Debates is a sub-subsection of General. Having to Mod Debates would also require modding General' date=' which I don't think Icyblue applied for.

[/quote']

No it wouldn't.

lrn2forumplz.

Mod powers can be applied anywhere, in any fashion.

^

That's what Faint is trying to say.

As far as I know' date=' none of the Mods are limited to a subsection alone. I am fully aware of how Mod powers can be applied, I'm just referring to how they seem to be usually established here.

[/quote']

Then your statement was a generalization. Therefore, it was shot down.

Class Me?

Yeah, you heard it. There should be a sticky thread in Showcase, and if it succeeds and becomes good enough, maybe a subfourm/forum more organized?

There should be a team of about 5 - 10 good GFX raters, and that actually give CnC, to start classing people's art.

How does it work?

1 - The one that wants to be rated must show 5 pieces of artwork (may show more).

2 - The team that classifies his artwork, and gives him a rank (There should be levels, IE: Novice, Expert, ect.).

3 - When 3 team members have already ranked the art, then, the average rank that these members give, is the total rank from the user.

4 - One member can only be classed once per 1 month.

5 - ???

6 - PROFIT.

Maybe someone should make things like the YCM Awards things, but with the ranks that are set in the thread, so they can place it in their sig.

I claim the rights that when people start flaming this idea, I won't respond to them =)

Debates is a sub-subsection of Polls. Icyblue would need to moderate Polls' date=' therefore making him moderating General. Having to Mod Debates would also require modding Polls, also making him moderate General, which I don't think Icyblue applied for.

[/quote']

Fixed.

Also, Debates should have its own section, but the level this debates are at, they're not debates =/.

Which is why we need someone like Icy in charge of it so that a certain member who is ruining the Debates section will be banned.

Yes this should put an end to ragnarok =D

Yeah, ruin the section that is the LEAST popular! Just because he likes to converse is no reason to try and get him banned. I don't see you two contributing much to the Debates section, now do I?

Here's an suggestion: Harsher reprimands for outright flaming of forum members?

I'm sorry to disagree with you in there Saturn.

Conversing isn't debating.

Its choosing a side and explaining why he chose it.

Convincing someone to chose the same as you in that matter.

Conversing and discussing about it, is General, not debating.

I won't talk about Ragnarok's situation, which is a completely different thing, that is messed up in this discussion.

And conversing cannot tell why someone has chosen their position? Also, I've seen a few of his posts getting members to explain themselves..and I don't even really go to that section.

Since the Debates section is the least popular anyway, why not get rid of it?

Oh' date=' I have another idea. [:
I believe we should alter the maximum amount of reputation points given each day.

For example, we could set up some sort of organized system:

>Members that are classified as one-star members - Maximum: One reputation point per day.

>Members that are classified as two-star members - Maximum: Two reputation points per day.

>Members that are classified as three-star members - Maximum: Three reputation points per day.

>Members that are classified as four-star members - Maximum: Four reputation points per day.

>Members that are classified as five-star members - Maximum: Five reputation points per day.

>Members that are classified as six-star members - Maximum: Six reputation points per day.

The reason for slightly increasing the maximum amount of reputation points per day for the higher ranked members, would be that members who are higher ranked, tend to be more experienced than newer members. These higher ranked members, are usually the people that host forum events, and in these forum events, prizes are used to attract the attention of the members of YCM. I've noticed that the hosts have to wait long periods of time, in order for all the prizes that involve reputation points to be handed out. So, in order to fix this problem, we can increase the maximum of reputation points given each day.

Lower ranked members, have a reasonable maximum of one reputation point per day, and with one, the newer members may be easily monitored, as a follow-up to see if they're properly following the rules. So, in order to work up to a higher maximum of reputation points, they'll have to contribute more to the forum, by posting more.

This organized system, gives members rewards along the way, which will guarantee that most of them will be eager to reach their goals.

Activity will surely increase throughout YCM.

This suggestion never really formed into a discussion; may I please bring it up again?

Thanks.

To do that, there should be 6 different usergroups.

Lets make it 3:

New Members - 0 - 50 posts. Cannot give reps.

Members - 50 - 3000 posts: 3 reps per day

Elite Members - 3000 - Infinite: 6 reps per day.

Maximum reps are set by Usergroup, not Stars.

Kinda not. He uses a General tone of the situations. At least, of the ones I've seen. Icy's guide should summarize what I'm trying to say. But bleh, the debaters nowadays are meh =/.

Also, don't delete it. Why?

BECAUSE MEMBERS ASKED FOR IT FOR LIKE 1 YEAR AND THEN WHEN IT GOT DONE NO ONE USED IT =).

He's not the only smart one who like Ragnarok.

Just because he posts his views, you hate him. He may have a different way of getting his point across, but I think it is fine. You're all just jealous of him getting 6 stars. Now please, shall we find a new subject? ^_^

Oh man; how I love ironic typo's. However, I disagree with you for two reasons:

1. Intelligence doesn't come from posting ability nor how known you are. If that were true, George Bush would be of the same caliber and composure as Stalin. So, no, you're not smarter by having a larger base of familiarity. Suggesting so just provides further evidence to argue you're truly the opposite.

2. Ragnarok doesn't have a posting intellect. His posts are random; contorted rebuttals that are both repetitive in terms of what you just typed; and also composed of a consistent "It's a conspiracy" nature.

Eg.

Person 1:

"The Government should be more socialistic for individual benefit."

Ragnarok:

"Socialism is a good thing for individual benefit. but how would you know?"

Etc.

Also, the man has no sense of logic. In a Debate over the colonization of Mars; he suggested both:

-We colonize Venus. In case you didn't know, we haven't even had a space shuttle last more than a minute at most on Venus.

-We use the Sun as a weapon against Asteroids. The sun. The freaking sun. If he meant Solar Energy; that's an equally retarded suggestion to combat an Asteroid.

Face it, being sweet on the guy doesn't make his metabolism end product anymore founded. He is a spammer. He is hated because of this. Being 0.00689% of the majority doesn't make your opinion somehow right. That being said, being in the majority also doesn't make your opinion right, but it still suggests the truth behind what your saying if such a mass believes in it. =\.

The only other people that frequently use the Debate section to this day; which would be Willieh if he wasn't banned; agreed that whilst Rangarok isn't a bad guy, he cannot Debate without spamming profusely. He merely cannot.

Hell, I won the Best Debater award, and I haven't even touched the section due to the P.O.V's he makes. It's unappealing, and should have some sort of jurisdiction imposed against it. Freaking hell, it needs to.

How can I be jealous if I have six stars myself?

Tightening the Debate Rules and strictly enforcing them would be a start. Not only do we stop bad debaters from being annoying, we also make the Debate Section actually serve its purpose properly.

You're all just jealous of him getting 6 stars.

What the hell do I and most other 6 Star members have to be jealous about? I have 6 Stars and taking away my early spammy Posts would still equal 6 Stars for me.

I would like to see YCMaker installing a plug-in that automatically lock inactive threads [except pinned]. For example :: Time of Inactivity:: 2 weeks -> gets locked. If nobody posts in it within 2 weeks it should get locked. That would lower the spam rate.

This is a suggestion mostly to Browarod, because he is the only one that deletes reps.

I say that when someone gives a stupid neg (mostly the noobs) they should get a 10% warning.

I don't think Brow does that, because I see the same noobs negging someone with the same reason after it was deleted.

Of course, a valid reason from the Super Mod about why the rep was invalid should be sent by PM. =/

I doubt the moderators will have time for that. Though it's a good idea. The problem is that there are too many posts per day in that thread. =) but it's a great idea.

What about bumping threads. >.>

Thanks for reminding me about my second suggestion.
I propose a "Dead Threads" Section in the Other Forum, beneath Introductions. Mods of their respective section will lock threads that have long since died, and move as many locked threads as they want to that section. Card Contests is exempt from this for obvious reasons.

Furthermore, there should be an automatic bump button. This button can only be used with the same thread every 24 hours. This might use up a lot of bandwidth though.

If not, I think its impossible.
