We finally got Scale 1 and 8 Magicians that don't suck or have painful restrictions attached.  Discuss.

Just having a generic Scale 1 and 8 is nice, them being a part of an Archetype and them being searchable by Blue Dragon Summoner and Summoner's Art is even better. Their effects, while not amazing, are still decent enough, and can have their uses, and putting a Pendulum Monster in the Graveyard can have its own uses as well.

The info on the other 2 Magicians has been added, and that Pendulum Tuner is a doozie.

Kiryuu no Majutsushi / Noble Dragon Magician
Fire Spellcaster / Pendulum / Tuner / Effect
PS5 LV3 700/1400
Pendulum Effect: (1) If you do not control a “Magician” card in your other Pendulum Zone, destroy this card.
Monster Effect: Cannot be used as a Synchro Material, except for a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster. If the other Synchro Material(s) is not an “Odd-Eyes” monster, place this card at the bottom of the Deck when you use it as a Synchro Material. (1) If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 7 or higher “Odd-Eyes” monster you control; have that card lose 3 Levels, and if it does, Special Summon this card.

Senryuu no Majutsushi / Peasant Dragon Magician
Wind Spellcaster / Pendulum / Effect
PS2 LV6 2100/1400
Pendulum Effect: You can only use the Pendulum Effect of “Peasant Dragon Magician” once per turn. (1) If you control a “Magician” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can add 1 face-up “Magician” or “Odd-Eyes” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand, except “Peasant Dragon Magician”.
Monster Effect: You can only use the monster effect of “Peasant Dragon Magician” once per turn. (1) If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 “Magician” Pendulum Monster or “Odd-Eyes” monster in your Graveyard, except “Peasant Dragon Magician”; add it to your hand.

well this one is kinda underwhelming as a pendulum....and very limited as a tuner....you must use it with odd-eyes to synchro every turn, after the first synch you can only summon lv 10+ to keep this in extra....as its effect from grave...you can make level 7 dragon....but with this being fire....basically clear wing is the only good one you can summon  (and probably this tuner is what will yuya use to summon clear wing later in the anime)

too many drawbacks...

this one is good, can add high scale magician to complement for this, and with that generic scale 8 this can make insta-generic pendulum setup

monster effect is ok, if PSed can bring back pendulum you use for xyz in grave

All useful, finally we can make the performapal + scale 8 mage pendulum zones, if only the tuenr would be a dark monster, so that dragococytus would be summonable, oh well "only" trident dragon (and ascension sky dragon).

Trident requires Dragon-type tuners... Hopefully we get more Dragon Synchros in the future.

These are cool and all... But I don't want them. I just want Creation/Destruction/Odd-Eyes Rebellion in the TCG.

You don't have to worry about that; Those are going to arrive here much faster than the new guys.

These are so cool.

Granted, a generic Scale 1 and 8 with no restrictions as Normal Monsters is a bit worrisome.

The Pendulum Tuner fascinates me, though. It kills itself if you aren't using other Magician Pendulums, and it's a Scale 5. It can only Synchro Summon Dragon Synchros (like we have a shortage of those), and goes to the bottom of the Deck if you didn't Synch with Odd-Eyes, which...is actually a good idea. The first Pendulum Tuner NEEDS to be like this, because even short-sighted people should be able to see that recurring Tuners and non-Tuners is very dangerous.

And it has an effect that if you control an Odd-Eyes, you can reduce its Level by 3 and SS it from the hand or Graveyard. Well, Odd-Eyes is Level 7 and this is Level 3. Decrease Odd-Eyes by 3 and you'll have a Level 3 + Level 4 = Level 7 = Clear Wing. Beautiful.

Peasant Dragon Magician is...okay. It searches Odd-Eyes or Magician Pendulums, or retrieves one from the Graveyard when Summoned. Nice, but not as interesting.

  • 2 weeks later...

I think people at Konami are underestimating just how searchable the Pendulum Tuner is as a FIRE Spellcaster with 700 ATK.

  • UFO Turtle: Special Summons any FIRE under 1500 ATK from the Deck
  • Magicians Circle - "When a Spellcaster attacks, both plays Special Summon any 1 Spellcaster from their Deck with 2000 or less."
  • Brushfire Knight sends her to the grave so she can self-revive
  • Fire King Avatar Kirin sends her to Grave for self-revival when it is destroyed in any way.
  • Spellbook Star Hall with 3 counters
  • Lavalval Chain can either topdeck her for later or dump her to self-revive.

Granted a Deck running all of these would take a major consistency hit, but that's just what I can think of off the top of my head in terms of options.

  • UFO Turtle: Special Summons any FIRE under 1500 ATK from the Deck slow and bad
  • Magicians Circle - "When a Spellcaster attacks, both plays Special Summon any 1 Spellcaster from their Deck with 2000 or less." slow and bad
  • Brushfire Knight sends her to the grave so she can self-revive not enough
  • Fire King Avatar Kirin sends her to Grave for self-revival when it is destroyed in any way. bad
  • Spellbook Star Hall with 3 counters potentially bad
  • Lavalval Chain can either topdeck her for later or dump her to self-revive. good

Odd-eyes and Lavalvall are the only notable ones, which sets up the soft loop.

Peasant (WIND Level 6, scale 2) and Dragonpit (WATER Level 7, Scale 8) as the scales
Noble Dragon (FIRE Level 3, Scale 5, tuner) in hand

Odd-Eyes in hand/ED

Use Dragonpit, ditch Noble, pop a spell or trap

Pend out Odd-Eyes

Noble shrinks Odd-Eyes to 4

Make a 7

Peasant grabs Noble back from the ED

repeat next turn

If you have an OEPD already out, you can make 2 synchros that turn, cause noble also self-SSs from the hand as well as the grave.

Did anyone else happen to see that about 4 days ago, the two ED cards were supposedly "confirmed" as a synchro and Beast-Eyes. An hour after I saw that they were both taken down. So I'm just putting this here to let you guys know that if the third card is Beast-Eyes, I saw it coming.

Why would it be Beast Eyes? The deck lacks Beasts in it. It'll be more likely to be Rune-Eyes

An Odd-Eyes Synchro? I can get behind that, and it makes sense with Noble Dragon Magician. As for Beast-Eyes, that'd be great for bringing it to the TCG.
