Post a Feel and I'll pair it with a song

Post a real Deep Feel™ and I'll do my best to pair it with music. Be as specific or as vague as you wish. It may even be a scene if you want, or just a vague feeling; like being in a particular place, or a certain sense of nostalgia or something long forgotten, or dreaded. POST A FEEL!

Being in a very cold and damp building, almost like a temple, and needing food and heat.

Warmth, by C418. I pick this song because it perfectly encompasses the scene you describe; and, looking at the name, the song is anything but. It has this feel of being in a large, dark, empty and ruined place where your needs are basic, but there may not be a way out. Very moody, mysterious, and has a real sense of a deep, dark space that you cannot see the end of.

The unbridled rage and boredom of being unable to do anything until the person you made plans with shows up, and they're extremely late.

Descent, by Austin Wintory. Admittedly harder for me to nail this emotion, but the "Boredom" portion is what sold me on this piece. It feels a little unfitting at first, like its leaning towards something scary, dark, and mysterious; but placing yourself in the shoes not of the one observing the "darkness" of the song, but in the darkness itself and you feel something else from the song: A real, brooding anger. Something left alone for too long that really should not have been. I almost went with Nadir, but I felt that was too chaotic and too... messy for the mood you described.

An empty longing that you know can never come true, thus inundating you with misery and worthlessness, yet seemingly content and happy in your miserable existence in an eternally cold sorts way

Earnestly Your's, by Keaton Henson. Gettin' me to pull out the big guns already! Anyways, I think I'll let the music speak for itself on this one; just let it really soak in. Overall, with the escalation in this song combined with the melancholy tone it captures that mournful feeling perfectly: You want something so much it hurts. You want out of a situation, or you want to be with someone, or you want to be away from someone. That feeling of so desperately wanting to wake up from the situation you are in that your own wishing is only making it hurt more.

I must commend you on your music taste. C418, Austin Wintory, and Keaton Henson is right up my street. I was invited by some string players to play the piano part of various Keaton songs at a London festival, so the music's very much close to my heart.

probably should post a feel i'm posting

uh

that happysad feeling you get about the future and life

Reflection, by Disasterpiece. I pick this one because of its slow, bittersweet feeling. It's not a sad song exclusively, but it carries a lot of heavy tones with it that can make it feel such. It's very slow and calm, reminiscent of the last soundscape it has at the end; like being at a shore where there's nothing happening and you should have no worry, yet there's still that bitter feeling back there to go with the sweet.

Curling up in a thick armchair with a pot of tea and a comfortable blanket at 3 PM on a grey, dreary day.

Through the Telescope, by Dualryan. Sorry, could not find a Youtube link for this song, so you'll have to enjoy it through Bandcamp this time around. Something quiet, tranquil, and distant like an observer overlooking someplace cold, yet peaceful from a seat of safety and comfort.

The bittersweet feeling of having finished something great and never being able to experience it the same way again.

Intro, by C418. I have to say now, this album is probably going to have a healthy representation in this thread. This song in particular carries with it a lot of emotions that describe what you described: Conclusiveness; that you're at the end of something positive, and the bittersweet emotions that being in such a place carry. The end of a chapter, and the beginning of a new one. This thread should probably be renamed to "VCR gets deep about music".

The feeling of being confident with a project and/or presentation you have, but are still nervous as all could be of how the initial public will react to it

Blumenwiese Neben Autobahn by Ulrich Schnauss. At first I thought I would have a lot of trouble with this request, and then as I was taking a listen through the album "Far Away Trains Passing By", I noticed that the tone was very much suitable. I chose this song because it's not incredibly fast-paced, it has a positive air to it, yet with its percussion and melody there's a tone of intensity behind it. Not one that feels like it's going to take it apart, but the song carries that air of confidence as well as the worries and concerns that come with it that create these intensities.

The feeling you get when you have been triumphant in battle, with the blood of your enemies on your hand. You should feel elated, your people are saved! But the enemy was just like you, fighting to protect those they loved. The opposing forces weren't evil, they were basically the same as your own, just with several political differences that mattered nothing to you. And you killed them, you decided your own desires were more important than theirs. And now you feel empty, and disgusted by yourself, surrounded by celebrating allies.

The Cloud, by Jim Guthrie. This one was a little harder to choose, and the final cut was between this and another song. It all came down to the tone I wanted to convey. Both songs were quiet and echoing; reflective and slow like you're crashing after a big adrenaline rush. Comparatively, the other song had a much more distant and brighter tone that implied a greater sense of shock. The deeper tones and more consistent percussion gives a sense of being down-to-earth and fully aware of one's actions, but the overall mood is still rather mournful.

When walking outside, and you feel an odd sense of déjà vu as you go...as if you're walking a path you've tread a million times in your past. When you look around, you can swear you're five again, can see the places you used to play in, can hear the innocent laughter of friends who have left, can smell your grandmother's cookies, and then you blink. And you're back in the present, left only with a lonelier heart and your own memories for company.

Finding a light that breaks you out of nihilism

Star, by Dualryan. One of those ethereal slow songs you might expect to be in a movie like 2001. A vague song that denotes transformation and realization for a vague feel~

Being so bored that you're actually considering doing work around the house.

Deep Space (Explore), by Ben Prunty. I had one other song that was very quiet and slow, but there was... emotion to it. It didn't feel truly BORING, it didn't feel truly BLANK and without thinking or emotion. This song is empty, depicting a vast void; just as the vast void of boredom that encompasses you.

Nearly Curtains, by Keaton Henson. I admit, it feels like cheating that, in part, my reason for picking this song is the ambient background sounds. BUT, that wasn't the whole reasoning. This song, overall, is very slow and reflective and has that lonely feeling lying underneath it. The ambient sounds only add to a feeling of distance; like you're not there with those memories. Overall, this song feels like remembering when times are good, and wishing those times were now.
