3 Level 12 monsters
If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 3 "Super Quantal Mech Beast" Xyz Monsters with different names from your Graveyard. This card gains theseeffects, based on the number of Xyz Materials with different names attached to it. ● 2 or more: Once per turn, during either player's Main Phase: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; shuffle 1 card on the field into the Deck. ● 4 or more: It is unaffected by card effects, except "Super Quant" cards. ● 6 or more: Your opponent cannot add cards from the Deck to the hand by card effects.

I acquired this card recently when I bought a box of Wing Raiders and I quickly noticed that it's supposed to be a Power Ranger/Super Sentai robot. Like the robots in said shows it is created when multiple giant robots combine, i.e. the 3 Super Quantal Mech Beasts. Magnaliner is the body, Aeroboros is the arms and wings, and Grampulse is the legs.

Back in the day this card might have been a fusion monster or one of those fusionesque effect monsters like Gate Guardian and Valkyrion the Magna Warrior. But it's a pretty kickass Xyz Monster even if it takes some doing to bring him out, needing either 3 level 12 monsters or by using his corresponding field spell, Super Quantal Mech Ship Magnacarrier. I know one of the quickest ways of bringing him out is but using the Super Quantum pilots, Red Layer, Green Layer, and Blue Layer who are homages to the Power Rangers/Super Sentai themselves, and some liberal use of Pendulum Summoning.

But is there a more effective way of getting him out and, if so, is he worth it? He gains more effects depending on how many materials he has and each of them are quite useful in their own way. Also, if you combine him with the trap card Super Quantal Mech Sword - Magnaslayer he becomes and unstoppable wrecking machine.

The Org, wiki, and DevPro have had a lot of trouble getting the proper card text for this thing; and as such I've always run into problems with understanding how it works (like one translator missing the fact that his spin only works during the Main Phase); but the key thing is until now I was sure that he gained effects based on the number of different Super Quantum cards attached as materials.

Now that I know for sure it's just number of different materials, I have to ask

Why TF have I not been summoning Granpulse with PK's included for additional mats?!

is there any easy out for this aside from UTL and dark rebellion?

Tech in the Green SQ Xyz or the Red one (if you can make it) and bam, problem solved.

OT: So apparently this thing won't let you draw by card effects either. Which is super annoying.

Kaijus

well that's true but.....it is worth teching a kaiju just for this?

ohhh good idea, the green one is generic R4.....UTL can be the bait, then the green mech flip it face-down

... Why?

Why not bait with the green one then go into UTL? That gives you more value without needing even more devotion to get over it. Especially since UTL makes it not float.

Dark Rebellion isn't a realistic out as Magnus won't be paired with another monster, in the rare cases it does (rare as it usually requires Alphan hitting Red Layer) it will most likely be paired with Rafflesia/Aero/Magnus (with respective pilots)

Note in the event Magnus is paired with an Xyz, any non Kaiju out is an autoloss to begin with (even the kaiju decreases in value, max value of kaiju is singleton Magnus boards)

As for multiple Rank 4s baiting Magnus, I can't really think of many non pendulum decks that can Rank 4 multiple times without drawing Instant as well (it's usually correct to hit the Normal Summon to begin with rather than wait for them to R4). What usually does happen is 6 material Magnus drops which get the shuffle baited so the material counts drop to 5, where they can play ygo again

Number 8 Genom Heritage Im positive works on this card.

Yes, because detaching doesn't affect the monster itself, and then it loses all its immunity with its Materials.

Wasn't really asking if it works or not, was asking if it was worth using atm. Sure, confirmation was nice, but I already assumed it does, so I was wondering why nobody brought it up.

because encore is an often forgotten card.

The percentage of a 3-of you are likely to side in for Magnus is a constant, if we look at the current outs that have been mentioned we can safely assume they are mutually exclusive (I doubt anyone is going to run 6 Magnus outs ie. 3 Kaiju 3 Encore) therefore you can conclude that X, Y, and Z's viability (for sake of example Kaiju, Xyz Encore, Cyber Dragon) will be a comparative one.

Xyz Encore and Kaiju are pretty similar since they still leave you with a threat you need to out afterwards (Kaiju: itself as well as triggering Magnus's float ability / Xyz Encore would still leave a 3600 beater up you would have to Castel/Utopia the Lightning to remove)

Xyz Encore is pretty narrow even if it is a little better than Kaiju vs Magnus, factoring in the timeframe when it was "popularized" as an Infinity out (barely saw play in that regard) as opposed to a Kaiju which would "answer any if not similar threats already" so you can kinda just assume that Gameciel is the better card and will be played before Encore.

There's also Cydra which shares the same unsearchable status as the above, putting you in a similar position as the Kaiju/Encore where you have a threat to deal with, but you can answer it via Utopia the Lightning.

[of course this isn;t the case for every deck as not all decks are Rank 4, ie Kaiju would most likely be the better card in Kozmo as opposed to Cydra]

gotta say, encore does remove magnus from the boad, so it does get rid of the 3600 beater. on the other hand, remember that after removing the materials, when it then removes the monster, it places the materials used for the summon on the board. mening that you'll more often than not end up facing 3-5 comparatively smaller monsters, all probably capable of triggering floater abilities.

it's still an interesting method to say the least.

Compare to Apoqliphort Towers:

Cannot be Special Summoned. Requires 3 "Qli" Tributes to Normal Summon/Set. If this card is Normal Summoned/Set, it is unaffected by Spell/Trap effects and by activated effects from any monster whose original Level/Rank is lower than this card's current Level. All Special Summoned monsters lose 500 ATK and DEF. Once per turn: You can make your opponent send 1 monster from their hand or their side of the field to the Graveyard (their choice).

Ok, so Towers is slightly easier to get out, since you can always search him out late game and then he's basically a win condition. On the other hand, Towers wastes hand space, is usually run at 1 anyway, and only really made as a last resort, considering how he has similar conditions to a God Card.
Great funking magnus, on the other hand, can be easily made turn 1, what with many of their cards being searchable or special summonable. You don't even need to summon him with 6 materials for him to be threatening. He's got ridiculously high stats, incredible removal, and stuns that don't even let you search for outs.
What am I even supposed to do against this thing? Unless you're a bad player, you'll be careful with your materials and might not even get below 4, meaning it's a towers with more ATK and better removal.

Another thing, Towers is banned. I won't try and justify towers, but I can try and disapprove the existence of this card.
Like, seriously, if this thing hits the field, what do you do? You can't search or draw, which means no Dracopals, Monarchs, Mirror, and in some cases Kozmo, and if you summon anything, he can just spin it back if he's really concerned, which would probably be at a point where you just can't really search anymore. Good luck getting a 3700 beatstick without searching or drawing.
And don't even say it's not hard. I know people summon this thing without sweating. The first time I fought this deck, this thing came out turn 1. I could do nothing.

On the bright side, there's always bricking.

> Towers only made as a last resort

Yeah that's why Towers turbo defined a format.

If Towers was inconsistent and a last resort it wouldn't be banned, it was a win condition, like you said.

True. if it were a last resort the deck would have other name, the point of an x card turbo deck is that you get it out with little to no effort.

There is a difference between a towers being a "tech" and dedicating the whole deck to him

Ironically, towers is another possible out to magnus (asuming it already shuffled something back)

But yeah what was the point of baning towers if you are going to make a better version of him.

Ok but that was before wavering eyes and tbh Qliphort is just plain bad

Hopefully it won't stick around too long is all.
