Done.  Bracket is now expanded to 16 finalists, and the OP will be updated immediately.  The current bracket is now void, and should not be considered valid.  If you'd like to submit an additional character, it is at your discretion, and is not mandatory.  If you have an unfinished application that you would like to submit, that is also acceptable.

[spoiler=Male Maid, take 2]
Name:  Camille Jade Issacs

Gender: Male. No, seriously.

Age: 22

Species: Cybernetically-enhanced human

[spoiler=Appearance]
lmoZ8T1.jpg
Standing at five foot six, with a round face and large purple eyes, Cam looks fairly feminine. Perhaps not as much as some others around but he could easily be mistaken for either. Most people tend to have trouble deciding which gender he is. Which is where his outfit comes in. Cam is almost always wearing a maid outfit, a habit he picked up in a past job, and so many tend to assume he’s female.

[spoiler=Biography]
Camille's father is a scientist named Shane Issacs, president of the robotics company called Issacs Corporation. His mother left early in his life, and his father was too busy to take care of him, often leaving that to his servants. He had a happy life, more or less, until an accident that nearly took his life seven years ago. He was brought back with the help of his father's technology, which made Shane much more interested in his son than before, as new opportunities arose.
His father began experimenting, seeing what he could improve on his new test subject...on his son. Eventually Camille was trained and programmed for maid duties, as all of Shane’s maids tended to quit. Once his father realized he could’ve just programmed him for another, more gender-suitable, roll Camille was far too used to his current programming to be changed easily.
Shane slowly started to build Camille to be more battle-capable, as the company started gearing more towards war machines. Shane discovered the Secret Cup tournament and pulled some strings to get Camille in it. The money would help him build an even bigger company. As would the advertisement. Camille, unable to refuse his father, accepted. Though he has his own plans for the money, a chance at freedom.

[spoiler=Personality]
Camille is polite and extremely hard-working, and hates to leave a task unfinished. In fact he will often spend hours on one thing if not told to go elsewhere. He is difficult to startle when in “work-mode” but when not focusing on a task is jumpy and easily flustered. Is non-confrontational and submissive, so he often won’t correct people if they mistake him for a girl.
However Camille is highly competitive when it comes to video and arcade games, frighteningly so. He gets aggressive and often vulgar when focused on a game.

He's uncomfortable when there is total silence. He needs some sort of noise or he gets even more antsy than usual. He dislikes being a bother though so he'll hold it in if he thinks that the people around him would be annoyed by sound.
Camille is decently comfortable talking with people, though is soft-spoken more often than not. However around animals (and certain animal-like races) he has trouble not panicking.

A kind soul, Camille is always wanting to help people whenever possible. Will often say yes to any request, that's not too far from his realm of comfort, even to strangers.
Very adverse to fighting, Camille has a “suppressor” installed that allows him to overcome his pacifist nature when in danger. However this doesn’t stop him from being morale. He refuses to kill under most circumstances.

[spoiler=Weapons and Powers]
Weapon(s) of choice:  His own body

Power Array:
Cybernetic: Cybernetic enhancements have made Camille much stronger than a normal human, with improved reflexes and senses.

Cloaking: Cam has a basic cloaking device installed. However it can only run for several minutes and takes three hours to recharge. Still visible by the silhouette, just harder to see.

Force Palm: A strong concussive force emanating from Cam's palm. It is more or less a slightly ranged, increased force, punch. Only has a range of five feet, anywhere farther and it is mostly useless.

Mega Buster: Cam's arm morphs into a cylindrical weapon that launches an electrical blast that stuns foes. Can be charged for greater speed and distance. Starting range is 10 feet, every 10 seconds of charge increases the range by five feet, up to 30 feet maximum. 10 second recharge time. Max length of stun 3 seconds, minimum 1.5 seconds.

[spoiler=Misc]
Has a fear of animals, and ghosts, especially afraid of ghost animals.
Keeps a music device on him at all times.
Feels uncomfortable in male clothing, however is very embarrassed about this fact.
Prefers to be called Cam, most people call him Cammy.
Also, has mad gaming skills.

Fixed up a bit, added the limitations and specifics to the powers.

Name: Saul (no last name found)

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Species: Titan - An ancient race of super-human creatures in both stature and ability; ageless and magical, Titans are said to have roamed the earth thousands of years ago.

Appearance: Saul stands at the average height for a Titan; around 7' 5" with a very well-built and scar-covered body. Covering the top of Saul's head is a long mane of platinum-blonde hair, complimenting the piercing gaze of his amber eyes. While it said that Saul is very old, even for a Titan; his face looks to be that of a man around his mid-forty's with an air of authority and intimidation. Saul normally wears an ornate short, unbuttoned black robe to show his chiseled torso; and complimented by well-fitting cloth pants. Strength-wise, Titans are incredibly strong and durable beings; being able to lift around 1-ton objects at most and sprint at olympic levels. It's no wonder the rest of humanity saw these things as threats.

[spoiler= Closest I could find; but not 100% accurate. Pay no attention to the clothing.]

geralt_witcher_3.jpg

Biography: Titans have been gone for a long time. As a child, Saul was prince of his family's nation and next in line for the throne. However, things went sour as war after war broke out against the human nations; humans who feared the Titans for their power and their strength. Hunted one by one, the Titans were driven to extinction by the humans. Sacrificing their lives, Saul's parents ensured that their son would survive and live to tell their story. That was the last that Saul had seen of his parents.

Since then, Saul has hidden in the mountains of southern China seeking peace and solitude; away from humans and away from his memories. Even from there, he witnessed many wars and a lot of death; from the mongols and further on. Every so often, someone stumbled across Saul; some looking for help in the wilderness, and others looking to end his life. Each time, Saul was driven further into solitude. Over the years, the legend of the Titans went from history, to legend, to myth, until it was forgotten from the minds of man. However, this wasn't long lived.

In a swift attack, covert-ops soldiers managed to capture and detain Saul; taking him to an unknown facility to be tested. There, Saul's hatred and anger seemed to only grow. It was here that Saul was offered an ultimatum by a shadowey figure: Win the Secret Cup Tournament, and gain back all that was lost; if not, then he should expect to live the remainder of his days in a tortured state as a lab rat. With no other choice, Saul was forced to enter to the Secret Cup Tournament; however, earning back what was lost is not as high on the list of priorities as revenge.

Personality:  Humorless, stoic, and generally unpleasant; Saul has no time for nonsense. After spending so much time in solitude, Saul is not one to be used to socializing or really have any appreciation for it. Besides his consistent cold shoulder, Saul has a complete and utter disdain for humans. Saul sees humans as evil, corrupted creatures who deserve to be cleansed from the surface of the planet, and sees himself as the last surviving member of the superior race. Blatant racism aside, Saul is also known to be rational and very patient; willing to seek the wisest course of action in his battles; yet he's also stubborn to his own values and beliefs. That said, he's not an evil man; he does have a strict set of morals. But he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, which he believes to be righteous and justified.

Weapon of Choice:

The Nail of Sephirot: An old, two-handed sword that measures at roughly 4-5 feet of length. The blade itself is angled very slightly so that the base at the hilt is just slightly wider than that of the tip. The tip of the blade is flattened square, and the metal itself is comprised of an alloy made primarily of depleted uranium for that of a mass and hardness far beyond that of any normal sword, with the blade edges covered in a steel alloy. The blade itself is heavily enchanted and covered in many ancient runes; granting it near-indestructibility and the ability to superheat itself without damaging itself.

Power Array:

  • Razeil's Cleansing: From his palm, Saul can generate a searing beam of light of great strength that can be held for a short time.

  • Gabriel's Healing: A blessing spell that heals some wounds and grants Saul brief boosts to his strength and ability. Can only be used once in a battle.

  • Michael's Rage: Summons a great pillar of flames in front of Saul that moves forward away from him for about 20 meters before dissipating.

  • Zaphkiel's Strength: A flash-step move with Saul's blade that grants incredible strength and magnifies the firey ability of Saul's blade both for a very brief amount of time; enough for a single strike. Has a maximum range of 10 feet.

"I would say 'Eyes on the Prize', but as you can see, I don't have eyes."

Personal Information

Name: Basil Thorne

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Species: Human

[spoiler=Appearance]Height: 175 cm.

tYDIKd8.jpg

[spoiler=Biography]At first, it would appear that Basil Thorne was of odd, but rather mundane origins. His mother was a talented historian, but slighted the higher-ups of a few historic societies, thus lost her research grant and fell into debt. In her darkest times, she was helped by and fell in love with a darkly handsome stranger, but he disappeared soon after she became pregnant with his child. However, Basil's birth was actually foretold by the augurs of several magic organizations, including the ancient order of Druids and the up-and-rising martial organization Fenrir. When he was born, the hospital was visited by three of the most prominent members of Fenrir, who promised to raise him well while paying off all of his mother's debts, and offering her a job and house nearby where she could go and visit him every Sunday.

From then on, Basil was raised to be the greatest sage in history. A great deal of preparation had gone into his upbringing. He was taught by prominent scholars from a young age who taught him languages, sciences, maths, and philosophy. When he was twelve years old, they began his true training. He was to follow in the footsteps of countless ancient sages in a magical ritual that would bestow upon him ultimate wisdom and omniscience.

Basil sacrificed both his eyes to the ancient artifact Mimir's Well and he hung himself upon a World Tree for nine days in a cycle of constant death and rebirth to reenact the path of Odin. He was turned into a girl for three years as he followed the life of Tiresias, and he went to all the places Confucius was said to have visited. Every sage that the powerful organization could learn about, Basil studied and acted out the trials and tribulations of their lives.

However, before this ritual could be completed, the fight against countless rival organizations had depleted Fenrir's resources. Basil decided to join the Secret Cup in order to secure finances himself.

[spoiler=Personality]Basil has the aura of a great sage. No adversity seems to be able to break his calm, no pain can cloud his mind. He sports a subtle knowing smile that makes it feel like he can see right through you despite his blindness. And it's true, nothing really escapes him. Although he has to properly digest the knowledge, Basil has received, through his many experiences, the wisdom of countless great sages of the past. He is capable of making full use of the knowledge available to him to make clear and reasoned judgments. This is not to say that he is perfect, but he has reached a level capable of being called a Paragon among men.

Morally, Basil is completely lawful good. He will not kill unless there is no other way, and when he does, he gives proper rites and respect to the fallen. While he recognizes that other perspectives can be valid, his personal philosophical views are utilitarian and existential; his life is completely dedicated to his vision of the greater good. He is unaffected by vice or sin, and has an infinite propensity for forgiveness. It is only due to his wisdom and utter pureness of heart that he is able to utilize the ultimate Shaman ability, the Whisperer of All Things, to its full extent.

Although Basil has little real social experience, his received wisdom allows him to interact smoothly with other people. He can discern others' thoughts and feelings, and he is well aware of the social traditions of nearly all cultures on Earth. Basil is typically very soft-spoken, serious, and polite in conversation, but when he deems it appropriate and unlikely to aggravate the situation, he can show a sarcastic and humorous side.

[spoiler=Powers]While merely human, Basil has powerful magical abilities derived from Shamanism. However, his power is partially dependent on his virtuous nature, thus his abilities will diminish if he tries to use them for his own greed. He also refuses to kill.

Whisperer of All Things

Reaching the pinnacle of Shamanism, Basil has the ability to communicate with anything, from animals, to inanimate objects, to spirits and the dead. While he must speak with his mouth, the volume of his voice doesn't matter, and the words are merely a ritual and he conveys his feelings and intentions to the target through a telepathic link. This is an ability that allows him to try to convince animals, objects and spirits to help him. For example, he could ask a sword not to cut him. Because Basil is loved by the world and his intentions are pure, most things will do his bidding unless they have a reason not to, for example, a sword may hold loyalty to its owner. Main applications of this ability include:

  • Unlimited Knowledge: "Oh spirits, I inquire of thee..." Basil has access to the knowledge of everything around him. Because of this, he can perceive things without seeing them. Using this, it is not possible to hide from him, except with magic. This ability also helps him dodge incoming attacks.
  • Zephyr Flight: "Oh wind, lift me up." He asks the wind and air itself to let him fly.
  • Structure Formation: "Oh rocks, oh trees..., create..." He can bend things around him at will. Usually, this is used to manipulate the terrain or create some sort of defensive barrier.
  • Visual Illusions: "Oh light..." He can bend light in order to camouflage himself. When standing still, it approaches the level of invisibility, however it can be easy to perceive him when he's moving.
The weakness of this ability is that Basil cannot lie to anyone or anything he speaks to using this method, and he must remain pure of heart. He can only give one command at a time, and he must visualize in his head what he intends. The greater the request, the longer he must speak to the receiver of the request.

Astral Travel/Astral Form

Basil can leave his body to wander while his body enters a trance. His spirit can be hit by special magic, but otherwise cannot be touched by the physical realm. As a spirit, Basil can see and still speak telepathically using his Whisperer of All Things. While his spirit is within ten meters of his body, he can give his spirit a physical form (identical to his real appearance). His spirit becomes visible, although it is blue and transparent. The physical form of his spirit possesses great physical strength and speed, and it is extremely durable, allowing Basil to block attacks with this ability. The power is quite draining so he doesn't use it if he doesn't need to. At most he can maintain it for 30 seconds.

Quite lovely.  Added to the OP.

Name:  Kyoun'fur Ignylyph (translated the Far Symbol; pronounced Key-on-fur Ig-nil-lift)

Gender:  Male

Age:  1300

Species:  In simple terms, Kyoun would be described as an alien.  He is not a native of earth per say, but has lived on its surface for a long time to be considered a native species.  To be more specific, his race would be defined as Ghor'ink.  They are a race cloaked in literal blackness, and survive in all types of extreme climates.

[spoiler=Appearance]  Kyoun has entirely pitch black skin.  It is covered in a protective bile to keep him cool and protected from the sun's rays.  It is clear like saliva, and often regarded as such.  Kyoun is seven feet tall exactly, and weighs approximately three hundred pounds.  His head is somewhat elongated, mostly at the snout.  His chest is always bare, proudly displaying his battle wounds.  His eyes are very thin slits, and almost look like scars themselves.  He does not have a nose, and instead breathes through his mouth or the flaps on his back.  He has a four foot long tail, brandished with a glowing green alien symbol of his home planet.  When he is enraged, it will glow brighter.  His tail is spiked on the very end, allowing it to be used as a weapon if he pleases.  His feet are webbed and suction cupped, but can be controlled at will.  He has four skinny but powerful arms, two on either side of his torso.  Kyoun can often be seen walking on all fours, but is most frightening when he reveals his very muscular hind legs.  He also bears two uneven horns on his head.  One fully grown and curled outwards to the left side of his face.  The other has been shaved down, to a smaller, simpler point.

His fingers are slender, and bare sharp nails on the tip of each.  And because of his bone structure, Kyoun is usually hunched over when he stands.  His body is much like a shell.  It has been hardened over a thousand years, and is much stronger than steel.  Kyoun also bears three tongues, and can move them about freely in his mouth.  With more than 3 rows of sharp, powerful teeth, he is quite frightening in appearance.

[spoiler=Biography]  Kyoun was born a long, long time ago far away from Earth.  His home planet, Gilfax, was in the process of selecting its next King, when Kyoun was born to his parents.  As the rightful heir to a now corrupted thrown, it was feared Kyoun would rise to further drive the indigenous species further into decline.  In a mass hysteria of both chaos and what could be defined only as wonder, Kyoun was separated from his parents, as guards betrayed their king and stole away the child.  His mother was slain, and his father was imprisoned immediately following Kyoun's birth.  Unfortunately, Kyoun was a stubborn bastard child.  A Ghor'ink's life span is long, but their childhood is not.  In one week's time, Kyoun had become a grand age of 100, the youngest of his species at the time.  In that time, Kyoun developed a very powerful anatomy, and his primal instincts matured quickly.  His brain registered things on an incredible level, and he had become adept at playing with people's minds.

With this, he learned of the truth, discovering the betrayal to the throne, and the murder of his mother.  He deciphered codes and gained impressive knowledge, enough in a week's time that he would escape from his cage and free his father.  Together, they scrambled for a ship off of Gilfax, and a way out.  In their escape, however, Kyoun's father was killed, and he was left to his own vices.  Kyoun decided to make a get away for earth, some lightyears away.  Putting himself into a deep sleep, he was not followed.  But he did vow to seek revenge.  He would become a ruler of a great army, and lead them to wipe out and replace the Gilfax Ghor'inks in one fell swoop.

After spending over 1200 years on Earth, Kyoun had learned vast languages, adapted to its climate and various species, and successfully staved off his enemies.  Unfortunately, he had not yet found a way to create his own army.  He had failed to integrate with another species to reproduce, and his attempts at probing the minds of frailer species resulted in their deaths.  But one fateful day, Kyoun's technology intercepted a widely broadcasted message.  Translating it with ease, Kyoun discovered a vast prize waited for a champion of earth.  With his combat prowess and intelligence, he sought to claim the prize and return to his home planet with an army of millions, to restore the throne to its rightful owner.  With his very thin eyes on the prize, Kyoun set out for the United States of America, where he would travel to California to partake in this fiasco of a tournament.

[spoiler=Personality]  Kyoun is very aggressive.  With his mind set only on his own goals, he is also very selfish.  He is a fast thinker, and has a very commanding aura about him.  He propagates ideas well, and is very persuasive.  In this aggressive, commanding behavior, Kyoun is also very prideful.  Knowing he is of royalty, he looks down on most other species.  The only species he has come to respect is the human race.  Their knowledge of war amuses him, and shows his truly curious side.  Though he is respectful of the human race, he sides with no one, not even them.  His own goals far exceed the need for companionship and allies.  In fact, Kyoun much prefers having enemies.  The more he is hated, the more quickly his enemies will realize how inferior they truly are.

Weapon(s) of choice:  Kyoun's weapons consist of his own body.  He also carries around an extendable spear.  It can grow as long as ten feet in length.  Anyone that is not of Ghor'ink race that attempts to use the spear will be met with powerful spikes in their hands.  Kyoun can also separate the spear at its mid length, to dual wield two smaller spears in two of his four hands.

[spoiler=Power Array

Hard Body:  Kyoun's body has been hardened over the course of a thousand years.  He is able to resist small arms fire and high temperatures of heat, as well as extreme temperatures of cold.

Caustic Spittle:  Kyoun gathers a large amount of saliva in his mouth and spits it forward.  It is extremely volatile and toxic, and will burn through most things it touches.  Getting it on your skin?  Well, there's no ointment for that burn.

Enhanced Agility and Strength:  Standard.  Coming from a species of an alien race, he is naturally stronger than the average human.  Able to lit up to five tons, Kyoun has power behind his skinny arms.  In addition, his webbed feet allow him to swim at great speeds, and the flaps on his back give him good hang time for floating or drifting long distances.  With the slick coating over his body, he has reduced wind resistance, and is therefore more agile on land as well.

Mind Tap:  Only after completely pinning his foe, Kyoun may dig his long, pointed fingers into their skull to retrieve information.  This will most often kill the target, but he will receive information none the less.  He cannot use this ability until his opponent is most often near death.

Misc.:  Kyoun loves ladies, believe it or not.  He gon be hittin' on erry thang.

Nero stood tall at 186 centimeters.

[spoiler=Biography] A really old demon with an unhealthy interest in mankind, he had been meddling with human affairs for ages. He had been mingling with them for so long to the point of ditching his demonkin, though it's not really something that he's concerned about. He was present when a loony that used his name ruled a certain empire, and due to him disliking the loony, he arranged for him to be toppled after a while, though it kind of ended badly in the long run. Well, not really something that he'd really think about much.

Well...in the end he did ditch almost the entirety of his demonic identity. Not seeing any reason to identify as a demon anymore, the once-great demon ended up embracing humanity more and more. Although he himself couldn't completely identify as a human, he'd like to see himself as a dashing savior for the childish race. Or just a meddlesome gentleman highlander wanting to have some fun, either works.

Still, even he could get bored of the entire thing one day, and he ended up deciding that he'd try stir up some...incidents to make things more interesting. Not having the resource to do so, however, Nero ended up deciding to find a way to get enough cold hard cash in a semi-legitimate way to fuel his incident. Thus, he sets his eyes on the prize of a certain tournament, and later, he even got the invitation for it. Delighted with it, the high-spirited gentleman marched towards the Secret Cup, ecstatic to fight his way out to get the prize.

[spoiler=Personality] A dashing gentleman is the best way to describe him, though of course, it'd only describe the surface of what he actually is. A self-centered megalomaniac, but actually pretty sensitive and caring when he's up to it. While he has shades of being manipulative to achieve his goals, most of the time his manipulations are pretty harmless, just some way for him to not be bored. Of course, this does not apply to the incident he's planning right now.

An admirer of beauty, he really really appreciates beautiful things no matter what its form is. Structures, writing, art, men, women, little kids, flowers, animals, clouds, sceneries, he always appreciate them in his own way. Being a self-centered person that he is though, this often translate to him doing something outside of acceptable norms. Even then, he didn't really mean harm whenever he appreciates something, just at times his mindset is at how people couldn't truly understand him.

He renounced his demonhood due to him loving humanity too much, and would not return to reclaim his demonhood ever again. It's been way too fun to live among humans, and they fuels his megalomania as well. Not that he realized it as he's pretty much thinking he's just tending to his children this way.

Being a long living immortal (in the sense of couldn't die of old age or disease), his sense of morality would not fit any conventional norms, and while at times he would have himself fit in better, mostly his sense of right and wrong would be pretty self centered even if it's not intentional.

[spoiler=Weapon of Choice]

A nameless demonic sword forged with the fires of hell itself. While Nero didn't really like using it, on the occasion of this tournament he decided to use it anyway. Perpetually burning while active, its main ability was actually the ability to summon phantom copies of it that could be remotely controlled by the user to attack the opponent. The main sword's also indestructible by nature, which would allow Nero to pull off some nice things with it.

[spoiler=Abilities]

Mark of the Fire Lilies: His immense magical potential manifested as this ability, the ability to summon these magically reinforced flowers of varying size. He could use it as shields, ranged projectiles, and even, he could use it to trap his opponents inside of a cage composed of a chain of these flowers. Being magically reinforced, these flowers were far more deadly and sturdy than their appearance would suggest. A very versatile power, though there's not really much reasoning for it to manifest as flowers aside due to Nero being an admirer of natural beauty.

Crimson Phantom: For every 5 seconds, Nero could flash step to any position in 10 meter radius. He must be completely aware of this decision and the location he intended to be to actually use this ability.

Supernatural-level Strength and Agility: He's an ancient demon no matter what. While his power has greatly weakened over the years, he's still pretty fit physically.

I have to say I'm rapidly losing interest in this, at least on the IC side.  I'd be more than happy to still help manage things OOC-side though; reviewing apps, being a good wall to bounce plot ideas off, and maybe making more arenas.  I don't want to see this die but at the same time have no further will to participate in the tournament itself.

IT'S TIME TO BRUTALLY MURDER YOUR CHARACTER!!!

If anyone else feels the same, please say so now.  I don't want to waste time.
