April 2015 Banlist Discussion/Prediction

Recommended Posts

My predictions and thoughts:

New Forbidden:

Dimensional Fissure

Macro Cosmos

Τhe worst Anti-Meta in the game and now we have Ritual Beasts which is the only deck that can main them. There is MST out there but this is not a reason to keep these terrible cards in the game. So If you wonder why D Fissure and Macro Cosmos would be banned because of Ritual Beasts, just remember the story with Return from the Different Dimension and Dragon Rulers.

New Limited:

Cyber Stein: I believe that even this card would be at 2-3, almost no one would use it. For now, lets test it to 1 to see what will happen. I think nothing will happen.

Tribe Infecting Virus: You just spend your Normal Summon to discard 1 card to destroy 1 type of monsters, then what? Even Mermails would not run this. They can do much more things/combos with Pike or Undine. And this card is not searchable in Mermails.

Dragon Ravine: This card was banned because of the Dragon Rulers. But Dragon Rulers got their hit too so its time to rise Dragunitys again.

.

Skill Drain: Qliphorts can replace it with their Re-Qliate or the upcoming card Lose a Turn. Even Skill Drain gets Limit/Ban, they will remain competitive as they are now.

Ofc, all the reprinted cards in the Prem. Gold with their new errata as Sinister Serpent, Crush Card Virus, Temple of the Kings etc.

New Semi-Limited:

Deep Sea Diva: Even Semi or unlimited, Mermails will not run Diva again, the Synchro Season has ended and XYZ are more powerful.

Thunder King Rai-Oh: If we want to have more chances to Speed-Low this meta, yes Rai-Oh x2 its a good start.

Gladiador Beast Bestiari: the current meta is very quick and this card (at 2) will not lead Gladiators to top.

Saqlifice: or Storm Limited

No Longer on List:

Glow-Up Bulb, Goyo Guardian, Chaos Sorcered, Tragoedia

generic ritual monster decks aren't usable anyway. Point is moot.

Maybe they are pretty bad, but surely it would be better (balance wise) to hit the cards that would have the least impact on the decks which aren't OP? As in to hit the actual Nekroz cards rather than generic support because hitting the Nekroz support won't hurt other Ritual decks.

Eh, the generic Ritual Supports are ticking time bombs anyway. Due to what they are, they'll surely break something in half sooner or later. Even if it pretty much castrate most other ritual decks, it's a small price to pay ultimately. (Then again, I'd argue rituals is an unsalvageable mechanic anyway if they're at the point of relying on cards like this for the mechanic as a whole to be playable).

And there's no way in hell Konami is going to damage their THSF sale by hitting the actual nekroz cards.

Rekindling and Debris Dragon reprints in Return of the Bling are making me wonder if Konami's going to unlimit or at least semi-limit those cards. I don't see any reason to include them in that set (other than Debris finally getting that much-speculated errata) with them being barely relevant nowadays, specially with the newest Gold Series installment pandering so much to the meta. That makes me hope Spirit finally leaves the list much like Rooster did in the OCG - it's not as if they could cause any harm to today's meta.

I think people don't realize this is the actual issue. Back when Rituals weren't that great, cards like Manju, Senju, etc, were completely ok because at the end of the sugar coated rainbow, you weren't getting to far. Later on, we got Rituals to be functional, and now these cards will have to go because of it. The same thing happened with Super Poly, and I predict it will also happen with Unions and Combination Attack eventually. Konami once tried to hold such cards back by making said mechanics be able to function without em being super broke, but doing so made them terrible. Now they are getting what they deserve, but in return, they gotta take away their generic power, which becomes more so for the future then the past. It hurts at times, but eventually you realize the chain reaction and sometimes, it just had to happen

My predictions:

Forbidden:

Snatch Steal (Still pretty stupid.)

Limited:

Everything with new Errata (Crush Card, Sinister Serpent, ect.)

Graff, Malenbranche of the Burning Abyss (Probably the best thing they can do without hitting Dante or Tour Guide.)

Manju or Preparation of Rites (I really feel Nekros need a token hit, and either or both of these would be a good way to hit them without touching the archetype.)

Saqlifice or Qliphort Scout (They need a hit but not sure which one would be the best.)

Semi-LImited:

Debris Dragon (Return of the Bling reprint.  And the decks it works in aren't doing anything.)

Thunder King Rai-Oh (Most likely not, but will slow down Nekroz without actually hitting them.  3 is too much.)

Rekindling (Return of the Bling reprint.  And FF aren't a thing.  Would like Spirit to 2 but this is more likely.)

Unlimited:

Chaos Sorcerer (Who runs this?)

Hieratic Seal of Convocation (Hieratics aren't even a thing.)

Ugh, all I see is you guys wanting generic cards being hit which will hurt most decks and probably won't do s*** to the actual meta.

Banned:

Snatch Steal - Even though this is almost impossible considering that it got unbanned last format, this f***ing goddamn card is a gamechanger itself. And don't come with your "hurr mst is a card oh im rtarded i have twister" arguments, because on most cases you tend to use such cards on Vanity's, Skill Drain, Qliphort Scout or Macro Cosmos/Dimensional Fissure.

Raigeki - PLEASE. As much as I love this card, it hurts as much as Snatch Steal does. Dark Hole at 2 was enough.

Macro Cosmos - The actual game has Ritual Beasts and Yosenjus maining this card non-stop, and they can go like ggnore because it has no drawbacks on them.

Newly-limited:

Skill Drain - A necessary hit for Qliphorts, since Re-Qliate is a thing now, they don't need any more "hey let me stop you from playing the game" cards.

Nekroz of Unicore - Seriously, the only deck that isn't heavily dependant on an Extra Deck negates the effects of most boss monsters because they are from there. Also its hand effect is utterly retarded.

Nekroz of Brionac - Brionac > Clausolas > Mirror > Trishula > ??? = ggwp.

Preparation of Rites - You were never this powerful. But Nekroz has corrupted you.

Vanity's Emptiness - Please stop the bullshit and hit this hateful card. If they keep hitting random cards (rip Moralltach) without reasons this game will be about which player can stop the other from playing the game.

El Shaddoll Construct - If they hit Nekroz, they need to hit Construct. I love Shaddolls but this is just as fair.

Giant Trunade - Not everyone in this world wants to run Denko. Make it happen pls.

Castel, The Skyblaster Musketeer - Rank 4 spam for days. Too strong apparently.

Newly Semi-Limited:

Nekroz Cycle - I doubt Anomalilith will become a thing soon. And this is pretty much a DDR or CoTH.

El Shaddoll Fusion - Same thing about Construct: If Nekroz get hit, Shaddolls must get hit to a certain, fair degree as well.

El Shaddoll Winda - I don't really see how this would hurt Shaddolls as they are already dead. But whatever.

Artifact Moralltach - The real issue with this card was Artifact Sanctum. And with the current meta, this isn't that much of a "threat" anymore.

Artifact Sanctum - Read above.

Manju of the Thousand Hands - This card is too powerful even for something that isn't Nekroz.

Saqlifice - Hello I can search another Scout if I die.

Qliphort Scout - Hello I can search Saqlifice no problem.

Reinforcement of the Army - Hello I can halp your Nutellaknights and HEROs.

Wind-Up Magician - Because rip Wind-Ups

Genex Ally Birdman - It was never his fault, I blame Divine Wind.

Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En - Don't hate. I'd actually like to see this in the meta.

Book of Moon - Don't h8.

Burial From a Different Dimension - Too much banishing s*** and the only thing to recover our banished stuff besides Miracle Dig is this AT 1.

Solemn Warning - Please make it happen.

Torrential Tribute - WE NEED MORE DESTRUCTION.

Bottomless Trap Hole - Why not?

Newly Unlimited:

Ojama Trio - Needs more anti-meta?

Chaos Sorcerer - Seriously, who uses this card whatsoever?

Tragoedia - This one can be a good one.

Please keep in mind I'm just voicing out my opinions even though I completely disagree with yours regardless of what you haven't said yet.

@Broke: Yeah, my mistake on that.

Might as well give my thoughts on the TCG thing (even though I probably won't be affected too much by it)

Going to predict Rulers getting hit also, like they did for OCG. However, we don't have OERD and that new Red-Eyes Xyz right now, so can't really say.

Although, we still have 11 / Dracossack running around, so need to remember this part.

Same goes for Nekroz, although I'm having some doubts about it, considering that they released Secret Forces only last month. But yeah, some pieces do need to be hit; but enough so they can still function properly without screwing crap up. (I can say this with certainty after a lot of matches with that one I got fixed over here).

On that note, Denko MIGHT get hit because of them, but we'll just have to see.

Vanity's might go to 1 also; I've heard some people on other places say that it should be banned; but limiting it is enough. (It's a floodgate, yes, but there are a number of ways around it, so it's not impossible to get rid of).

I would say hit Tool to 1 so Qlis can't keep searching, but since I haven't played against the Deck lately; can't say if that's really the problem or if their support cards have more of an impact.

@Enjoyable

I think the reason Konami hit Moralltach to 1 and kept Sanctum at 3 was because they thought that was the best way to hit the like 3 people who still run Pure artifacts as little as possible.

Being one of those 3 people I would prefer Sanctum to stay at 3, but Moralltach can come up to 2.  I really wouldn't care.  Moralltach is like Infernity Archfiend in my opinion.  3 is too strong and abusable.  1 makes the parent deck still kinda playable maybe but nowhere NEAR as strong as it should be.  2 would be fine, but iffy.  It's just a weird gray area.

guys if you take Premium Gold into account it could mean we could have CED & Warning back at 2 with their gold rare reprints, like how Konami is making the errata versions of classic stuff so it can come off the list.

I could see Warning or one of the old staples come back to 2, and if Warning is getting another reprint, why not. Though I would prefer to see Compulsory at 2 of the four cards in question.
