Ryusei the Morning Star Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 Super unnecessary, but Gaia isn't outclassed now, and GUB is still an amazing earth tuner Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~~ Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 The OCG surely looked at the TCG to see the absolute wreckage that Goyo Guardian was making of the metagame. They wisely held off from unbanning its degenerate arsehole until it was safely errata'd such that a certain tuner would be required to access the supreme power of what is still, surely, the best Level 6 Synchro ever made. Sleepy Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 If we were still in the Synchro era, this was the way Goyo should have been from the beginning to give it a sort of give & take with other Leve 6 Synchros other than "Gaia doesn't fall for Fiendish Chain". If they ever make a cube format like the Battle Pack series again and decide to include it, it'll be pretty fair. Though speaking of the real world, this was probably the most unnecessary change out of all of them. It's not like Goyo was even being considered. Big ATK stats are less of an issue with every coming generation of the game, and now that Synchros are not the dominant deck, now that we have other good Level 6 generic Synchros that can give it a run for its money, and now that there's a widely popular mechanic that doesn't go to the Graveyard when destroyed by it, it is more nerfed than ever. evilfusion Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 ...what's the errata? ...oh, the EARTH Tuner bit. Just...why? Goyo isn't even that good anymore. And they errata'd Brio, so it's like "cool, here's the banned Synchros back, enjoy your Level 6 Synchro pool again. Except Goyo. He's too good to be generic. But Brio's not!" Blake Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 This card is pretty terrible, outside of beating, and I still don't get why the OCG is terrified of it. Super unnecessary, but Gaia isn't outclassed now, and GUB is still an amazing earth tunerGaia wasn't outclassed. Infernoids and rando non-Effect support like Emeral saw to that. The latter half is more technical, but they had already corrected the design space. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Blake Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 Tele-DAD was a format, a generic lv 6 crossing the 2500 barrier is just silly design The decks can need it can still run it at the end of the dayThat isn't a modern format. It was good then. Don't make points that are irrelevant to the discussion. No decks need it. It isn't good. Xyz and Pendulum are, largely, useless with it, and you're going to see a lot of those. But, Kin-TeleDAD did left a bad taste in people's mouth, and we only need to look at TER too see that Konami holds grudges. In most decks it outclasses Gaia types, but that's not a great reason to errata a card. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Darj Posted December 14, 2016 Report Share Posted December 14, 2016 When I read the title I half-hoped the errata was removing the "sends it to the Graveyard" condition from the effect.Instead, it was nerfed, when it wasn't really doing anything in the TCG metagame, so I'm puzzled on why OCG took this decision. Ryusei the Morning Star Posted December 18, 2016 Report Share Posted December 18, 2016 Small errata guys, it doesn't need to destroy by battle. No idea how to utilize that though. There may be synchro material that give cards the stick effect maybe Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
The Warden Posted December 18, 2016 Report Share Posted December 18, 2016 The issue with Guardian isn't how it destroys something, just that said something has to go the the Graveyard. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
