Brooke wasn’t able to identify the medicine they had used, or what exactly they were doing her world was spinning so badly, but she knew that within a few minutes she was feeling much better. Her temperature had dropped down to a reasonable (for a Fire-type) level, and the worst or her burns and cuts had been treated with some kind of gels or creams that had taken the sting off. “Thank you, for everything,” she told Sam, reaching for her coin purse to pull  out a handful of Poké and lay it on the table. “That should cover all of the food we ate today, and the stuff you used to treat me, plus a tip for being so kind.”

She pushed herself to her feet, stretching her arms to the sky to work out a crick in her neck, groaning. With a small smile, she plucked her hat off the table and laid it back on top of her head. “Thanks for holding onto it for me, Dora. Are you two about ready to go home? Sun’s getting real low.” The answer was overwhelmingly obvious, and she led the pair to the door, holding it open for them as she cast one last look over her shoulder at Sam.

They made it home when the sun was just barely visible in the horizon, painting the sky a beautiful hue of reds and pinks and oranges. Brooke stopped to admire the view as she reached for her key in the pocket of her pants, sliding it into the door and turning until she heard a click. “Home sweet home, girls,” she said, sweeping an arm across the front room like she was revealing something grand. “I dunno about you, but I’ve never been more glad to get home myself.”

She made her way into the kitchen, starting some tea before returning to the front room. “Do you want to have tea with me, or would you rather just go to bed? If so, I’m sure Dora could show you to your room, Fawkes. It’s just next to hers. It used to be storage, so it’s kind of dusty, but I went out and got a bed and a few of the basics when I knew you were gonna be staying with me. We can go out and get a bit more tomorrow, but for now, it should work.”

Day 9

"Well, you coming or what?"

"Yeah yeah, hold your leopards," Ari grumbled before turning back to the Diglett. "Byeee! You were cool; I'm glad I didn't eat you!"

When they reached the surface, the Litleo immediately stretched his arms while Mac looked around. "Ugh he's gone. I bet he'll be back... I don't think staying here would be a good idea anyway."

"So what'll we do? Leave?" He really wanted them to head east, since he came from the west. He didn't feel ready to return to Pride Rock just yet. Especially after what Regirock told him. Something about those words...tickled at his brain. Like, they reminded him of something he had heard of a long time ago. But...he couldn't remember.

"I guess...technically we won since that guy ran away."

"Oh yeah! We did! Go us!" he pumped his fist. One step closer to being a Chaser. Though... If Regirock was right, then...he was a long ways from that. But Kazo and Kah were Chasers, so that didn't make sense! Or maybe there were just multiple kinds of Chasers? He shook his head. My brain hurts...

And then Kah woke up, growling "Put me down," and her growling reminded the lion he was hungry. Oh yeah, did they ever eat?

"Maybe when you don't sound as pathetic as I actually am," Kazo replied to her growl. "For now, let's just get to a town. Kah's gonna to need medical help, and I still owe her a Dragon Gem. I hope there's a hot spring or something there... Could go for a dip..."

"And food!" Ari chimed in eagerly. "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole zebra. Maybe even a whole Zebstrika!"

Easter didn't know what to think. Part of him felt, well, ashamed that he hadn't done much to help. Ridiculous, he scoffed. After all, he'd done plenty. Just not...as much effort as he'd thought he'd put into while fighting a legend. They were, after all, the best of the best, and deserved 110%.

Still, Rei's injury had been a setback he hadn't calculated. They were, after all, old deckmates, exasperating though she might be. Still, he had to prioritize, and Whisper was highly capable. He'd seen that much. Aid an ally who couldn't fight anymore, or one who was still going? The choice was obvious. Still, he'd grown to like the graceful Absol in the short time they'd traveled together, so leaving her to face a legend on her own was not only a blow to his own pride, but to his sense of honor, twisted though it was.

And now this. He'd managed to find Noishe trailing behind in the hills near Deku, and left Rei in his care. He had thought about staying, but he found that, old deckmates or not, he couldn't stay there. He had other places to go, more of Adarid to see, and, like a leaf drifting in the wind, he let the path choose itself.

Day 8

BGM

Thus, like this, he found himself standing on the streets of Deku. He had never visited this place, but he'd heard stories. And he found those stories to be true when he caught a young Poochyena attempting to pickpocket him. He didn't make a fuss over it, gliding away from the grasping hands, still wary over his position here. After all, he looked like a girl. A young, innocent girl. They thought him an easy mark. If all went well, he'd end up conning the conmen, and it would be glorious.

Though, strolling through the town, he found it harder to pull the wool over their eyes. Harder than most gijinka. Well, after all, they were used to people trying to take advantage, resulting in hardboiled, ruthless characters. He bared a not-very-nice grin and wondered if these people would actually force him to spend some of his Poké for once.

After all, it was almost lunchtime, and a guy had to eat. He decided to stop at a sushi bar manned by a Bisharp with a strange accent. Though the Bisharp didn't fall for his charms, the food (and the entertainment of watching it being prepared before his eyes, and by a dark type no less) was worth every coin.

"So where you from? I never see one like you before in motherland. Oh, sorry, I am rude. I mean, I am Sam, not rude."

Easter snickered. "It's fine. I'm from Northshore, though there aren't that many Sylveon there either. We're a bit of a rarity." Which was true. Compared to the other Eeveelutions, the requirements to evolve into a Sylveon were a bit more precise. Not only did they have to know a fairy move, but they also had to be fairy-ly spoiled as well. That ghost girl has been rubbing off on me, he grumbled internally.

He spent the rest of his time at the bar chatting with the friendly dark type. Still, the fairy type's eyes were watchful, noting how the blades never once made a mistake in their chopping, and how the Bisharp could both do that and hold a conversation at the same time.

Coldharbour

While she sat on the bed, she huffed as she realized it would be a cold night in the inn.  However, she was startled when Scarlet threw her arms around her body, and proceeded to almost cuddle against her.  Scarlet wouldn't be able to see it, but the shark was almost steaming from how red she was turning.

"We can tear them to shreds tomorrow. Right now, well...we should probably huddle for warmth. These blankets are a bit on the light side"

Taiga almost jumped out of her skin and onto the floor.

"J-j-j-j-just hold your Horseas there C-C-C-Chrome Dome!  You can't just up and do that to me...sharks are pretty sensitive to touch...didn't you know."  Taiga sensually rubbed the side of her arm, her head facing the floor.  The red had yet to leave her cheeks.  "And it's not like I wanted to rub against that cold skin of yours!  FUFUFUFU!"  It was obviously a bold faced lie...she'd cuddle with Scarlet regardless.  Tonight they'd be super close, talking about their pasts...their secrets...their dreams...She could almost die!  It was then that something popped out from inside the unlocked dresser.

"Stop fiends! I know not what treachery you wanted to employ on me but it has failed! I know where you came from, you're pirates, here to steal our stuff!"

It looked to be like a young frogadier of sorts.  Taiga grinded her teeth together.  The red in her face turned from an embarrassing type, to a furious type.  Her fists clenched, as she held herself back from knocking the kid's lights out.

"Pirates ehhhhhhhhhhhh!?  If we were Pirates, what makes you think we'd stay in this crummy, Podunk, cold as dirt town instead of wrecking this place eh!?!?!?"  She crossed her arms, signaling the boy to come forward with one finger.  "How dare you ruin the moo-eeeeeeeer, I mean hide in our room!  Didn't your parents ever tell you not to spy on two ladies while they're in private?!"  Taiga flexed an arm and patted it with the other hand.  "I don't wanna get kicked out of this place for causing a ruckus, but how else will a perv learn their place!"  She chomped down as she opened and closed her mouth, the clattering of sharp teeth echoed in the room.  "You better not have messed up that pie either!  Old lady vibrava will kill me if that pastry gets popped!  If it's even got a scratch on it, I'm going to pop you too!"

Team Neo Not Dark, Deku

Dora beamed at Brooke as she praised her, swaying back and forth all the way home. Though part way through she started to drift off and kept bumping into Fawkes, eventually practically leaning on the girl and sleep-walking into the house.

When Brooke mentioned tea the girl seemed excited...but then collapsed to the floor, asleep.

When she woke up the next day it was almost noon, and she had a throbbing pain in her back that she had no idea how it got there. Groaning she literally rolled out of bed and out into the hallway. She didn't even try to stand until she was in the middle of the front room of the house. She flopped about a bit before flinching from the dull pain and deciding she was going to just lay there for a while. "Gee when di-" Suddenly there was a loud crack of thunder outside. "Ooooh what was that?"

***

The day had been, for Deku, peaceful. A new face showed up which caused several of the residents much joy. Less joy when they discovered the "package" the pretty girl was carrying, but still an exciting event.

The two thugs from before had decided to try one last trick in the gambling casino, since their kidnapping plans had gone south.
This was their undoing.

They had challenged the Mythical Gambler, the most skilled gambler in all the land, to one last bout and failed completely. When they said they had no money to give they Gambler got angry. But when they accused him of cheating, things really got messy.

The roof of the gambling den suddenly was blown off, as a massive bolt of Thunder struck it, setting the whole place ablaze. Rising from the flames was the Mythical Gambler. His cloak has caught fire on his way up and he threw it aside, revealing the form underneath. A rumbling, booming, voice came from him, and the entire city could hear him announce. "You dare accuse me, Thundurus, of CHEATING? Your pathetic town has served to entertain me but I will not have this insult!" After saying thus he began raining Thunder down upon the buildings. People started screaming, scattering, as his uncontrollable rage washed over the city. One of the first buildings to face his wrath was a shop, owned by a young Emboar named Brooke.

***

Meanwhile a rather unusual Lucario was then preparing to attack Juyu. However he tilted his head as he felt a sudden surge of power, coming from the direction of Deku. It seemed he knew where he'd go next...

Team Mac, Forest to Southshore

Mac was starting to get excited again. Kah was okay, and everyone was ready to go go go! "Yeah let's head out, it'll be great!" He belly rumbled. "I guess you didn't get any food...er...well whatever, let's go! I'm sure we'll find something!"

A day passed, no food. The group was starting to feel extremely hungry. Mac could be found gnawing on some roots she picked up off the ground earlier. "Ugggh this sucks! We need to find...erm, what is it Ari?" She had looked up to see Ari staring at her with a wide smile, which she didn't know what it was for. Moments later the boy pushed her over and started running off, with Mac's pack. "Hey what are you doing Ari!?" She said, before taking off into the woods, off the path.

Meanwhile, Ari would be extremely confused as to why Mac had ran off after calling his name, while he had been walking beside her.

"That's...a lot more effective than I thought. I should do that more often."

The feeling of unloading all those energy she gathered into one big burst of attack was orgasmic for Celia, but seeing it actually managing to eliminate one of the clones made it even more satisfying. It was dampened by the fact that the icicle's gone and how the clone managed to block enough of the beam to stop her from helping Nine avoid the incoming Air Slash however. Returning to her senses after the momentary high, she then noticed that one of the Xatus floated into the air, and summoned two more clones to accompany her, replacing the ones that she and Nine had defeated.

"No end to those damn clones, huh? It's like Attack of the Clones all over again.

And sheesh, they didn't even show any emotion when popped. The real deal would be more fun in this case.

Can't wait to break that emotionless side of her to pieces~"

She smiled at herself as she thought about it, but with the condition of the battle being quite dire, Celia returned her focus and thought about what she should do next. Well, there wasn't really much else that she could do with the weather not really favoring her this time. Being a psychic type, Dazzling Gleam would not even blind the Xatu, and it wouldn't even be able to deal much damage. Dragonbreath...she couldn't actually bank on its capability to hit Xatu's nerves to stop her momentarily.

And so, she decided to use her Dragon Dance instead. She would need to be in a right mindset if she wanted to cut the Xatu apart satisfyingly. The series of movements she did was shorter this time, as she didn't have much time to do a lot outside of the necessary movements to awaken her dragon blood's potential. It's an ugly performance, but it was necessary. She could atone for this terrible dance later once this would be all done. Perhaps the muses up above would like if if she offered the heart of a powerful "godslayer" to them? Would that make them happy enough to forgive her?

Ah, but that's just some naive thoughts. She'd probably would just do a better performance for the Houndoom later tonight, although thinking about it, offering a heart did sound pretty much like something fun to try out. Blood for someone as powerful would make her look a lot more erotic too, so that's something she should try out.

"Outrage." Celia declared her next move calmly. She, in no way, looked like she was affected by madness or frenzy as talons of fire formed on her arms and her body lit up with dragon fire. She looked as calm and elegant as before as she blitzed upwards like a bullet towards the Xatu as she attempted to tear her apart. There was no need to be upset, no need to be enraged.

She's already twisted, so why would something twist it further?

Today, Deku had been relatively peaceful. No doubt somebody was up to something somewhere in town, but at least where Fawkes and her new pals were, things were passable to decent today. The Zorua slept well the night before, with dreams of being a bold and heroic Zoroark swooping in to rescue a cute Quagsire in distress from horrific monsters, darting across a vast metropolis to escape the assailants. For the most part, her dream was really just a very romanticized version of yesterday's events. Once she'd confirmed the attackers had been ditched, Fawkes was rewarded with a kiss. And then...

And then she woke up, with a hot red face and a very vivid picture of what had happened in her dream. Note to self. Don't drink tea right before bed. Did Brooke put something in there, by any chance? It was all just a dream, anyway! None of that stuff in her dream had actually happened, so it didn't matter. Shaking it off, Fawkes got out of bed and got dressed for the day. It had been an hour or two before Dora had woken up herself, and rolled into the main room. Yes, rolled...she was a bit of an odd one, wasn't she? She flopped around for a bit - probably in an attempt to get up - before deciding to just stay down there.

"Gee when di-"

Fawkes visibly jumped out of her seat and onto a pair of very alert feet at the explosive sound.

"Ooooh what was that?"

Fawkes was too busy trying to calm herself down to even bother registering the booming voice making its declaration to the people of Deku. If she didn't know better, she'd swear her heart had stopped and that she was going to die. Once she'd spent a few seconds collecting herself again and had ceased being a shaking mess that could barely stand up properly, Fawkes took a deep breath. "Sounds like a storm," Fawkes commented. "A big one. Deku's...not really well-prepared for that kind of thing. Everything is poorly-built so even if we're lucky and the house isn't destroyed by lightning, we'll be lucky to get out of this with our roof intact. Then there's the really real problem with water damage since the roof will leak all over the place and if it's too windy the house might just get blown apart and we'll have nowhere to run and..."

Fawkes had managed to turn herself into a shaking pile of nerves and fear for the second time today, over the same event.

"Maybe when you don't sound as pathetic as I actually am."

How insolent. Calling me pathetic? How dare...ow, my everything...

"For now, let's just get to a town. Kah's gonna to need medical help, and I still owe her a Dragon Gem. I hope there's a hot spring or something there... Could go for a dip..."

"And food! I'm so hungry I could eat a whole zebra. Maybe even a whole Zebstrika!"

"Only one?" Kah asked in response to Ari mentioning how hungry he was. It was probably too quiet for him to hear anyway, but if he did manage to pick up on it, one would find her tone...humorous? Almost like a robot trying to tell a joke, or something. Probably the lingering pain and weariness getting to her head.

d2akEes.png

A day had passed. Kah hadn't eaten anything. She was at least capable of walking now, but just barely. She wasn't in any state to exert herself, and her hunger wasn't helping that. Ari's remark from yesterday rang clearly in Kah's head. One whole Zebstrika...it sounded like a tasty light snack at this point in time. If she were capable of digesting wood, Kah would probably be able to eat the entirety of a tree right now.

"Ugggh this sucks! We need to find...erm, what is it Ari?"

Ari? He was standing with the rest of the group, just between Mac and Kah. But there apparently was another Ari? One who...

"Hey what are you doing Ari!?"

That couldn't be Ari. Stealing from whelps whilst impersonating other whelps, was it? If Kah got her hands on this pickpocket, death would not be the end of her punishment for the scum. Kah started darting off in the direction of the fake Ari, but didn't get very far before her weary legs gave in, bringing her down to her hands and knees to catch her breath. "Catch him," Kah angrily huffed. "And...pant...bring him back to me in one piece!"

While Nine's attempt at attacking the Xatu was clearly blocked, the resulting block hadn't done much of anything to him. She simply tossed his leg to the side, causing him to quickly try and turn himself. His feet landing back down, he slid a bit as he noticed that the other Xatus were already converging on his position. As the two seemed ready to strike at him, something interesting happened. Firstly, that the clones had dropped everything to try and strike at him, as opposed to doing anything with the Altaria. However, as the Altaria let out a beam of light, one he was quite familiar with himself, the Xatu immediately veered off course and used their body to block the beam of light, thus causing it to dissipate entirely. His eyes quickly darted from where the Xatu clone had been and where the straight line would've continued to, had it not been interupted. Interesting.

Nine had come to realize something, and while it couldn't really be considered a weakness, it could be considered something that would at least make the fight more bearable. In order to get this to work, though, he was going to have to be at the top of his game. At this point, Nine knew that he wouldn't be able to rely on the tactic of using his opponent's strength against them. It was all about surprise when it came to fighting a foe much stronger than oneself, and since that surprise was already dealt with, he had to move onto something else. And so, relying no longer on his phsyical approach, Nine made sure that his flames would be at their peak in order to do what they needed to.  And so a familiar smirk appeared across his face, only seeming to be more mischevious than any he had on prior. As this happened, a quick pulse of darkness could be seen flowing through his body for a brief moment. Now all that was left was the execution of the attack.

As the Xatu clone sent out the air slash towards him once again, he noticed that it took flight immediately afterwards to presumably do some kind of melee with him. However, Nine couldn't be bothered to focus any more of his attention on these clones, and was looking to strike the main one. Which meant he had to avoid getting into an extended fight with this Xatu no matter what. Avoiding the Air Slash, though, would just get him set up for that to happen. So there was only one thing he could really rely on doing. Bracing his arms together Nine was ready to take on the wind head on, leaping backward as he did so. As such, when the air slash hit him and no support to keep himself steady, the force of the air sent him flying further back, creating a sizeable gap between both himself and the Xatu clone.

Looking up to the sky, he saw the Xatu splitting itself into more clones once again, and that the cloud dragon was already underway in trying to charge at it. When Nine went to move his arms to prep them, there was an incredible sensation of pain through them as he realized that they were horridly bruised and perhaps a bit raw. Still usable, yet almost definitely not able to take another head on strike like that again. So he had to make this count. With flames forming in both of his palms, he shot out two streams of fire at the real Xatu, aiming from a different angle to the Altaria's approach as not to hit her and with flames, aided by the sun and his earlier stunt, that had never been stronger than before.

"Hey what are you doing Ari!?" Mac called out. Kazo blinked as he looked at her. Ari was being a good kid, unlike... You know, SOME people. She then took off into the woods, off the path. Greeeeeeat. Kah attempted to chase them down, but barely made it two feet before stopping, exhausted.

"Catch him," Kah angrily huffed. "And...pant...bring him back to me in one piece!" Kazo shook his head. Yeah, he hadn't eaten for a day, but that didn't matter too much too him. He was far too used to that. When he went without food for a week would be when he started to worry. Still, did this mean he had to pretty much do everything around here.

Without saying a word, he chased after Mac. Seriously, just what the hell was going on? First, Edgelord attacked, then it felt like his heart was shattered, like a girl stole a girl he was interested in (something he was used to honestly, but it still hurt), and now this.

He needed a vacation.

Denku couldn't stop thinking about it. How he failed miserably back at the cave... How he deserved to die, but some cruel twist of fate kept him living. He had to make it back in time. He had to make sure Pride Rock knew not to trust...

Wait... Why would he warn them? ... They didn't care about that he would have to say. He was a stranger to these lands... He wasn't even some Flaming Priestess. He was, to them, a cheeky child that didn't know his apparent 'place'. He paused for a moment to look at the horizon. He could just leave... Move on with the little time he had left.

And then he would never forgive himself. He looked back to the towering rock. He had to make it as fast as he could. Thankfully, being out for a day meant he didn't use his internal pressure, so now he had a lot to use. He would probably drain it getting back though.

He started running, firing off the gass from both his hands and feet to help him speed up. He had to make it back in time. He just had to.

Coldharbour Team Showdown

Almost immediately as Scarlet touched her, Taiga jumped off of the bed; her red face slamming against the ground. "J-j-j-j-just hold your Horseas there C-C-C-Chrome Dome!  You can't just up and do that to me...sharks are pretty sensitive to touch...didn't you know." Taiga was clearly still flustered about her sudden approach. Scarlet couldn't help but let out a giggle. "And it's not like I wanted to rub against that cold skin of yours!  FUFUFUFU!" Before Scarlet could reply to the flustered shark, however, someone had popped out of the closet.

"Stop fiends! I know not what treachery you wanted to employ on me but it has failed! I know where you came from, you're pirates, here to steal our stuff!" The young frogadier that had emerged from the closet and ruined her fun was almost as red as Taiga, whom took no time to address the intruder. "Pirates ehhhhhhhhhhhh!?  If we were Pirates, what makes you think we'd stay in this crummy, Podunk, cold as dirt town instead of wrecking this place eh!?!?!? How dare you ruin the moo-eeeeeeeer, I mean hide in our room!  Didn't your parents ever tell you not to spy on two ladies while they're in private?! I don't wanna get kicked out of this place for causing a ruckus, but how else will a perv learn their place! You better not have messed up that pie either!  Old lady vibrava will kill me if that pastry gets popped!  If it's even got a scratch on it, I'm going to pop you too!" As Taiga continued to talk, Scarlet walked to the side of her and in front of the frog. How long was he in there, and how much had he seen? Regardless, she had to teach him a lesson, no matter how young he seemed. Almost as soon as Taiga was done talking, Scarlet slammed her claw on the wall open, the frogadiers throat inbetween the pincers. He stared right into his eyes and, despite the rage radiating out of her eyes, she spoke in a calm demeanor. "You better have a damn good reason as to why you were in our closet." She pushed her claws deeper into the wall; her blades were now barely scratching his throat. "Or I'll make sure this is your last night creeping into girl's closets." Of course, she had no real intention of decapitating the poor bastard; she even put in the effort to not slice his throat open when she first landed her strike, but he had no way of knowing. She smirked at the kid, expecting his answer.

Cabrakan had a feeling that the Snorunt would still follow him, and he was doing a rather poor job of it as well. Cabrakan could've made the boy even if they were a mile apart, quite frankly. So he stopped, and waited for the child to wander off before making another step.

However, he had to keep moving. Other people watched Cabrakan cautiously as he went about his search for Isole, and many kept their distance. The only people to approach him were various merchants trying to sell him things that he either considered useless or didn't have the money for. He was starting to get tired of telling people that he wasn't interested in their wares all the time, and all they were accomplishing was slowing him down. However...

"While you're all here," Cabrakan gestured for the merchants to shut themselves up for a moment before continuing, "There's someone I need to find. I came here with a female Rotom Gijinka, and we went in separate directions since we arrived. Have any of you seen where she went, by any chance?"

Something seemed to tell him not to be surprised if the merchants were uncooperative, though.

Beatrice shook her head as she heard Richard agree to Fjanna's request, and moved to give both of them a piece of her mind when all of a sudden, a Pyroar squeezed his way past her to inform the king of troubling news. She still had no idea how this native tongue worked, but Beatrice could tell this man was distressed.

"Bring James to me. Now!" something Beatrice did understand. She immediately got out of the way and more into the room as the Pyroar left again. Then James came in, discussing who'd be in the front lines to deal with the situation at hand. It was then that Beatrice finally realized what was going on. The Mightyena had begun to attack, and she had to stop them right here and now! She began to leave, and looked behind her just before she did, only to see that the ritual was still being set up despite the goings-on outside. Something wasn't right about this whole thing; Beatrice could tell.

"Young one, if you wish to observe, you have that right. As long as you don't disturb the ritual," with that, Richard left into the main chamber. But Beatrice opted not to follow; instead, she turned tail and walked outside, following the soldiers that were sent to combat the Mightyena from a distance. She did take some effort not to get herself made, but didn't really care if that was the case. The more important thing was that she was allowed to beat down these Mightyena before they caused trouble.

"Fia. Come with me. We must administer the test. The sage will not wait long. Do not fret, we will protect our land no matter the enemy."

Not looking to be seen as suspicious, Fia followed the king towards the chamber without showing much expression on her face despite what had happened earlier. The fact that the Mightyena had already attacked was bad enough, especially with the group now getting separated to each other like this, but James had to appear and act as if he did anything to stop the Mightyenas, and the king foolishly trusted him to pick his own men for the "defense" of the capital. Yeah sure, as if he'd actually defend it. Why is it too hard for Bea to notice that she's working on the wrong person? At least, with how emotion-driven she was, she had chosen to go to the frontlines apparently instead of following her and the King inside. In other times she would've been really worried about her child, but at this time what was important that she wouldn't try to kill her or the king for the time being, so that was one less thing to worry about.

Of course, there's the possibility that James would actually defeat the Mightyenas and used that moment to gain more support to himself, which would mean that the coup attempt would happen later instead of now, but for the most part, it was clear that the next few hours would be really vital for her and the king. She would not be in any position to retaliate to any form of attacks while she's in the chamber, and the king, powerful as he was, would still be prone to attacks he couldn't see. So Fia, deep in her worries, decided to silently used her String Shot to create piles and piles of barely visible mounds as she intentionally walked quite slowly during her entrance to the main chamber.

"This is the shaman, Rafiq, and his apprentice. He has no name, nor will he respond to one, but he is trustworthy. If you have any final questions, say them now, and then we can begin the test."

"Hoo hoo, this is the girl, eh?

My my she looks awfully...Unimpressive, hoo hoo! But we can't judge by covers, can we? She has fire but how hot does it burn, hmm? I wonder."

"I have no questions before the ritual is started, as I believe that you would guide me on the steps in taking the test." It wasn't said out of pride or assurance that she had known or would get the knowledge on everything she needed about the ritual, but Fia was already thinking about way too much thing to worry about something else like forming a question to ask. Right now, she really wished that the flames would consume her already so she could be done with it. The warm embrace of such flames was something that Fia believe could clear her mind enough to figure out something regarding her current predicament.

But, was she really ready? With doubts eating her mind like caterpillars eating leaf, the toxic seeds of worry sprouted inside of her heart. Fia was aware that any spec of that feeling could kill her during the ritual, but without much else for her, she simply looked at the king and the Ambipom shaman, with the expression of determination to show them that she was really ready.

Brooke sighed in relief, leaning forward against the counter and propping her head up with her fist. After everything yesterday, today been a nice change of pace. She had managed to sell a few potions to a Mightyena that had visited that morning, but she had given their daughter several lemonade for being so well-behaved (and adorable) for free, so she hadn’t turned a profit. Still, so far it had been a good day for Deku standards.

She yawned and stretched to wake up her muscles. She didn’t see any customers, and her stomach was rumbling in need of sustenance. A lunch break might not be a bad idea. “I could go for some more sushi…” She hadn’t had time to really enjoy it last time, and she owed Sam the business with everything that he had done to help them.

Brooke grabbed her coin purse and started out the door, thinking about the past day’s events. She hadn’t liked that she had to leave them alone to come to work, but Dora knew where the shop was if anything happened, and she’d been away from the business long enough. The two from yesterday had no real way of finding out where her home was, anyways; most would just direct them to her shop.

The the door swung shut behind her, and she was only a few steps out into the street when a voice rumbled across Deku.

"You dare accuse me, Thundurus, of CHEATING? Your pathetic town has served to entertain me but I will not have this insult!"

Heart pounding with a sense of irrational fear and worry, Brooke whipped around to try and find the Gijinka whose voice had just given half the city a heart attack. It wasn’t hard to find him. A bolt of lightning cracked down atop the Gambling Den, blowing the roof apart, and a figure lifted into the sky. She was stunned into immobility, shocked by the appearance of a legendary in Deku of all places. What did he want? Why was he mad? Regardless, he was going to bring the city to its knees if this kept up.

Brooke was violently torn from her reverie when a bolt of lightning struck her shop, the force bodily throwing her in the air and into a wall, leaving a smoldering black soot stain where her business had once been. Urgh...Struggling back to her feet, the Emboar’s head was spinning. Shop… Legendary… Lightning… Ruined…

Kids.

The mental fog cleared away in an instant. She had to get home, to make sure they were safe! There was no chance any house in Deku - even the sturdier ones, like her’s - would stand up to a storm like this. She bolted, more akin to an orange-and-black blur than a person, ignoring people’s confused shouts and cries of protest when she brushed them to the side.

She really didn’t have the time or patience to deal with the thieves trying to pickpocket her even now. They could have the Poke for all she cared. She had bigger concerns.

Day 10

While walking, Ari was busy staring at his friends, wondering how they would taste. Ugh...so hungry, he thought. He needed food, and fast. He wasn't used to not eating. And then a small steak ran off--oh wait that was Mac. "Hey what are you doing Ari!?" she shouted.

"Uhh...nothing. I totally wasn't imagining you as steak...wait where are you going?" the lion blinked, confused. Oh wait, there was another him. "Whoa, I didn't know I had a twin! Hi, my name's Ari, what's yours?"

Kah didn't seem as thrilled as he was. She started to run, only to stop, bent over. "Catch him. And...pant...bring him back to me in one piece!"

Kazo ran after the both of them, while Ari just stood there beside Kah. "Huh... Wait," he started to run too. "I never found out your naaaame!"

Day 8 cont.

First Entei, now this. Sure, it had been a few days, but Easter hadn't expected to meet another legend so soon. He had traveled the world for years without even catching a whiff of one, but now, he meets two within a week? Insane.

The past him would've jumped in right away, challenging the legendary to a battle. But now? After seeing Entei, one of the weakest of the legendaries, he had realized just how far the difference was between him and a legend. It had only been with Whisper's help that they had managed to take him down. In fact, Whisper had done the lion's share of the work.

So if he wanted to face Thundurus, he would have to be careful.

The fairy type stepped back, looking around. Normally, he'd try and find a better vantage point, but with his opponent's typing, that wouldn't be wise. No, it'd be better to stay in a secluded area and potshot him from there. Perhaps take advantage of the legend's temper. Hmm...but then he'd run out of hiding spots eventually. While his mind worked fast, he ended up being distracted by a somebody flying past him. Turning, he saw nothing but an orange blur. He blinked. Fast... Still, perhaps he should move too.

The Sylveon ended up taking shelter next to a house, focusing for a Moonblast. It was best to go all out with a legend, after all. Then he heard voices, the voices of children.

"Waaah, help me!"

He turned, seeing a small Weedle gijinka trembling in fear. Oh...yes, there are children here too, aren't there? He was about to approach the boy when a lightning bolt came down from the sky, charring the child to a crisp.

"Well..." Easter voiced. "That was...a thing." Despite his calm tone, his blue eyes were narrowed into slits. That child didn't even have a chance to live. Which reminded him, this legend was wreaking havoc around civilians. That wouldn't do. Nor would it do to let this continue. Still, if he fought the guy here, there would only be more casualties. Best thing to do would be to lure him away and then fight him. Except, hadn't he said something along the lines of the town itself? In that case, it'd be near impossible to draw him away. In that case, best thing to do would be to gather up the townsfolk and leave. Then he could fight him.

The Sylveon drew in a breath and started looking around. Those with sense had already started to run away, so all that were left were those without sense and those that couldn't flee, for whatever reason. Whether it be out of injury or fear. The latter category was what he was searching for.

He managed to rescue a Lillipup and a Pachirisu by the time a bolt of lightning almost struck his side. Pausing, he glanced at Thundurus, who hadn't seemed to have noticed him yet. But he will...by the time I'm through with him...he will.

Team Showdown, Coldharbour

It was bad enough when the sea serpent came up and started yelling but then the armored monster all but chopped his head off! He looked between the two, eyes bugging out, as his heart pounded. But he had to stay strong! He would not let their evil ways throw him off the path of justice! "I-I saw you come from that ship, T-they're pirates s-so are you, I don't know why they left you, or why you didn't...do anything...or...uh....I'm sure of it! You won't trick me!" He was shaking now, hands tight against the wall in an attempt not to just slump over.

As for Cabrakan, he would eventually get pointed in the right direction, though the merchant who told him kept insisting he buy something. It would be startlingly easy to gain access to Isole's room, and it seemed they weren't concerned with the girl's privacy with how readily they handed over the room number.

Cabrakan would find Isole leaning against the wall, unconscious, without much physical harm done to her body. Attempts to rouse her would prove to be fruitless, as she was quite out of it. However she was still breathing. She actually seemed weirdly peaceful, especially relative to her normal expression.

And in the darkening night, a Froslass slinked out of the city, without notice...

Team Karaoke, vs Xatu Godslayer

The clones had finished forming as Nine's Flamethrower attack was sent towards the Xatu, striking them with the powerful fire attack. As soon as it landed, the two clones raced towards Nine, intent on retaliating. The other clone that had been leftover followed suit, and three clones made their way towards Nine.

"...Now." Gwen thought, as she struggled to her feet. She had noticed something about the Xatu, and it was time to put it to the test. She couldn't focus enough to assault them with her Hex however...Gwen swiped her hands across the air and launched a barrage of leaf-shaped projectiles at the original Xatu, slamming into them with minimal damage.

However the Xatu clones that had been going towards Nine suddenly stopped their course as soon as her attack landed on the original. Suddenly they were heading for Gwen, all three of them launching their attacks at her already battered body. "C'mon Alleria..." Gwen said, hardly able to stay upright.

The Godslayer watched as Alleria approached, with a strangely amused, yet passive, smile on their face. The Altaria's attack was wild, powerful, but Xatu wasn't worried. They met Alleria head on, moving to avoid the first swing, and retaliating with a simple palm to the chest, pushing Alleria back. Though the Outrage continued, Xatu kept making small, simple, moves to dodge out of the way and counterattack with the most basic of melee strikes. It wasn't much but it was clear the Xatu was still quite strong even with such an attack, and several blows landed upon Alleria before a single of Alleria's managed to hit Xatu.

Eyes flashing the Xatu disengaged with Alleria, flying backwards, towards the edge of the barrier. They didn't say a word, but it was clear they meant to take this even more seriously. With aggressive chops, the Xatu sent several Air Slashes, one after the other, in a rhythmic pattern, towards Alleria.

Team Mac, Forest of Southshore

Mac's blood was pumping. She didn't know why Ari had taken her pack or why he was running without saying a word, but it certainly got her adrenaline going. She couldn't help but smile as she leaped over stumps, ducked under tree branches, and in a couple cases dived through some brush, to keep up with the little lion. Her hunger was all but forgotten as she got more and more into the chase, almost not caring why she started this in the first place.

The chase went on for over an hour, though she left a very obvious path behind her if anyone were to follow, and she only stopped when she broke past some trees to find...a village.

It was a small village, with grass roofed houses, and easily less than fifty people milling about.

However the people all had quite the...unusual trait in common.

As in they all looked like Ari. There were some small differences between them but every single person in this village looked extremely close to Ari. "What...what is going on here?" She said, slowly wandering into the village, where all the Ari were just going about their business as usual.

Team Neo Not Dark, Deku

"Sounds like a storm," Fawkes commented. "A big one. Deku's...not really well-prepared for that kind of thing. Everything is poorly-built so even if we're lucky and the house isn't destroyed by lightning, we'll be lucky to get out of this with our roof intact. Then there's the really real problem with water damage since the roof will leak all over the place and if it's too windy the house might just get blown apart and we'll have nowhere to run and..."

Dora tilted her head. She rolled over to Fawkes and slowly made her way to her feet, before resting her head on the Zorua's shoulder. "There there. There there." She said, using the words and, albeit a higher pitched version, tone as her mother used to use on her. "It's fine, it's fine, Brooke's house is good with storms. She's a fire type, she doesn't wanna get wet ya know. C'mon let's go get her though, if you're worried, she can help." Dora started towards the door, paused with one foot raised, turned, and wandered in a different direction. She ruffled around some things for a moment before coming out with a pair of raincoats in her mouth "Hir tack dis" she said, tossing one of the coats onto Fawkes's head, before struggling into her own. Though the sleeves were left off, and flapped about as Dora ran out into the street.

As she did, Thundurus was moving in a strange pattern in the sky, which seemed to summon a torrent of rain to crash upon the city. He kept up his path of destruction, flinging Thunders haphazardly. He couldn't have known, though he likely wouldn't care, that he was making his way straight for Brooke's house. Or that his most recent Thunder crashed mere feet from a small Wooper Gijinka who was spinning and frolicking in the rain.

Team Sexual Tension, Pride Rock

The group of warriors from Pride Rock, led by Jabari, spread across the land in two rows of ten, moving fast, but carefully, through the brush and over the hills, to their destination. They knew generally where the cave was and had decided to make a line straight for it, expecting to encounter the Mightyena soon enough. And, as was expected, they met up with them a mere hour after heading out, as night began to fall. Jabari let out a battle cry and ordered the soldiers forward, and they met with the Mightyena with a resounding crash of bodies. Fire roared, Electricity crashed, teeth and claw tore into flesh. It was a messy, and brutal, battle, with both sides seeming to be strong and ready to fight to the last to win. Despite being outnumbered, the Mightyena seemed to be determined to win, some with particular Moxie that made them threats to even the strong warriors of Pride Rock. Jabari waited near the edge of the battle, observing, waiting for the right moment to engage.

Meanwhile in the main chamber of Pride Rock, Fia was being led to the fire. Rafiq wordlessly, solemnly, through some bones into the fire. It suddenly surged higher, turning a pure golden color, and crackling with a strange energy. "Step into the flames. And meet your fate." Rafiq said, ushering Fia into the middle of the great fire.

As she stepped inside, sudden and unrelenting pain shot through her. She had never experienced fire such as this before and she could feel it lapping at her Aura itself, searing her soul and body as one. This would last for an entire hour, if she lasted that long, until the pain started to fade into something else. Something almost loving, a tender embrace. She could hear voices, inside her head, or outside the fire, she couldn't tell.

"Who are you?"

                                        "What is your quest?"

            "Why are you here?"

                                                                        "Why are you here"

                                                              "What do you want?"

                                                                                                                    "What do you love?"

                                "What IS love?"

     "Who am I?"

"There there. There there."

Dora placed her head down on Fawkes's shoulder, and spoke in a soft, reassuring tone. The effect worked, even if only a little. Fawkes was still shaking, but she didn't look completely helpless anymore. Just as Fawkes was about to suggest that she and Dora find some sort of shelter to hide in, Dora spoke again.

"It's fine, it's fine, Brooke's house is good with storms. She's a fire type, she doesn't wanna get wet ya know. C'mon let's go get her though, if you're worried, she can help."

Right, Brooke was out there too! Knowing what little Fawkes knew of Brooke since meeting her only yesterday, she probably wasn't afraid of this storm or the source of it all, but that didn't mean she wasn't in danger! They had to go find her, and get out of Deku while they still could! But the thought of going outside in this storm terrified young Fawkes. As another flash of lightning destroying a building somewhere sharply illuminated the room, something caught Fawkes's attention out the corner of her eye. A comic book, left on the couch. On the cover was a Hitmonchan man who didn't really look that impressive, being stared down by a gargantuan beast. Fawkes recognized that cover. It was the first edition of her favorite series, One-Punch 'Mon.

Perhaps her brain had short-circuited from the fear. Maybe it was the knowledge that Brooke of all people could be in serious danger. Whatever it was, Fawkes stopped and thought.

What would One-Punch 'Mon do? He'd go out there and save people, right? He wouldn't just sit here, afraid...I'm really bad at this. If he saw me he'd be ashamed of how bad I'd be as a hero...

"Hir tack dis." Fawkes was cut off by the sound of Dora's voice, and her view suddenly being obscured by a shiny sheet of yellow. Pulling the sheet off her head, Fawkes discovered she hadn't been given a sheet at all, but a raincoat. She struggled a bit with a raincoat of her own, but Dora managed to get it on without even needing her arms. And then, she was out the door. Meanwhile, Fawkes was picking up another very loud noise. She recognized it well enough, as a Deku native. It  was the sound of torrential rainfall crashing against the roofs and streets of the city. Dora had said Brooke didn't like getting wet, not to mention she was probably the person in town most capable of protecting Fawkes and Dora.

As Fawkes pulled the raincoat over her arms and ran the zipper up, her mind was occupied by a new thought. If she didn't know better, she'd swear she was having a stroke. Dora went out into an awful storm like that so casually, like it was nothing, and here Fawkes was shaking in her boots. But sitting here wouldn't do anything.

I've gotta try. Mach-Punch Man tried, the White Fury tried. Just pretend I'm them. I'm the White Fury...I'm the White Fury...I can do this!

Fawkes pulled the hood of her raincoat up to keep her head dry, and ran out the door behind Dora, shutting it tightly behind her to keep water from getting in (it probably would anyway, knowing Deku buildings). Into the storm, and grateful for the layer of waterproof raincoat between her and the crashing rainfall. A bolt of thunder crashed down mere feet from Dora; Fawkes flinched just thinking about how that would have ended up. She wanted to turn tail and go hide under the bed, but instead began repeating the phrase in her head even louder.

What would the White Fury do? Uhh, ummm...

Fawkes ran and scooped Dora up off her feet again, with a "Sorry! We'll play once we're safe, okay?" Then there was still the problem of Fawkes having no clue where to find Brooke. She stopped running, stuck like a deer in the headlights. Which way to go? Where would Brooke be? Was any building in Deku a suitable shelter? There were too many questions flooding Fawkes's head at once, and the sounds of thunder furiously crashing down and destroying Deku or the rain violently crashing down into her raincoat weren't helping.

"Huh... Wait. I never found out your naaaame!"

And with that, Ari ran off as well. Great. Well, no use in lying around helplessly. What would other dragons say if they saw her like this? As soon as Kah caught her breath, she got up to her feet and made off in the same direction as the others, slowly so as to not fall over again. It wasn't hard to tell where everyone else had already been through. She could pick up their scent, like hunting after a runaway meal. Mac's reckless crashing through everything also helped. The path ever-so-not-delicately-at-all set out for her led her to a small village. The population consisted of...Ari clones? More fake Aris. Wonderful.

"Well...now what?" Kah asked once she'd caught up with the group.

Each step Brooke took carried her deeper into the heart of the storm, and with it came the pounding rain. It felt like sharp pricks each time on struck her it was coming down so fast, leaving small red welts on her skin and chilling her to the bone.

She bit her lip and raised an arm to shield her eyes, but she was still forced to squint to see at all. It made getting an accurate handle on where she was in the city at that exact moment difficult. She could discern that the houses near her were homes, much like her own, so she had made it close to her neighborhood, but that was it. “Dora! Fawkes! Where are you?” Her voice was drowned out by the storm, and even if it hadn’t been, she couldn’t hear a thing but the crack of thunder and the roaring of rain.

It was thanks to a stroke of luck that she managed to get her bearings. A bolt of lightning hit the ground roughly ten feet away, bathing the area in light. Brooke remarked, in the back of her mind, that it was kind of beautiful… well as beautiful as something that had nearly killed her could be, but it allowed her to realize that she was only a street or two away from her house. She ducked her head and started to run again, letting her memory guide her. Now that it was obvious where she was, she could get nearly anywhere in the city; a life on the street had its perks, even if they were far and few between.

Within a few minutes, she turned onto her street. Her clothes were plastered to her head head, and her hair looked a lot like a Raticate family had made their nest in it, but she was there. Brooke saw her door open, and out walked a familiar armless figure in her raincoat. Her heart skipped a beat when she looked towards the sky, and even if it was only a millisecond in real time, it was almost as if the Emboar Gijinka could see the bolt of lightning arcing down for Dora in slowmotion.

Her world came came to a grinding halt, and for a single instance, she hated herself more strongly than she had felt any other emotion in her entire life. Worse than how abandoned she had felt when Sada had left without a word all those years ago, worse than how lonely she had felt before she had met Sada when she was a child on the street, a thousand times worse than even the anxiety she had felt when she had first taken Dora in. She failed to protect one of the only things she had left in this worthless place, and a sweet, innocent little girl was going to pay the price just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And then it missed. The surge of relief immediately overpowered the self-loathing that she had felt, and Brooke had the urge to smile and laugh. Dora didn’t even notice, and then Fawkes was there, snatching her up and carrying her out of harm’s way. She paused and Brooke could see the hesitation and fear in her. “Fawkes! Dora!” She sprinted up to them. “Hey kiddos, we need to get going. Fawkes, pass Dora to me, I’ll carry her,” she took the Water Gijinka into her arms, holding her a bit tightly, taking comfort in the fact that she was still alive and not a charred crisp.

“Thanks for keeping her safe,” she whispered to Fawkes under her breath. “We’ve gotta move fast. No time to explain, but this isn’t a normal storm. If you start falling behind, say something, okay? We need to get out of Deku as quick as possible.”

As if to add emphasis, another bolt of lightning struck the street, leaving a smoldering mess of a house. “Time to go!” Brooke started toward the fastest way to exit the city, doing her best to avoid being in the direct line of sight of the legendary wreaking havoc above them.

Day 10 continued

When Ari finally caught up to the others, he stopped short. "Whoooooa! A whole village full of twins! Awesome! I didn't know Mom and Dad had that many kids! Why didn't they tell me about it?"

Without even thinking, he ran up to one of them. "Hey, hey, what's your name? My name's Ari! Wait, can it be? Are you named Ari too? Wouldn't that be confusing though?" While saying so, he bounced on the balls of his feet excitedly, tail wagging like mad.

"Hey, hey Mac, look! Isn't this cool?" he waved at the Helioptile.

Day 8 continued

Easter continued in his task of saving as many children as possible. Unfortunately, he couldn't save them all. The Weedle boy was not the only person to turn into ash right before his eyes.

He stopped before a house before looking around. "Looks all clear," he muttered to himself. About to turn around and head for another district, he paused when the door slammed open, and a young Wooper gijinka danced into the street, seemingly oblivious to the chaos as she splashed in puddles.

And then a bolt of lightning came down right next to her. Easter's eyes narrowed, and he stepped forward to help her, ignoring the ringing in his sensitive ears. However, a young Zorua gijinka, who looked somewhat familiar, ran out as well, scooping the Wooper up while babbling, "Sorry! We'll play once we're safe, okay?"

Soon after, an Emboar gijinka rampaged through, shouting "Fawkes! Dora!" When she reached them, she muttered, "Hey kiddos, we need to get going. Fawkes, pass Dora to me, I’ll carry her."

Well, they looked like they'd be fine. Easter moved past the house, and just in time, because a bolt struck that too. He jumped, spooked, before continuing onward. He needed to get out of here before he got hurt. Soon after he thought that, another bolt ripped through the air, heading straight for the small black fox. Not good, he thought, firing off a Moonblast. It took a lot out of him to fire them at full power without charging them first, but if he waited for it to charge, Thundurus' attack would fry the poor gijinka. Instead, an oddly misshapen pink orb slammed straight into the bolt's path, knocking it off course.

"Phew," he muttered. "At least this one's still alive." He didn't stop to take in her reaction, instead running forward and picking her up. He wasn't the strongest of gijinka, but the kid looked light, plus with how close that bolt had been, they needed to get out of here, and fast. He wasn't a Jolteon like Rei, but he had longer legs than the kid, thus could move faster. "Where to?" he asked the Emboar beside him. If this person, presumably a native, knew of a safe haven, then that would be great. Though likelier than not, there wouldn't be one, and they would just head outside the city.

He gritted his teeth. He hated fleeing from this arrogant legend, but he would hate it even more if he let a child die under his watch. Just you wait, he thought. Once I'm done with this task, you'll regret ever showing your true face here.

As the two clones had finally finished forming, Nine's flamethrower struck the Xatu square on. As he did this, he realized that in order to test his theory of them, he had probably struck too early. In fact, this now lead him to a new conclusion, as the three Xatus clones were now converging on him, he realized that what he had thought was slightly off and he wasn't quite sure what to do here. He couldn't really take all three of their attacks dead on, since dealing with just one was already plenty enough and all three were probably just going to straight overwhelm him. As he braced himself for the onslaught, a swarm of multi colored, almost magical, leaves struck the original Xatu head on. This then caused the Xatu's to completely stop what they were doing and instead decide to charge straight at the Mismagius, who he slightly forgot was still there in all of the confusion of battle currently. His vision was then directed towards the Altaria from before, seeing that she was now getting into a somewhat one sided battle with them.

While Nine would've liked to strengthen his flames even more, by using the same kind of dark energy that had coated his body during the previous attack, he simply didn't have the time. No. Right now he was forced to make a decision about what to do. There was the Altaria who getting into a brawl with the Xatu, who he could just see if his flames again would be enough to bring them down and thus end the fight. Then there was the Mismagius, who, if the fight didn't end in that moment would very likely die. Given that Nine was confident he could win this fight, but not confident that he could do so in a way that brought all of the Xatus down in an instant, and so his choice was pretty clear.

There were three Xatus, there were three places he could expel from. The plan of attack was incredibly simple. Both of his hands started to go ablaze with flames as embers started to come from his mouth. As soon he got his aim proper, the houndoom tried his best to the Xatu clones with as much force as he could. Still strengthened by the beating sun and the quite nasty dark power up he had done earlier, Nine let loose his flames at the Xatus. Two from the hands and one from the mouth, the jets of flame found their way towards the god slaying bird clones, one for each, as fast as they possibly could.

“Fawkes! Dora!”

Brooke! Never in her life had Fawkes been so relieved to hear somebody call out her name.

“Hey kiddos, we need to get going. Fawkes, pass Dora to me, I’ll carry her.”

Brooke took Dora from Fawkes's arms, and into her own. She was soaked. Fawkes hoped that Brooke would be okay. She looked awful yesterday after dealing with those thugs, and getting soaked as a fire-type the day after didn't sound healthy.

“We’ve gotta move fast. No time to explain, but this isn’t a normal storm. If you start falling behind, say something, okay? We need to get out of Deku as quick as possible.”

Now there was something she could agree with. Fawkes wasn't happy about coming back here to begin with, and being told that she had to leave as fast as possible was a welcome order. Getting to escape this freak storm was also nice, since it meant there was no chance of getting struck by a blast of lightning and dying. This wasn't how she wanted to go, and when yet another lightning bolt struck and obliterated a nearby house and Brooke said it was time to go, she was all too happy to obliged. However, just as she took her first few steps, yet another explosive flash of lightning filled the sky, and the booming thunder smashed into her eardrums again. There was something else to it too, however. An odd light, above her...

Glancing upwards and putting her arm above her face to shield it from the rain, Fawkes saw a massive lightning bolt and something in the way, deflecting it. Everything clicked. That could've been me... Fawkes was frozen in fear for her life. If whatever that was hadn't deflected the lightning, Fawkes would just be a smoldering corpse on the side of a soaked dirt road. Somebody then ran through, scooping Fawkes up off her feet and running after Brooke. They were faster than her, just a little bit, and her legs had all but stopped working after the realization that her life was in serious danger here. She'd be a sitting duck without this person's help. She didn't even care if...her(?) face looked familiar right now. She didn't care that she was being hauled away by a stranger. All that mattered was that this person just saved her life. Fawkes should've been dead. She'd never get to see Dora or Brooke again, she'd never meet Wes or Sid in the future, and she certainly wouldn't get to meet the White Fury in person. And yet, here she was.

"Thank you..." Fawkes choked out of her throat. She wasn't sure if it was rain hitting her face or tears rolling down her cheeks, and she didn't care. Burying her face into the stranger's shoulder, Fawkes repeated "Thank you!"

It was unexpected.

It felt completely and utterly annoying.

Falling down after the dumb bird completely schooled her, Celia watched as the rain of Air Slashes came towards her direction. Though...perhaps she was really the dumb bird all along. Why else would she be victim to the same trick again? She went in with brute force, only to be schooled with controlled and precise movements. But, at the same time, she noticed that several leaves managed to hit the main Xatu. She also noticed that the clones immediately shifted their attention to attack the source of the attack, Gwen.

"Ah...so that is how it is."

Sharp pain invaded her head. At least she was still lucid enough to think, especially with the pain that immediately rushed all over her as the barrage of Air Slashes hit her. While she managed to dodge some in time, the rest managed to hit her squarely. Blood dripped from her limbs, the pain here was no longer enjoyable. It was merely a necessary thing to keep her awake now. Stopping her fall, Alleria chose to use another round of Dragon Dance as she burnt the fresh wound she received with Dragon Breath to close them. She needed to think for a bit on what she would do next, and not to mention, she had to wait for the new weather to hit.

She could see the Houndoom took care of the Xatus that was assaulting Gwen. She had no idea on how long any of them would be able to stay up at this rate. She knew, nay, forced to admit to herself that she was not capable of lasting too long at the rate things are going, but...

Right, the most important thing here would be to bring down the Godslayer. Pride be damned, Celia was annoyed enough that the Xatu was still standing around smugly like that. For this she had to suffer, suffer as much as it could possibly get.

With the newly gained speed, Celia disappeared from sight  The clouds had gathered once more in the sky. With the cooldown for the weather done, she would be able to regain her ability to manipulate it once more. Losing the boost to the Houndoom's attack was not something ideal, but with this, she could regain her capability of combating the Xatu. The wind regained its speed. The storm would soon return into the barrier. Celia was still nowhere to be seen, it was as if she disappeared into the wind. While of course it was not the case, but her doubled speed due to her dances and the tailwind supporting her allowed her to blitz around the battlefield temporarily while making it hard for Xatu to track her movement.

"...Take this you bastard!"

Suddenly, from one direction a corpse was thrown towards Xatu's direction, and not long afterwards, Celia appeared near her, swinging another corpse towards her while banking on all her strength on it, boosted with the dances earlier.

"And take this too!

Hurricane!"

With the declaration, Celia disappeared as soon as she finished swinging and throwing the corpse she was holding, and she was then promptly replaced by a hurricane threatening to force the Xatu to crash to the ground. Celia soon reappeared on the ground, clearly fatigued and with the buffs from her dances slowly disappearing, but with a smile on her face.

If this didn't work, then she still had another plan in her mind on how to deal with the Xatu. Risky as it would be, the last plan would be her ace in the hole. She might not be able to deal the finishing blow, but with the Houndoom, at this rate she could possibly gain victory here. Just...perhaps she needed to mention the plan to him first.

"Step into the flames. And meet your fate."

The sage led Fia towards a burning furnace, and ordered her to step inside the fire. Looking at the fire, the resolve Fia had tried to keep up before suddenly went up and disappeared. For the first time in forever, a feeling of doubt awakened inside of her. But...why? She thought to herself. She had prepared herself for a long time already, and she had even discarded everything on her aside from a ceremonial robe that was the only thing covering her now. She was not bound to the material side of this world anymore, so why was she hesitant?

"...Right."

With the watchful eyes of the king, the sage, and his attendant on her, Fia realized that she was not in a position to delay her entrance to the fire, and she stepped in without wasting another second, despite the feeling of doubt still consuming her from within. It was not like she had any other choices on this anymore. Her children...they probably was only as well-received here due to the faith everyone put to her, and even with that, she still end up being incapable to protect them as much as she wished to. If she failed here...if she chickened out...then the future for the three of them would be bleak. She had lost one child...no way she would lose another.

"Urk...ugh..."

The flames started to dance around her skin. The pain of being burned, the intense heat started to torture Fia. Like a balloon that was forcefully pumped, Fia felt like she could explode at any minute. Perhaps it was clear now that she wasn't really suited to this. She was too filled with doubts, and...or perhaps it was just her not being fitting to carry this much responsibility on her shoulders. Perhaps this would be what fate was trying to tell her all the time. That she was not worthy. That she wasn't the one that could seek the ember that could light the future she seek. While her body was not burnt by the fire, the pain was very real, and it started to eat on her both physically and mentally. She realized that she could pass out at any moment, and no matter how hard she tried to stay up, she was fighting a losing battle. Darkness started to swallow her sight, and Fia, left with no other outcome, decided to accept the inevitable-

"Who are you?"

A tender embrace enveloped her physique. Was she dreaming? The voice awakened her, but she was unsure if that was real or not.

"Who are you?"

"...Fjanna...my na...my name is Fjanna."

Where was it from? Inside? It was as if the voice was talking directly to her heart. Half-delirious from the pain that consumed her, Fia simply answered its question with what came across her mind.

"What is your quest?"

"I..."

She wasn't able to finish her answer, and her consciousness started to fade again. At least, until when she heard another question from the voice.

"Why are you here?"

"I...wish...I want to..."

"Why are you here"

"I...wanted to seek out the Rainbow Phoenix...I...wanted...to seek out a new way...a new fate."

She regained more of her consciousness. The warmth that enveloped her, the loving embrace felt like it was from the mother she never had in her life. Fia silently wished that she could, for this once, enjoy this warmth even as she was still burning in the furnace. But the voice continued to ask her questions, and that returned her to reality.

"What do you love?"

"I...don't..."

"What IS love?"

"Uh...?"

Love...? Wasn't it the feeling one expresses to someone that they felt to be the most important person on their life? But...she never had that kind of person in her life so far. Romance was alien for her, perhaps she even actively avoided it. So far, she always distanced herself from everyone, as she felt she would be more fitting to observe instead of interact. So, was that the love that the voice was talking about?

Was she really that alien from that feeling? Was it really the kind of portrait her heart displayed? Someone that never loved others and never was she loved back by them. Was that who she really was?

"...I...no...no, I...I love them...my children...yes..."

Of course. Her children. The warmth she felt around her reminded her of who she was here for. Bea, Denku, even Albrecht who was out there somewhere. No matter how they viewed her, even if they ended up thinking that she was stupid, senile, or creepy, even if they hated her, even if they didn't view her as their mother, even if they weren't related by blood to her, even if they were older than her, she would always love them. To see them all smiling together, one day, that would be her wish. Even if she wouldn't be loved back, that would be fine.

Their smile, their happiness would be enough for her.

"I am...I am Fjanna Vaia Livrais."

The pain from the fire around her returned to her senses, but Fia decided to activate her own Embryonic Flame instead to burn her body fully instead of the flames on the furnace. Her eyes shone with the resolve she had just regained.

"My quest...I am here to seek where destiny would lead me...and I am also here to carve my own destiny that I chose on my own."

Neither the warmth nor the pain could be felt by her as her skin was consumed by her own flames, burning it into cinder slowly. Her senses was numb, her physique started to melt, but a smile formed on her face as she continued to reiterate her answer with a renewed determination.

"I am here as the path destiny gave to me led me here.

Yet...I am here...I chose to burn here so that I could create a future for me, and for my children."

Her flesh was now exposed to the fire. In some parts, her white bones started to even be visible. Her face was unrecognizable at this point with her eyeballs already melted due to her own flames, but Fia continued to talk as if nothing was happening to her.

"My children...all of them, they are the most important people for me. They're all that I have. They're the ones that I love.

This feeling...love...it's not something I'm familiar with, but, despite of me not knowing what it is, I know...I know that it's the reason why I'd be willing to do anything for the sake of the people that I loved."

Momentarily, as Fia stood there as a husk, she stopped talking. Was the proof of her determination was enough for her to survive, or whether the spec of doubt that she had when she entered the flames ended up being the one that ended her?

"Who am I?"

"...You are...you...are..."

From the husk, a soft voice came out after several moments of silence. Was it Fia? It lacked the sheer force from her previous answer. It was more like the sound like a lost child, looking for something. She couldn't feel pain anymore. The weight from her heart had been lifted. Yet, she realized a giant hole inside of her heart, and she frantically searched for something that could fill it as the warmth continued to surround her with its kindness.

"Mother...you are...mother...aah...

I...I don't want to be alone...

Please...stay with me...

Hug me...mother...don't leave me...Don't leave me again!"

As she slowly was reborn from her ashes as she continued to burn, the warmth that embraced her ended up making her be more and more incoherent as she whimpered, before she started to openly cried in the middle of bonfire, trying to grasp and hold a figure that wasn't there.

Team Sexual Tension
Pride Rock

The battle had already begun by the time Beatrice had arrived, and Jabari, the Zebstrika Gijinka that was watching the three suspiciously back at the feast that was held the day before, seemed to be leading the charge. True, he was titled as the Champion of the Zebstrika, but James had quite literally revered that as a stealth insult at the time. And now all of a sudden he chose Jabari of all people to lead this pack of brave soldiers? Something wasn't right about this whole thing.

But Beatrice couldn't afford to concern herself with logistics right now. She had Mightyena to kill, and she wanted them to die right where they stood. So she immediately moved in to attack, jumping right into the middle of the fray with her lances drawn.

"You die..." Beatrice stabbed one of the first Mightyena in front of her in the side, allowing plenty of time for the toxins housed inside the striking lance to enter his bloodstream before shoving him off to one side with a boot to the hip; and then she instantly eyed up her next victim.

"...and you die..." this time she used the other end of her second lance, which still ended in a nasty point, to penetrate the back of a Mightyena that was trying to block an attack from one of the soldiers he was facing, before finally managing to find the Mightyena that looked to be the leader of the pack.

"...and you most definitely die!" here, Beatrice fished out five needles that she still had on her person and threw them at the supposed leader.

Coldharbour

"I already got the only thing I'm interested in. Thank you," with that, Cabrakan left the merchant alone, following the directions he had given him until he found himself at an inn... and one different from the one that Taiga and Scarlet were staying in as well. Here, Cabrakan made his way to the lobby, and found himself speaking to a female Psyduck Gijinka, who had blue eyes and blonde hair, and wore a yellow dress and sun visor which seemed to be a part of the uniform in which all the receptionists all wore. It was safe to assume that this female Psyduck was one of the receptionists.

"Hi there, and welcome to our inn," she greeted in a formal manner, "How can I help you today?"

"Ah yes. I was travelling with a female Rotom Gijinka by the name of Isole," Cabrakan replied, "Is she staying here, by any chance?"

"Isole, huh? Can I ask how that's...?" the receptionist was running a finger down a clipboard that she happened to have on hand, and was about to ask Cabrakan how one would spell Isole's name before stopping, "Never mind that, I think I have it here. She's staying at Room 27, here's the key, and um..."

She haphazardly slid the key to Isole's room over the counter to where Cabrakan could reach it, before looking up at the Chandelure.

"Do you need directions to the room itself?" she asked.

"Er..." Cabrakan attempted to process how the receptionist could just hand over a key to the poor girl's room without even thinking of her privacy, but decided against bringing it up, fearing that he'd be wasting his time if he did, "Thank you for the offer, but I can manage,"

"Glad I could help," the receptionist smiled warmly as she said this, and as Cabrakan left, she addressed her next customer with the same amount of happiness.

...

'Well... she seemed nice enough, I'll give her that. Not all that bright, however,' Cabrakan thought as he looked through the hallways for Isole's room, which he found as he made a sudden right turn, and knocked on the door, "Are you there, Isole? We need to talk."

He was half-expecting an immediate response, before noticing a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door handle. He took it off for a second and examined it, and then looked straight at the door itself as he returned it to its original position. Then he got to thinking; in all these few seconds, Isole could've easily told Cabrakan to go away if her privacy was that important, or least told him to wait for however many minutes. But nothing came from her.

"Damn it," muttering this after a brief sigh, Cabrakan reluctantly fished for the key that the receptionist gave him, slipped it into its keyhole and turned it to unlock the door... only to see Isole lying on the bed in a suspicious manner the moment he opened it. This didn't look good. Rushing over to her and trying, but failing to wake her up, Cabrakan immediately checked for a pulse from Isole, and was thankful to find one. However, not wanting to leave her in such a vulnerable position, he picked her up in his arms, and made his way to the lobby in hopes that he could inform the staff of his dilemma. Isole needed medical attention, and right away as well.

Coldharbour Team Showdown

"I-I saw you come from that ship, T-they're pirates s-so are you, I don't know why they left you, or why you didn't...do anything...or...uh....I'm sure of it! You won't trick me!" The young frog was barely able to speak, his voice trembling. Yet, he managed to speak the way he did despite being inches away from death as far as he was concerned. Lease to say that Scarlet was impressed with the little ninja. "So you think that, just because we might be pirates, its ok to creep into our room?" She tightened the grip on the kid a bit more, before releasing the kid from the grip. "And if we were pirates, what did you hope to accomplish? Even if we weren't stronger than you, its still 2 against 1. You're in luck, though." She crouched down, lifting the frogs head with her claws. "Not only are we not pirates, but I like your style, kid." She winked at the frogadier when she said that last part. Letting go of his head, she walked next to Taiga. "Tell me, do you have history with those specific pirates, or do you just get visited by pirates often?" She had a hunch that, whatever this kids beef was with the S.S. Showdown, it probably had something to do with the Kyurem rod. She kept her eyes locked onto the kid - the second he tried to make an escape would be the second that she slammed him into the ground.

Taiga chuckled as the ninja like frog was so easily caught by Scarlet.  Not to say she wasn't fast, but she was definitely faster than this wanna be assassin.

"I-I saw you come from that ship, T-they're pirates s-so are you, I don't know why they left you, or why you didn't...do anything...or...uh....I'm sure of it! You won't trick me!"

The grinding of Taiga's teeth against each other became increasingly more audible.  As far as stereotyping went, this was pretty low on the list...but it still irritated her to be roped in with measly pirates.  She was no pirate!  She was a treasure hunter extraordinaire!  Being branded as anything less than that was a blow to her self esteem.  However, Scarlet scolded the boy on the fact of the matter before Taiga was able to rip into him.

"Tell me, do you have history with those specific pirates, or do you just get visited by pirates often?"

"I couldn't believe for a second that any pirate would look to here for goods...this place is so dry of treasure that my itemfinder hasn't picked up squat since we got here!"  The sharpedo crossed her arms and sat back down onto the bed.  Not long after, she stuck her hands up to the sky with her fists balled up, and shouted.  "We ain't pirates!  You got that you twerpadier!"

Team Neo Not Dark, Deku

"Oooh look at all the flashes!" Dora said in a sing-song voice, twirling and twirling. Then a flash appeared right next to her, dazing the girl and causing her to stumble in her twirling. She was once more picked up by Fawkes. "Is this our new game or something?" She asked as the small girl tried to carry the other small girl through the heavy rain.

And then there was ma-Brooke! "Hi Brooke!" She called out. "Big storm!" She started to giggle as she was picked up again, this time by Brooke. "I have become Dora, the Sack of Potatoes!" She seemed to find this funny as she started to laugh more.

Though her laughter stopped as Fawkes was almost struck with lightning. Dora's heart clenched tight for a moment, however a savior appeared and scooped Fawkes up. "Thanks pretty lady for saving my new sister!" Dora said to the woman. She glanced behind her, and noticed a large blue man who was getting closer and closer.

The house was suddenly lit up with another flash of Thunder. "Whoooaaaaaa. Hey, hey Brooke, that man seems angry, maybe he needs some cheering up!" She tried to head towards the man but remembered she was being carried. "Maybe not!"

The group managed to make it out of the city limits, along with several others. They watched on as Thundurus continued to slam Thunder after Thunder onto the city. Dora looked around and came to a realization. "Where are we gonna sleep tonight!?"

Team Karaoke, vs Xatu Godslayer

Gwen was certain of her demise, she couldn't avoid these attacks coming her way, but she had done what she could...And then the Xatu were struck by flames that knocked their attacks off course.

Gwen looked towards her savior, a rather handsome young Houndoom. She wanted to thank him, as was proper, but she couldn't. The Mismagius instead flashed him a kind smile before turning her attention to the Xatu.

She took the opportunity to lunge forward and touch each of them, inflicting her curse upon them. Two were stricken with a Paralysis, and the third was Burned.

However they took flight away from her, two of them much slower, and Gwen could soon see why.

The Godslayer hadn't expected to be struck by a dead body, though it was only a minor inconvenience. The second one, however? They felt the pain as a corpse slammed into their back and sent them spiraling out of control. The high winds forced them to make a rough landing. Their clones were on the way towards Alleria now, sending Air Slashes at the girl.

They had to flee this fight, they realized. Even if they beat these three they would not be able to fight the Legend like this. And so they covered their body in a reflect and light screen, before taking wing again and heading towards the other end of the barrier.

Team Showdown, Coldharbour

"Sorry sir but under our terms of agreement we do state any damage caused in our inn to a guest is not our problem. You'll have to take her elsewhere...plus are you sure she's not sleeping?"

Cabrakan would find no help there. If he were to check the small city he would discover that the only doctor they had was called up to Fryst a week ago and hadn't come back yet. However there were many, many merchants willing to sell him some medicine, for only a SLIGHTLY higher rate! What a steal!

"Tell me, do you have history with those specific pirates, or do you just get visited by pirates often?"

"I couldn't believe for a second that any pirate would look to here for goods...this place is so dry of treasure that my itemfinder hasn't picked up squat since we got here!"

"W-well...w-we do have one of the largest markets in Adarid...t-there's a lot to steal...I mean no, nothing at all, nothing to steal!" He was sweating nervously now, and seemed almost about to pass out from fear. "Well...if you're not pirates...why were you with them? T-they are! I-I remember, well, I was told, about a while back...They attacked a Fryst ship to steal something, something the lord REALLY REALLY wanted...Ever since then they had been sending less aid here and...Taking some of our people...It's all the pirates fault, they wouldn't have taken my dad away if the pirates didn't take the thing the lord wanted! I'm sure it would've worked out, whatever it was..."

Team Mac, Village of Ari

Mac looked around, starting to get a headache, whether from the lack of food or the situation she wasn't sure. "Okay...Ari? Ari where are you?" She called out.

In response each and every person in the vicinity called out. "I'm right here." Mac's eye twitched, and sparks started to appear on her arm. This was getting ridiculous.

"Hey, hey Mac, look! Isn't this cool?"

...Yeah that was definitely Ari. She strode towards the boy, while the other Ari were introducing themselves to her Ari, and Kah had arrived looking extremely confused as well. "Ari. Did you like...do something?" She shook her head. "Of course you didn't you probably know less than me." She turned to one of the other Ari and grabbed them by the shoulder...only to see them change into her.

Suddenly the village was instead full of Macs and Kahs. "You've got to be kidding me!" Mac shouted.

Team Sexual Tension, Fia, Inside Pride Rock

After every sentence Fia spoke she would feel the flames get more and more...loving. It was as though whoever she was talking to seemed to be either pleased, or concerned, or both, by her answers.

"Hug me...mother...don't leave me...Don't leave me again!"

The flames around Fia suddenly rose higher, and she saw a figure off in the distance, coming closer, closer....A figure that looked both familiar, and foreign, to the young girl. "You are troubled, child. As are many children." The woman wrapped her arms around the girl and pulled her close. Fia had never felt such warmth before in her life. "Finding one's destiny is a noble pursuit, but I wonder...Do you not have any hopes for your own future? These children you speak of, do you truly believe you are leading them down the right path? Or are you only pushing them towards what you want of them? What will you do if these children defy you? Answer me, my child, time is growing short. Even as I rest, I feel the world is changing. The world may die soon. And with the death it is heading towards there will be no rebirth. What will you do?"

Bea's first attack wounded the Mightyena greatly, putting him in a position that would leave him weakened and unlikely to survive much longer. The second Mightyena fared better but was finished off with a Flamethrower from the Pyroar that they had been about to attack.

As her needles headed towards the leader of the pack, he quickly disappeared, Digging under ground. As soon as he did Bea would find herself beset by two other Mightyena, one that she had injured, both going in for a Bite, from her left and right.

The battle raged around them, and it seemed like the Pyroar and Luxray had the upper hand. For now.

With the three flamethrowers finding their marks rather handily, Nine looked to see that he had succeeding in staving off the attacks of the Xatu clones that were attacking the Mismagius. Of course, his flames weren't strong enough to bring down one of them, let alone all three, but the original goal of saving the girl had succeeded. As she flashed him a smile, Nine only responded by giving one back before turning his attention immediately to the Xatu clones, charging at the Altaria. While Nine intuitively figured out that it meant that the Xatu was attacked, he didn't quite imagine the scale of the attack that was going on. Feeling the wind whip about, and seeing the harsh sunlight fade, Nine could only be a bit impressed as he saw that the Xatu was forced to the ground by the Altaria's attacks.

Seeing the grounded Xatu, Nine realized that now was his best chance to take them out and end the fight. However, there were still the three clones charging after the Altaria, which put him in pretty much the same predicament as last time. However, this instance was different. He was certain that the Altaria still had the strength to hold her own, and if she didn't then that would've just made knocking her out for the legend of willpower all the easier. However, even if they didn't, the clones would definitely lose their form if the original was taken down. And while he wasn't confident that he could bring the Xatu down last time, with how much damage they had just got hit by, even the mighty Godslayer had to be pushing their limits now. Realizing that this was pretty much a win win for Nine, a smirk formed on his face once again as he came to the conclusion of how he'd execute this nasty plot of his.

With a quick pulse of darkness flowing through him once again, stronger looking than the one that had improved his flamethrower last time, Nine got ready to let this loose. He wasn't sure how close they were to death's door, if at all, but he did know one thing. While the God Slayer would be a font of wisdom in his regards to the legends, they were also terrifyingly strong. A power like could not be allowed to roam around the world, nor should one hold anything back when dealing with them. And so, Nine reached into his pocket, crushing the red gem of fire that was there. Nine wasn't sure what lead to them to wanting to kill the legends, but he was sure that they were almost definitely a threat to the world itself. And so, with his flames, Nine would see it to that the threat was burned clean off the planet. Charging both of his hands with a flamethrower, he went to attack the Xatu. Letting loose a stream of flames that was by far faster, stronger and hotter than any other flame he had used before in this fight, Nine tried to take out the godslayer before it could escape from the battle.
