April 2014 Banlist Speculation Thread

Recommended Posts

Ok done

2 cards that need bans?

I honestly don't see why you would ban Limiter removal, except for unbanning cyberstein... which creates some kind of paradox

Uhh... i guess thats kinda offensive language or something?

I guess Gigaplant is a tad valid but he kinda sacked those cards. Valid in the deck, that is....not valid for a hit.

Limiter Removal is being widely debated as it promotes sacky OTKs. Exodia is Exodia.

Hmm that might be true, it looked tier 0 for a while in that vid.
Limiter Removal could be banned, but limited might be a better thing to do to it...

by your statement we should unban mind master because no one uses psychics?

I don't see it hurt, but i guess it allows infinite loop, thats why it was banned in the first place, right?

He did.

oh god why do i think this wasn't such a great idea

because dgz is a competetive duelist website and like they may or may not tell you that most of your choices are really bad because you are basically unbanning everything

This topic began with a serious debate on Stratos & Trish unbanning, so might as well delve in that.

Trish: Why? Why would anyone even try and think of arguments of bringing this back? Let us for a moment forget that there are decks that abuse it so hard, let us forget that Agents have most their stuff at 3 and can still do some serious damage with it; forget all that. This is a much more pressing question: in what reality - fictional or not - is Trish a balanced card for the game state? It's an easily abusable, easily splashable Level 9 Synchro that gets rid of 3 goddamn cards - cards that might change the entire scope of the game. How - in what way, shape, or form - is that good for a balanced game state that Konami is trying to bring to the game? In all frankness, if this comes back, I will utterly lose what little shred of dignity I have for Konami.

Stratos: Again; why? Considering that Konami is hellbent on stopping decks that go into some serious loops, among which I am confident Mermails and Bujins will be most important, why would you want to bring back the card that just brought loops to a new f***** level? I must agree with many on this issue: Stratos deserves getting banned long ago. No amount of Hero Lives will stack up to the sheer ravaging loop that one copy of Stratos can create.

Other than those two, I only have archetypes in mind that might get hit, but no specific cards: Mermails, Bujin, Geargia. It would suffice to say that the main cards should be hit, such as Geargiarmor, Yamato, and something along the lines of Abysslinde / Marksman / Megalo... eh, f*** it, ban the whole goddamn deck - that is the sheer hatred I have for the loopy mess that is Mermails.

PS. Dragon Rulers. Yeah, that's an obvious right there - slash them in half and never bring them back.

Also, since Konami is trying to bring back a balanced game state, anyone up there with me in the hope clouds that Final Countdown / Burn / Exodia mini-engine cards might be hit. Yeah? Maybe? Hopefully?

I think most of what you said was valid except a bit of this. Fire Fists kinda need a hit. Yamato....lol at this but hear it out....is not the key to the deck anymore post PRIO. Well this may be an exaggeration but reliance on Yamato severely drops compared to pre PRIO. Mermails kinda need to lose Sphere the most, I'd say.

Hmm, why would they hit Burn in general?
Just hit the burn decks that are doing too good, just let the weak ones go...

I can agree on pretty much anything, besides stratos because cashnami wants to make money.

It's a freaking company, of course it once to make money, enough. I still don't see them doing it though.

And hell man by banning Stratos they simply redirect where the money is being spent. It doesn't disappear- the people of this game buy a ENTIRE new deck which is worth more than ONE Stratos will ever be. It occurs to me that this doesn't make complete sense but it does in my head =P
Put simply- they make more money by banning hell like this.

Only hit the good burn decks? ALL Burn decks ARE Burn decks and the WHOLE concept should go to hell.

I quite dissagree with all burn decks should go to hell, as i used to main burn myself.
I don't have problems with limiting the nurse monster and hitting chain burn some more so it can't get up.
With XYZ monsters Burn is weak nowadays.
Hmm yeah thats true, imo they should release a totally op pendulum monster which can only be found ghost rare or something like that, imagine the money they will make...

Teus to 1 seems the logical hit for Mermail seeing as it's pretty much the only one you can't search, plus Teus is arguably the most important card in the deck as it discards only 1 (often you only want to be discarding 1), gets you to Pike which is probably the 2nd most important card in the deck and then sets up really easy rank 7 (Gaios) plays, especially with Tidal, not to mention if you're playing 1 Undine 1 Controller you can make Leo. Sphere deserves a hit 2nd, because it does an awful lot and has a lot of versatility being able to get both beaters and Pikes. I think original OCG hits were pretty good, although Dragoons deserves the hit as well and Diva deserves a hit for arguably different reasons (it allows Mali to be at 3).

I thought the Undine Controller build sucked?

I could see Teus AND Sphere, now that I think about it.

Hmm, sorry for doubleposting.
Anyways, i think they should hit all meta decks in preperation for ARC V, but ARC V cards will take a while to be released in TCG... so i guess we won't have major changes this banlist, like for example my suggestions.

What i mean is i have ran all forms of burn, and its just weak compared to actual meta decks, it doesn't really need to be banned or anything

But Exodia is freaking weak too

Just because it doesn't always win doesn't mean it needs to stick around

with that logic we'd have self destruct button and last turn @3

Certain builds run 1 and 1, especially now Leo exists and Controller is no longer a hideous dead draw. It allows you to get a 1-card out to Ophion that doesn't rely on you having Pike + Infantry, and getting Megalo/Diva/Marksman to hand is still not bad.

Exodia has a way too big OTK rate, i have yet to see somebody score an OTK with non-nurse burn..
Burn is just a general mechanic in cardgames (Mage in Hearthstone for example)...
Its normal, just because its annoying doesn't mean it needs to be banned
