP)] Honestly, I'd say this is optional, but forum rule. So, keep it short and sweet, yo. A paragraph is just fine, any more than that is really trying too hard. Spoiler this, please, because honestly I don't care- your personality will likely leak into your bio, and will be represented in the way you roleplay.

Bio: Again, keep this one pared down, but I might actually read these. So, go nuts.
[spoiler Bio stuff to include…]
• Mute
• Usually communicates via pictures and gestures
• Second son of the current chief
• Every chief needs to have some Light and Dark magic. Was a tried and true war tactic (allowed the chief to be able to direct and win battles via morale and cut losses when things got too dangerous) and is a tribal secret. First son born in June, so he could not be chief.
• He has 2 younger twin sisters

Miscellaneous Info: His sisters made a many-colored braid for him to put in his hair. Where Ndaba takes off and puts away everything else, he never removes the braid, either wearing it in his hair or attaching it to his spear. It reminds him of home and the people he will return to lead. Gets extremely upset if it goes missing (read: gets Hulk mad)
