Yes, Even Garbodor

Recommended Posts

It looks a bit too much like a mutated mouse for my taste. In fact, whenever I would see its Gen V sprite, I would initially think of a mouse-like Pokemon, which looked hideous, rather than an overstuffed garbage bag. Its concept as a trash bag Pokemon doesn't bother me.

In fact, I rather like the drawing.

Besides, Gothitelle has my hatred among the Gen V Pokemon.

I actually like Trubbish.

I never got the Garbodor hate.

Muk exists, and is infinitely worse as a design, so people were just blinded by nostalgia.

At least this one resembles a bear.

It's more about the idea/premise.

And yeah; in agreement about Muk.

Why? Is it because she's more wall-like than offensive?

No, it's because Gothitelle (and Gothita) are just hideous looking. Gothorita isn't too bad.

I dunno how to explain it, exactly. As far as actual usage goes, they're fine, but I loathe their designs. They remind me of someone who put on too much makeup, which ironically damages their beauty rather than enhances it.

That's a pretty good analogy.

it's a pile of sludge

what doesn't make sense

Yes, but Garbodor is a pile of litter with mammalian-esque features... they're both pretty odd.

Muk at least has "A toxic fluid seeps from its body. The fluid instantly kills plants and trees on contact." as a dex entry, which makes it pretty terrifying.

... Okay, think about it like this.

people cite vanillite and trubbish' lines as reasons GameFreak is running out of ideas. Say that they're some of the worst designs in the series.

A simple glance at Gen 1 shows Muk, whose design is completely uninspired. It's literally just sludge. Citing an in-game description of it isn't part of the core design. There are also many more basic animals early on, such as Ponyta or Seel, and Rhydon/Nidoking/Nidoqueen all look relatively the same.

That's the point about Muk, moreso about people blaming Garbodor for no reason.

Thanks for explaining, also I agree. I just didn't really get the bit about Muk being infinitely worse design than Garbodor.

I don't hate Garbodor, some of my best friends are rubbish...
