Heavy-Armored Train Iron Wolf

Rank 4 EARTH Machine-type

2200 / 2200

2 Level 4 Machine-Type monsters

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Machine-Type monster you control; this turn, it can attack your opponent directly.

Discuss.

Well, I suppose that theory that Allan was using Trains like Anna actually came true. On that note, current Trains don't even want this card (or rather, don't have space because this is R4 and they do mostly 10s), even though direct attacking is nice. Still gotta see what else he pulls out, but I don't know if those will add anything.

For Rank 4 Machines, guess they could find some space for this (for MPBs, I could try to find a slot for them in case there's the opportunity to make it [without the Tokens]). Not sure on other things though.

It's probably gonna get something like "but only that monster can declare an attack this turn" or something slapped on the remove a bit of the raw stupidness.

Honestly it's a bit bland. I kinda wanna see it do something else, but I have no idea what

But then it would just be a less generic Number 82: Heartlandraco that is able to get out more damage.

It would still be good, but just wouldn't really add anything new to anything.

Quick ruling question: Can I target a Barbaroid the Ultimate Battle Machine with this? If so can it attack directly regardless of its effect?

Why is it that a lot of Type exclusive Xyz's are not very impressive in what they do? e.g. Fairy Cheer Girl only gives draw power with a small body, Inferno Flame Vixen has a real awkward effect, Comics Hero Arthur is overshadowed by everything, Alchemic Magician barely makes up for the materials she uses, and this does Heartdraco's effect a little bit better (barring what they do with it if they decide to release it in TCG/OCG)  :/ I mean it is probably too early to judge it now considering it is only in the anime...  But, Konami... Seriously, give us more incentive to use these Type exclusives.

Problem comes down to the generic Xyz being too good for what they do.

You can target it with this, but it still won't be able to attack directly. That's because Barbaroid has an effect explicitly NOT allowing it to attack directly, even if otherwise capable of doing so, such as the opponent controlling no monsters.

This card just allows you to have its target not require an empty field to attack directly.
