I do think the flashback could have worked had it been set up even a little (my suggestion of showing Gajeel reaction to the dead council women earlier). As is though, it just didn't work. And here I was hoping that the "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist" would be a combination attack with Gajeel. Oh well, so much for expecting something more than just Natsu punching something. Mard Geer continues to be a lousy villain. His thorn attacks just really drove him this idea to me, which is that he's a poor man's Marluxia. Oh well.
