That's normal. Truman just thought the A-bomb was a child's toy

FDR didn't realize that eventually he would die and should have left after number 3... His New Deal was terrible and the only thing that kept our country in control was WWII....

Because I was asked to make this topic.

Nothing more than the government sucking up to their money makers and continuing to take away our rights.

Discuss.

After extensive study, I have come to conclude that this law is not made of bullshit, and rather is simply made out of paper.

And its not going to pass, sites like Facebook make big dough and corporations pretty much always win against the law.

Well it's better than what Reagan did, accusing the public and saying "You public keep blaming the government for your misfortunes, open your eyes and look at yourselves."

Then making the 80's one of the most morally bounded decades in US history... Guy had alzheimers in his own presidency...

Clear and Present Danger doctrine.

tl;dr The Surpreme Court can completely ignore the amendments (aka our rights) if the country is in clear and present danger. We are currently in a (never ending) war on terrorism.

Our government is not perfect. At all. Other countries have a constitution that's awesome an is younger than ours (coughjapancough) and they do awesome. Why is it our government has to be the corrupted one?

Unless the government intends to turn the structure into a dictatorship

not all governments are that easy to overthrow, you know

I bet that's exactly what the Romans thought. I think with enough people, resources and advanced enough technology, the U.S. government could be put into disorder at the least. Though I don't hope that happens, I personally believe our government is semi-competent.

oh please, you really think the government cares about us?

You need to watch the film John Q, Renji.

Once you watch that, you'll see otherwise

The problem, people vote for the government in America. If they're smart, they will vote out the people who want to put the law into effect and vote in the people who don't like the law at all.

The problem is being smart...

yeah and a lot of people don't vote because they feel the government does not care about them at all
[/quote]
Which if they feel that way, they should vote for the people they do feel care about them.

See, we people SHOULD be able to exhibit some control over the government. The problem is people seem to forget about that.
