Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand or Graveyard) by banishing 3 EARTH monsters from your hand and/or Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Rock-Type monsters you control cannot be destroyed, except by battle. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add up to 3 Rock-Type monsters from your Deck to your hand whose total Levels equal 8. You can only use this effect of "Block Dragon" once per turn.

Never thought I'd see this kind of wording. So it even stops destruction by maintenance costs like Koa'ki Meiru's.

This in tramids seems neat, I suppose. Though the banish costs are starting to pile up.

Yep, looks like I'll be making room for this, Catapult Zone, Release from Stone, Gaia Plate, and maybe 1 Revival Golem in my Koa'ki Meiru Rock Stun. Granting them immunity to their own maintenance cost is hilarious!

Argh, the deck is starting to get super-crowded.

EDIT: And a Burial from the Different Dimension.
Also, it says "up to 3", meaning it can search up two koa'ki Meiru rocks, or another copy of itself.

Wait a minute, its Special Summon condition can also be done FROM THE GRAVEYARD! What in the world is Konami smoking?

Never thought I'd see this kind of wording. So it even stops destruction by maintenance costs like Koa'ki Meiru's.

 

I don't think that works. Imperial Custom doesn't prevent Continuous Traps from self-destructing due to a maintenance cost, so this shouldn't, either.

That type of logic is unfounded when you could easy search up the actual interaction from some reputable sources; namely, the official rulebook or (shockingly) the YGO Wikia. The official rulebook does not appear to have this information, so I'll just quote off the Wikia.

Also, cards such as "Card Guard" and "Field Barrier" cannot protect these cards from destroying themselves due to not paying their maintenance cost."

 

Koak'i Meiru monsters cannot be protected from their maintenance effects for whatever reason, and they cannot be negated. Use actual evidence like that instead of "but this card does this, so that makes no sense" type of logic.

This is different from the wording of Diamond Core and Block Dragon, which say "x cannot be destroyed". Also, Card Guard is an entirely different matter altogether considering the nature of its effect.

The 1st effect is literally Redox' Summoning effect, but with 1 more EARTH as the requirement; Neat.

Protection effect is neat, despite obvious weaknesses.

The search effect has incredible potential, mainly because it can also search itself/fodder/etc.

Honestly, I could have a field day with this card, given the fact that it has a lot going for it.

instant 1 staple in rock heavy variants of koa'ki mieru. i know little of tiramid, but i doubt that they would shrug off free protection and searching.

 

on another note, is "block" going to become a full archetype soon? this card seems like it could be a decent boss in a block only deck.

Play Brilliant Fusion -> Send Lapis and 2 Garnets to make Lady Brilliant.

(Field: Lady Briliant. Graveyard: Lapis, 2x Garnet)

 

Lapis recovers Garnet.

Summon Gem Armadillo -> Search Obsidian

Gem Fusion -> Obsidian and Garnet becomes Zirc -> Obsidian revives Garnet

(Field: Lady Briliant, Zirc, Garnet, Armadillo. Graveyard: Lapis, Obsidian, Garnet)

 

Tribute Lady to Summon 2nd Zirc

Overlay both Zirc to make, I don't know, Felgrand -> Detach the Zirc that was Fusion'd make Felgrand immune to everything.

Armadillo and Garnet makes Emeral -> Detach Garnet to revive the detached Zirc

(Field: Felgrand, Zirc, Emeral. Graveyard: Lapis, Obsidian, 2x Garnet, Lady Briliant)

 

Banish Lapis, Obsdiain, and Brilliant, to Summon Block Dragon

(Field: Felgrand, Zirc, Emeral, Block Dragon. Graveyard: Garnet)

 

Banish Garnet to recover Gem-Fusion.

Gem Fusion -> Block Dragon + Zirc -> Make 3rd Zirc

(Field: Felgrand, 2x Zirc, Emeral. Graveyard: Garnet)

 

Dragon searches Lapis, Obsidian, and 3rd Garnet

Banish Garnet from Graveyard to recover Fusion

Both Zircs become 2nd Felgrand -> Detach a Zirc to make Felgrand immune to everything

(Field: 2x Felgrand, Emeral. Graveyard: Zirc)

 

Fusion Lapis/Obsidian/Garnet to make Master Diamond

Banish your Fusion Materials to revive Block Dragon

(Field: 2x Felgrand, Master Diamond, Emeral, Block Dragon. Graveyard: Lapis/Obsidian/Garnet)
