Good job! Must suck for Norman. Maria is dead, and he has to go help the person he tried to dispose of before.

That's life for you.

“Now by sending my castle to the graveyard, I can attack you directly for this turn only,” said Norman & the castle of cobwebs crumbled to dust.

said norman & the castle? perhaps a comma.

Anyway, great chapter.

Since Kale has set up chapter 8, I will just do the same too. Here we go...chapter 7

Ch 7-Rusted Time

Ch 7-Rusted Time

Clair, Penny & Miora were sitting & chatting inside a café & Clair was telling them about her premonitions.

“Come on, Clair!” said Penny, “There’s no way that could be real.”

“I don’t know, but it’s just so real,” said Clair.

“Anyway, don’t you need to go that Registration Centre for aspiring Pro Leagus duelists,” asked Miora, changing the topic at hand.

“Oh yeah, I am going to be late!” said Clair as she quickly dashed out. Penny & Miora sweatdropped & followed he by catching up to her.

Soon, the 3 girls arrived at the Registration Centre. There, a long queue of candidates of different ages & races were lining up for their chances. As they went inside the crowd, they bumped into someone there. His skin was somewhat tanned. His body had a few muscles, though was not really muscular. His face was unknown as he was wearing a mask, but he had dark blue eyes.

“Sorry there, I didn’t where we were going,” said Penny.

“It’s ok, I’m Adam Hiyeya, a Pro League Duelist myself,” said Adam, “I assume you ladies are here for the tryouts, am I right?”

“Yes, but only Clair,” replied Penny, “I’m Penny by the way. Clair will be the 1 who would trying out & the last 1 is Miora Ne…mi…lia…”

“It’s Miora Nemnia,” Miora corrected as she struck a glance at Penny, “it’s nice to meet you, you must be a Pro League duelist.”

“Yup, and I think I ought to bring you guys in, I just bear to see you standing the day at that line, it took me the whole day just to get inside,” Adam said as he showed them to the back entrance.

The 3 girls decided to follow him, to make this trip faster. From the back door, they went all the way up to the front desk, which was the registration counter. Along the way, they encountered various duellists in the building. They were socialising, duelling & doing other things. Soon, they arrived at the front desk. There was a lady in her early 20s sitting there, she was wearing a sky blue uniform that featured the Pro Leagues logo.

“Gladys, this girl wishes to sign up to the Pro Leagues,” Adam said as he pointed to Clair.

“But Mr Adam, cutting a queue is against the rules,” retorted Gladys and Adam’s eyes glowed in response, “of course, I’ll get her signed up immediately. What your name & age, miss?”

“Clair Kinet & I’m…” said Clair before she realised that she forgot her age. She then secretly asked Penny.

“You’re 18, like me,” whispered Penny.

“18 years old, Mss Gladys,” continued Clair.

“Ok, you’ll duel in Platform 7 immediately. A Proctor will be there & he’ll duel you to confirm your place,” said Gladys as she typed in the information in her computer.

“You heard her, I’ll guide you to Platform 7 myself, “Adam said he led the way, in which the girls followed. Along the way, Miora discussed something with the other 2 girls as Adam was quite far away from them since he walked quite fast along the way. From the shadows, a man was watching them & followed them.

“Platform 7, eh?” thought the man, “I got a shortcut to there.”

“Girls, at the front desk, I could have sworn that Adam’s eyes glowed & that lady there changed her mind suddenly,” Miora whispered, “do you think that he’s also a Psy…”

“No way, there couldn’t be true,” replied Penny, “don’t be ridiculous & just keep walking.”

At Platform 7, it was just a regular duel field. The only difference was that it was very big, just like the ones seen in Kaiba Dome. Clair let out a scream at the room & a great echo was heard. On the other side of the field, 2 people were also there. 1 was the Proctor as indicated in his uniform, while the other man was wearing a brown muscle shirt with dark blue pants. He was holding a Duel Disk on his arm. It was designed to appear rusted with age & with 2 steam pipes.

“Adam, you should know better than letting people cut queue here,” said the man.

“Cut them some slack, Dox,” replied Adam.

“I thought you looked familiar, you’re Dox Crowler! That duellist who lost to Noland at that last duel,” exclaimed Clair.

“Ever since that duel, people everywhere only remembered me as the one being beaten up by Noland Blight! It’s so god damned unfair!” snapped Dox.

“Calm down, Dox,” said Clair, “how about that we had a duel? This will be treated as my Application Duel & I’ll enter the Pro Leagues if I win.”

“You don’t know who you’re messing with,” said Dox as he chuckled a bit, before activating his Duel Disk.

“Are you certain, missy?” said the proctor, “Dox is no easy man.”

“No worries, I think I could handle him,” replied Clair.

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 4000)

“I’ll start things first!” declared Dox, “I play Magnet Circle LV 2 to summon the Ancient Gear.” (DEF: 800)

A miniature robot made out of gears appeared.

“When an Ancient Gear is on the field, I can summon another copy that is in my hand,” Dox said as another Ancient Gear appeared as well, “I’ll now release my 2 Gears for the almighty…Ancient Gear Golem!” (ATK: 3000)

The 2 gear monsters converted into a portal, which caused the ground to rumble as the titanic gear machine rose.

“Gaze at its glorious might as I hand it over to you,” Dox said as he waved his hand to declare the end of his turn.

“Then I draw too,” Clair said, “I summon Sonic Chick (DEF: 300) & place 2 cards face-down & that’s all.”

As she set the card horizontally, a pink bird appeared & ducked in defence. Afterwards, 2 more cards were set vertically.

“Then it’s my turn then,” said Dox as he drew his card.

“Thankfully, Sonic Chick’s effect prevents its destruction by battling with a monster with higher attack points,” said Clair, pointing at her monster.

“Not when I equip my Golem with Ancient Gear Fist,” said Dox as his Golem’s right fist changed into a slightly advanced version, “and I’ll attack this instant WITH Mechanised Melee!”

Ancient Gear Golem raised his right arm & punched the bird with great force; a shockwave was then blown towards Clair.

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1300)

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1300)

“Why I took damage when my monster was in defence mode?” asked Clair.

“Because my Ancient Gear Golem bypasses this rule & still damage you,” said Dox, “now that I end my Battle Phase, I use my Fist’s effect to destroy any monster that survived the battle with its equipped monster.”

Ancient Gear Golem reached out to crush Sonic Chick, but a cooking pot intercepted its attack. The pot then destroyed the bird.

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1600)

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1600)

“I have played Mystic Wok to gain life points equal to its attack,” said Clair, “and I also activate Solemn Wishes too.”

“Then I end my turn,” said Dox.

“Beep-beep-buzzzzz-bep!” cried a familiar voice of Mental Master.

“Thanks for the support, my friend,” thought Clair.

“I draw & gain some life points as of now,” said Clair as she drew a card.

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 2100)

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 2100)

“I summon the Psychic monster called Clevonce,” (DEF: 400) Clair said as a jester-like being made of electrical circuits appeared, “and that’s all.”

“Then it’s my turn,” said Dox, “I will now take down your monster & end your misery. Go & attack with Mechanised Melee!”

Ancient Gear Golem raised its mighty fist & struck Clevonce, but was blocked by a psychic force.

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1300)

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1300)

“What happened?” inquired the Proctor.

“My Clevonce can negate attacks as long as I pay 800 Life Points,” explained Clair.

“Since the attack never occurred, Ancient Gear Golem can’t deal battle damage to Clair,” inferred the proctor.

“Not to mention, Ancient Gear Fist can’t do anything to Clevonce,” said Penny, “that means she might be able to use Clevonce for a Synchro Summon.”

“She’s very good being able to pick herself up after a fall,” thought Adam, “just as my Lordship claimed. No wonder he wanted her so much.”

“Arg, I place a card face-down & end this turn,” said Dox, clenching his fist.

“Let’s go then” Clair said.

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1800)

Dox (LP: 4000) Clair (LP: 1800)

“I summon Destructor,” (ATK: 1600) Clair said as a computer-like robot appeared; “now I use its ability to destroy a face-down card. Go, use Hidden Destruction!”

Destructor held out its arm & unleashed a wave that destroyed the face-down, which was revealed to be a Mirror Force.

“Now I tune my Destructor with Clevonce to Synchro Summon…Mental Annihilator!” shouted Clair as the 2 monsters disappeared for a demon filled with cybernetic enhancements, “now he’ll attack your Gear Golem with Mind Crush Maul!”

“Ha!” laughed Dox, “my Gear Golem can pummel that thing easily.”

“My monster’s effect allows me to pay 100 Life Points for his attack target’s Level, so that he’ll gain half of the attack of Gear Golem,” Clair said. (ATK: 2400~3900)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 1000)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 1000)

“I also play Selbek’s Blessings to gain more life points,” Clair said.

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 1900)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 1900)

The silhouettes of the 3 monsters appeared & vanished.

“What’s he going to summon?” asked Miora.

“He’s going to call forth the Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem, a creature of immense power,” said a voice.

The onlookers & duellists looked up & saw an old man looking towards them.

“Its Noland Blight!” exclaimed Clair as she saw 1 of her favourite duellists, Dox, on the other hand, was quite pissed off at his sight.

“Just ignore me, you 2, and get back into the duel,” said Noland.

“I will now the spell card called Recycling Plant & remove the 3 monsters mentioned to fusion summon the Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem!” (ATK: 4400) Dox cried as the phantom forms of the 3 machines merged to form a gigantic centaur made of rusty gears, 1 arm was regular, while the other was a huge claw, “now I’ll attack your monster with Ultimate Mechanised Melee!”

“But if that attack hits, Clair’s done for!” exclaimed Penny.

Thus, Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem raised his claw & crushed Mental Annihilator with ease.

“So girl, hope you will not come back again,” said Dox, while laughing.

As the field cleared up, Clair was still standing.

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 400)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 400)

What!” exclaimed Dox, “but you’re supposed to…”

“If not for my Mental Annihilator’s final effect to give 500 life points when it is attacked,” explained Clair, “since you destroyed a Psychic monster, I can activate the trap card called Thought-Guided Force.”

Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem then crumbled into a pile of gears & Clair glowed.

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 2600)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 2600)

“Thought-Guided Force destroys the monster that destroyed the Psychic monster that triggered this trap & I gain half of that monster’s attack,” said Clair while smiling.

“But it’s not over…yet…” thought Noland as something within the pile of gears moved & Ancient Gear Golem rose from the rumble.

“But how!” exclaimed Miora, “but I thought you can’t special summon him!”

“Normally, but Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem bypasses that restriction,” explained Noland.

“See, girl, you can’t win no matter what,” mocked Dox, “and I end my turn here & now.”

“I draw!” said Clair, “and now I play Premature Burial to summon my Mental Annihilator.” (ATK: 2400)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 2300)

Dox (LP: 3100) Clair (LP: 2300)

The robotic fiend appeared onto the field again.

“I also summon Mental Master (ATK: 100) & use both monster to Synchro Summon my Astral Plane Dragon!” (ATK: 2000)

The 2 monsters disappeared for the mighty dragon.

“His effect removes monsters from our graveyards, so that it gains 300 ATK for each & every one,” Clair said as her dragon grew with more power, (ATK: 2000~4800) “attack with Astral Burst!”

The dragon then unleashed an energy blast & destroyed the gear golem.

Dox (LP: 1300) Clair (LP: 2300)

“Ancient Gear Golem is removed from play since from it has been destroyed by my dragon,” said Clair, “now I use my dragon’s other effect to grant me 1000 life points when I return my Destrutor to my deck.” (ATK: 4800~4500)

Dox (LP: 1300) Clair (LP: 3300)

Dox (LP: 1300) Clair (LP: 3300)

“I draw & place a card face-down,” Dox muttered as a face-down spell or trap card appeared.

“But he did nothing this time,” wondered Miora.

“Like his ancestor, Vellian Crowler, he also relies on the use of Ancient Gear Golem a lot,” noted Noland, “any duellist who relies on a single monster in a duel is bound to fail.”

“Then I begin my turn,” said Clair as her life points increased.

Dox (LP: 1300) Clair (LP: 3300)

Dox (LP: 1300) Clair (LP: 3300)

“I summon Destrutor to the field,” said Clair as the monster reappeared, (ATK: 1600) “I use his effect to destroy that face-down card.”

The card opened & was revealed to be a card called Mirror Bind.

“Damned, I could have used that to mimic Mirror Force & crush her dragon,” thought Dox.

“Astral Plane Dragon, attack him directly,” Clair said as her dragon blasted Dox directly.

Dox (LP: 0) Clair (LP: 3300)

Dox (LP: 0) Clair (LP: 3300)

Dox fell to his knees after that, not wanting to look anywhere else due to his defeat by a rookie. Everyone else, on the other hand, gathered around Clair.

“That was a great duel, as always!” congratulated Penny.

“I must admit that I thought you would lose, but I guess I was wrong,” said the proctor, “and I was glad that I was.”

“Yeah, what are you going to do now?” asked Adam.

“I’m officially in Pro Leagues, so let’s go out for a drink,” Clair said as she dashed out, along with Penny & Miora.

Noland gazed at her & smiled.

“What an amazing girl,” thought Noland, “I would like to duel her someday.”

Adam stared at Clair as she left, thinking about her.

“She’s great, the Lordship would love to have her,” thought Adam as 3 men in dark blue cloaks appeared.

“Sir, that Dox-character, he seems a fine young duellist,” said 1 of the men.

“I see,” replied Adam as he took out his own cloak & donned it himself.

Later in the evening, another commotion occurred to a bar downtown. Dox was apparently thrown out of a bar.

“And stay back!” shouted the bartender.

Dox was still drunk at the moment & was stumbling to an alley when 4 cloaked men surrounded. 1 of them carried a bucket of water, which he splashed onto Dox. He soon regained himself.

“What?” asked Dox.

“Dox Crowler, I wish for you to duel me,” said the middle man, who activated his Duel Disk.

“Well, bring it on,” said Dox.

After sometime, Dox had an Ancient Gear Golem (ATK: 3000) on the field & while the mysterious person had a spellcaster monster with him. (ATK: 2500)

“I will attack that Life…whatever you call it now with Mechanised Melee!” Dox shouted as Ancient Gear Golem destroyed the sorcerer.

“What just happened!” exclaimed Dox, unsure of what happened.

“That’s the power of my Life Manipulator,” said the cloaked duellist, ”when he’s destroyed, he can take away your life points & give me some of them. Since he has been around for 2 turns, you take 1000 points of damage & I gain 1000 life points.”

“Arg…” growled Dox, “I summon Big Shield Gardna (DEF: 2600) to defend & end my turn.”

“This life points gain thing is seriously against me today,” thought Dox as his opponent drew a card.

“I will remove my Life Manipulator to call forth Life from Below!” (ATK:?, DEF: ?)

Life Manipulator appeared for a second before disappearing for a zombie with an appearance similar to Life Manipulator. (ATK: 2500, def: 2500)

“His attack & defence are equal to my Life Manipulator’s & since a EARTH monster was removed for its summoning, he can attack you directly with half of it s power,” said the duellist.

“But that means…” exclaimed Dox.

“You lose, Life From Below, attack that rookie with Underground Malice Strike!” said the duellist as Life From Below sank into the ground & launched a sneak attack onto Dox himself

Dox then fainted & collapsed on the floor. 2 of the cloaked men then dragged him away, while the other 2 left.

Card of the Day

Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem

EARTH/Machine-Fusion/LV 10/ATK 4400/3400

"Ancient Gear Golem" + 2 "Ancient Gear" monsters

This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate any Spell or Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. If this card is destroyed, Special Summon 1 "Ancient Gear Golem" from your Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning conditions.

Dox: Today’s card will be a card dated back to my ancestor, Vellian Crowler. It’s none other than the Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem, an almighty monster only known by legends. Besides possessing all the powers of Ancient Gear Golem himself, he can also summon Ancient Gear Golem should he be destroyed. Just when you think you had crushed him, another one comes after you. I should have used him during my duel with Noland though.
Clair: Oh dear! Dox’s missing!

Penny: So what? I never liked him from the start anyway.

Miora: Guys, look over there! Someone’s chasing somebody.

Clair: That’s something familiar about that cloaked man though…Next on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind- Chapter 8-Cosmic Armada!

Overmind: Now is where our game truly begins…

(Mary Willis reporting the missing person case of Dox Crowler)

(Miora bumped by a cloaked man)

(The cloaked man surrounding 2 boys)

(A futuristic space-ship appeared in the sky)

(Clair meeting a mysterious being who is in a full-body armour)

very cool, man. I am curious about those life monsters though... Are they Japanese, anime only, or custom cards on the forum? O.o

Anywho, there are normal spelling mistakes like everyone has, but all in all a nice chapter.

Oh, and thanks for advertising my new chapter too. ^_^

If you want to know, the life monsters are custom cards made by Aelsthla-Mental of this site. They were to be used by his own character.

In fact, check the yugioh fanfic "Remnants of Power" in fanfiction.net to catch his life monsters in action.

anyhoo great chapter

[/quote']

slacker is someone who slacks or over-relaxes.

Clair is not a slacker, just inexperienced in how the world works AKA a rookie is more fitting

This chapter's name is based of an archetype of monster that resembles a group of spaceships AKA the B.E.S monsters.

Ch 8-Cosmic Armada

Ch 8-Cosmic Armada

As Clair woke up, she tuned in to her TV to watch a startling news.

“Pro League duelist, Dox Corowler, who had been recently defeated by Noland Blight, had been reported as missing. A local bartender claims that Dox was last seen walking to an alley with several mysterious figures in cloaks. If you have any information regarding Dox Crowler’s whereabouts, please go to the Police Station. This is Mary Willis, reporting to you.”

Later in the day, she called in Penny & Miora for an urgent matter. They were to meet at a café.

“Well, good riddance to bad duelists. I never did like him anyway,” proclaimed Penny.

“But still, I have this vision of Dox being defeated by some cloaked person,” said Clair, “and it felt so real.”

“Well, don’t you worry,” said Miora, “let’s take a walk to keep things straight.”

Then, they all went out to walk for a while. Suddenly, 2 boys ran through the 3 girls & collided with them. It was followed by a cloaked man bumping directly into Miora.

“Watch where you’re going!” yelled Penny.

But the man apparently didn’t hear her as he simply continued running. Penny, angry at that man, also chased him, in which the other 2 girls followed as well.

The cloaked man stopped at an alley, cornering off the 2 boys.

“Do you 2 honestly believe that you can escape the Master…”said the cloaked man.

“Jerk, come & face me like a man!” yelled Penny, who was behind, along with Miora & Clair.

“I see you got a Duel Disk, so how about we duel,” demanded Penny.

“I have no time for…” said the man before he stopped due to a headache of sorts.

“That girl has lots of power in her. Duel her now!” said a voice that only the cloaked man could hear.

“Fine then, I’ll duel you,” said the man, who regained his composure.

“So how should I call you?” inquired Penny.

“I have no name, only a reference number,” replied the man, who revealed that he was wearing an iron mask with a ruby on the forehead, “88.”

88: (LP: 4000) Penny (LP: 4000)

88: (LP: 4000) Penny (LP: 4000)

“I draw & play the spell card Star Blast,” said 88.

88: (LP: 3500) Penny (LP: 4000)

88: (LP: 3500) Penny (LP: 4000)

“By paying 500 life points, I can lower the Levels of a monster in my hand by 1 for this turn only,” said 88, “that means I can summon it, B.E.S Crystal Core.” (ATK: 2100)

Then, a crystalline spaceship with a blue core appeared from the sky & descended. 3 shields were then placed onto the monster, covering its core.

“When Crystal Core is summoned, I can place 3 counters on him,” said 88, “I play the spell cards Boss Rush & Battleship Shield Base & end my turn.”

The Boss Rush card appeared, along with another card depicting a Big Core being repaired by several mechanical extensions.

“What they do, I wonder?” asked Miora.

“I heard that Boss Rush summons another B.E.S monster when one is destroyed, but I don’t know anything about the other card,” replied Clair.

“Then I’ll go now!” said Penny as she drew, “I play the Field Spell called Realm of Light & summon Jain.” (ATK: 1800)

The field was then transformed into a shining palace of a Greek design & a paladin in white armor also appeared.

“I also play Solar Exchange to discard my Hunter Ryko to draw 2 cards, but I must send the next 2 cards to my graveyard,” Penny said, “by the effect of Realm of Light, it gains a Shine Counter which gives my Lightsworns 100 ATK.” (ATK: 1800~1900)

Jain grew stronger with power & a lupine beast appeared as well. (ATK: 2100)

“1 of those card discarded was Wulf, which I can summon automatically,” said Penny, “now I’ll attack Crystal Core with Jain.” (ATK: 1900~2200)

Jain charged at Crystal Core with her sword & it only struck 1 of the shields & broke it. The shards flew towards 88.

88: (LP: 3400) Penny (LP: 4000)

“B.E.S monsters cannot be destroyed in battle & when they engage in combat, they will lose 1 of their shields only,” said 88.

“I end my turn then,” said Penny after she discarded her deck. (ATK: 1900~2000, 2100~2200)

“It’s my turn now,” said 88, “I will use Crystal Core’s effect to change your Wulf’s battle position by removing 1 of his shields.”

1 of Crystal Core’s shield then disappeared & Wulf knelt. (DEF: 300)

“I equip my Crystal Core with Fairy Meteor Crush,” 88 said, “I’ll now attack your pitiful Wulf with Crystal Cannon.”

Crystal Core fired a laser from its cannon & blasted Wulf.

88: (LP: 3400) Penny (LP: 2200)

88: (LP: 3400) Penny (LP: 2200)

“I took damage, guess that gives your monster a trampling effect,” claimed Penny, in which 88 nodded as his response.

“I end my turn,” said 88.

“I’ll go!” shouted Penny, “I Release Jain for Gragonith!” (ATK: 2000~3200)

Jain disappeared in light & a dragon of light appeared.

“He gains 300 ATK for every Lightsworn in my graveyard & he’ll blast your Crystal Core with Shining Blaze!”

This time, Crystal Core exploded in flames.

88: (LP: 2300) Penny (LP: 2200)

88: (LP: 2300) Penny (LP: 2200)

“Since Crystal Core battled without his shields, he’s destroyed automatically,” said 1 of the boys, who was the younger of the duo.

“Yes, but I got that covered,” replied 88.

“I discard 3 cards off my deck & that’s all,” said Penny. (ATK: 3200~3300)

Just then, another gigantic battleship appeared. This one had a red core & had cannons all around it. 3 shields were then formed to cover the core.

“That’s my B.E.S Magma Core,” (ATK: 2400) 88 said.

“But it was special summoned, so it couldn’t have gained those shields…” inquired the older boy.

“Normally, but Battleship Shield Base lets all B.E.S monsters to be treated as Normal Summoned,” explained 88, “Now it’s my turn & I remove 1 of its shields, so that Magma Core can give you 500 points of damage.”

1 of Magma Core’s shield disappeared & a cannon aimed for Penny & fired at her.

88: (LP: 2300) Penny (LP: 1700)

88: (LP: 2300) Penny (LP: 1700)

“End turn,” said 88.

“I draw,” Penny said, “now I attack your Magma Core!”

Gragonith breathed his flames, but it only scorched a shield.

88: (LP: 1400) Penny (LP: 1700)

“That’s all for me after I place 3 more cards to my grave,” Penny said. (ATK: 3300~3400)

“I draw,” 88 said, “I play Twister to destroy Boss Rush & summon the Tuner monster Core Synchron.” (ATK: 1000)

88: (LP: 900) Penny (LP: 1700)

A tornado blew to destroy the Boss Rush card & the other card was destroyed as well, then a futuristic-looking robot with a glowing core appeared. (ATK: 1000)

“I will tune THE Level 6 Magma Core with the Level 2 Core Synchron to Synchro Summon Bombardment Sky Base!” 88 announced as his monsters disappeared to form a gigantic battleship with multiple cannons attached. (ATK: 2000) It floated to a very high altitude.

“Now I use its effect & discard a trap card called Full Salvo to give you 1000 points of damage. Go, Air Raid Bomb Shower!”

The Sky Base opened up a hatch to drop multiple bombs at Penny. They all exploded on Penny, causing her lots of damage.

88: (LP: 900) Penny (LP: 700)

88: (LP: 900) Penny (LP: 700)

“My Sky Base can’t attack you now, so I play Gadget Box to summon a Gadget Token,” said 88 as a small robot (ATK: 0) & the spell card appeared, “end turn.”

“Why would he summon that?” wondered Clair.

“Because Bombardment Sky Base is at such a high altitude that it could not defend the player at all,” said the older boy, “the Gadget Tokens are just a way to defend himself.”

“Then I will now draw!” cried Penny, “I will Release Gragonith for Celestia, the Lightsworn Angel!” (ATK: 2300)

The white dragon vanished in a portal, which an angel in white armor flew out of.

“Since I Released a lightsworn to summon her, I can send 4 cards in my deck to the graveyard, just to destroy 2 cards,” Penny said as she discarded the cards & Celestia unleashed 2 waves that destroyed the Gadget Token & Gadget Box too, “since your Sky Base is too busy up there, I’ll occupy your time here. Celestia, attack him with Shining Scepter Blast!”

Celestia raised her staff & unleashed an energy blast at 88.

88: (LP: 0) Penny (LP: 700)

88 fell backwards & his mask broke apart. Curious, Clair took a closer look & realized the man’s true identity.

“Girls, look,” said Clair, “It’s Dox Crowler.”

“I don’t get it,” wondered Penny, “first he’s missing, and now he’s chasing 2 guys & duelled me.”

“Thanks for saving us from the Overmind’s minions,” said the younger boy.

Clair placed her palm on the mask’s remaining pieces & then something went on inside her mind.

Clair herself was in a blank area. Suddenly, a shot of flames erupted onto the scene & everything in the area burnt away. A shadow of a man appeared in front of her. He was covered in a full-body armour, along with a flowing crimson cape.

“Greetings, Clair,” said the armored man.

“Who are you?” demanded Clair.

“The absolute god of the new world order,” said the man, “the Overmind. I seek for strong fighters in my forces, like you.”

“But what’s this all about?” asked Clair, but the Overmind & the flames dispersed as Clair returned to reality.

Clair was beside Dox, who was awaking up. The others were also there as well. Miora was staring the younger one of the 2 boys.

“Now I remember you! You’re Macro De’Lai!” exclaimed Miora.

“I am?” replied Macro.

“So you’re Macro,” said the older boy, “he had lost his memories somehow, so he couldn’t remember very well. I’m Fuyuki by the way.”

“Miora,” said Miora, “this is Clair & the one who duelled 88 is called Penny.”

“Thanks, girl,” Dox said softly, “sorry if I was too harsh on you girls.”

“Don’t mention it,” replied Penny, “but Clair, what happened?”

“Nothing, but there’s someone out there & he’s planning something big on us,” said Clair as she stared into the sky, as if someone was calling her.

Meanwhile, on the top of a tower in a aerial fortress, the Overmind stood along 2 other men. 1 wore black-plate armor & a red scarf, while the other wore a blue armor with golden trimmings.

“Now Clair Kinet knows of our existence,” said Overmind, “her capture is a must. Do you 2 understand?”

“We hear & obey, great Overmind,” said the 2 knights in unison, who knelt before their leader as he retreated back to the fortress.

Card of the Day

Battleship Shield Base

Continuous Spell

Activate only when you have "Boss Rush" on your side of the field. When a "B.E.S" monster or "Big Core" is Special Summoned by the effect of "Boss Rush", it gains the same number of counters it would have gained by its own effect. When "Boss Rush" is removed from the field, this card is sent to the Graveyard.

Bombardment Sky Base

LIGHT/Machine-Synchro/LV 8/ATK 2000/DEF 3000

This card cannot be destroyed by Spell, Trap, or Monster effects. If this is the only monster on your side of the field, your opponent can attack your Life Points directly. Once per turn, by sending one "Full Salvo" from your hand or your deck to the Graveyard, inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent OR you can remove one "Full Salvo" in your Graveyard from play to destroy a card on your opponent’s side of the field. If this card's effect is activated, this card cannot declare aN attack this turn.

Overmind: The cards to be spoken of are the following shown above that I handed to Dox as part of his new deck. The 1st one, Battleship Shield Base, allows B.E.S monsters to be armed with shields as long as they had been summoned via Boss Rush. The 2nd card is the Synchro Monster Bombardment Sky Base. By discarding the Full Salvo trap card, damage is inflicted instantly. However, since it resides at high altitudes, it can’t defend the player at all.

Dox: And that’s why I don’t like Gradius. That game sucks!
Miora: As we returned to home to sort things out, we met someone whom we least expected…

Penny: If it’s a fight you want, then it’s a fight you…

Norman: Chill out, you 2! Clair, it’s time you learn more about yourself. Trust me on this.

Clair: Ok then. Next on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind-Chapter 9-Ultimate Destiny!

?: None shall pass or bargain without a duel.

(Everyone going back to Penny’s house)

(Norman standing near the house)

(Clair performing some sort of ritual)

(A figure in a black cloak standing in front of a gate over a sea of fire)

I see, the whole plot is comming out. :O

;). Keep going.

And for your next chapter, Ultimate Destiny, are you talking about Destiny Heroes?

[/quote']

that was a intentional mislead, the truth is rather the true destiny of all things in creation.

Sorry for slow review, was away.

The life monsters. So good to see them in action *sniff*. They won it too! Better a victory to a minor character then a loss to a main one i say (and considering Dox's appearances, i'd have to say he is one of the major minor characters, if that makes sense :)). Speaking of which, i should probably give you some more of them for future duels. Perhaps even a synchro, i've done fusion and ritual...

Oh, and i think i saw an error or two in chapter 7

Duellist (LP: 2100) Dox (LP: 1400)

“I will attack that Life…whatever you call it now with Mechanised Melee!” Dox shouted as Ancient Gear Golem destroyed the sorcerer.

Duellist (LP: 3100) Dox (LP: 400)

“What just happened!” exclaimed Dox, unsure of what happened.

“That’s the power of my Life Manipulator,” said the cloaked duellist, ”when he’s destroyed, he can take away your life points & give me some of them. Since he has been around for 2 turns, you take 1000 points of damage & I gain 1000 life points.”

Slight error in life points, Duellist should have lost 500 from the attack, so really should have only gained 500 life points.

And you accidentally put a smiley in here:

“I will remove my Life Manipulator to call forth Life from Below!” (ATKConfused, DEF: ?)

And it's nice to see the Gradius deck in action. I've seen it a few times with cards to add shields with boss rush. Wasn't there someone who posted they were going to make a structure deck like that, even with a few pics and such to make it look genuine? Anyway, you did a good job with it.

I also found it unusual that you named the brainwashed Dox 88, 8 is my favorite number you know! Also unusual is that they gave the brainwashed Dox a ruby on his head, probably a cheap fake.

And i'll finish with what i thought was the funniest line in chapter 8: Pro League duelist, Dox Corowler, who had been recently defeated by Noland Blight, had been reported as missing. A local bartender claims that Dox was last seen walking to an alley with several mysterious figures in cloaks.

Mental: I also have some ideas for your like cards & read your fanfic to see how they work too,I'm also pumping in some of my own life cards too. The ruby is used to gain control over a person, though stronger people or those back upped by higher creatures can resist the control. And the funny part, that's why I intended. Some light humour because it will get very serious when the real plot comes in.
