Just noting this now, but this can only deflect if only 1 card would be destroyed.  Probably won't matter most of the time, but yeah.

Aside from that, generic link 2 means Number 42 memes can really start to take off now.  Kinda wish it had more than 1400 ATK tho.

Nice enough, now we have a Link 2 and 3 that require just monsters, the moment we get a Link 1 that does that, most Decks should be able to play pretty well. This one's decent enough, has quite low ATK, but it can't be easily destroyed, so that's not a problem if you want to keep it around, and you probably are going to ladder with this most of the time for Decode Talker.

While I imagine this is true in the case of say, Twin Twisters, for mass monster destruction cards like Raigeki that would destroy this card's linked monsters simultaneously, this shouldn't work as you can't "destroy a card instead" that would be destroyed.

When all "Six Samurai" monsters (and "Great Shogun Shien") would be destroyed simultaneously by "Torrential Tribute"/"Dark Hole"/etc, you cannot use the substitution effect to destroy another "Six Samurai" monster.[1]

However, for something like Mirror Force - if you have four Attack Position monsters but one monster in this card's linked Zone is in Defense Position, you can prevent the destruction of the four by instead destroying the one that wouldn't be destroyed by Mirror Force.

This is the wikia's card text, so we can put this to rest:

Link 2 - monsters - 2

If a card(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy 1 monster linked to this card instead.

My entire point is that it matters not whether you use the OP's or the wiki's text.

We know how the card works. There is nothing to put to rest about that.

So if it's in the ED slot, the linked monster would be the one in the other ED slot (if any) ? If so, that's pretty interesting.

Nope, you cannot directly link Extra Monster Zones with each other. Placing this on the Extra Monster Zone wouldn't generate any linked zones.

Well, in this case, it seems to me this card is pretty crappy.

Thanks for the piece of info.

wait, why is this card crappy? Even if it didn't have an effect, it'd still be a generic side-to-side Link 2. As it is, it does have an effect, and one with some amount of utility. I can't tell right now how useful it's gonna be, but you sure as hell can use it.

You are welcome.

But yeah, to be fair, requiring generic materials is a great trait, and the effect is decent, too. It may not be ideal to be dropped on the Extra Monster Zone, but it should put great work in the Main Monster Zones.

Not quite yet. Maximum overmemeing will begin when we get a Link 1/2 that can use 42 or 42 and 1 of its tokens.

Dang it. I make only two points and both were dead wrong. (´・_・`)

I guess the only thing about this card that I don't like is that it protects by ditching its links, but it's links are what this card's aiming for (in terms of bringing out more Extra Deck monsters). Basically, it's not super easy to get full utility out of this thing unless you use a ton of practical ED floaters.
