Give me Tokumatsu's loot now!

I mean most of the cards you can see on-screen (except Uni-Zombie) come in holo

[spoiler=Tokumatsu's known loot]

Baxia

Yazi

Chaofeng

Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit

Masked Chameleon

Miraculous Descent

Powered Inzektron

Barkion

Gae Bulg

Vajrayana

Nobleman of Crossout

Cockadoodledo

Angel of Zera

Plaguespreader Zombie

Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth

[spoiler=Thoughts on 60 RAW]

- Serena tells Yuya that Tsukikage took Reira

- One of the guards was seen playing Yugioh's answer to Mario Kart on his handheld

- Serena is sent to the women's quarters, though we knew this already

- Dennis says that Shun has his own cell

- I can see why the preview from the last episode said that "your cards are second to your life" as they're pretty much used as currency to have a somewhat better time in the facility.

 - We know that Gongenzaka and Dennis gave up some of their cards which was why they got more food than Yuya, Crow, Webber and Sawatari. (If you pause it at the right time, you can see the cards that Dennis tossed to the guards in a flashabck: Negate Attack and Magical Stone Excavation)

 - Yuya even noticed someone giving up a Dewloren for more food, and later 4 people giving up Light Gazer, Jurrac Meteor, Ancient Flamvell Deity and Windmill Genex to get out of what looks like a punishment for earlier.

- Some of the prisoners are bastards though, tripping Yuya up, tossing water on the other three's food

- Tokumatsu has assembled quite a collection of guards that the other prisoners gave up

 - And his deck is really weird, taking up so much effort to get one synchro out, I mean his deck does have bricking potential if you don't open with the right stuff.

[spoiler=Episode Thoughts]

Komaeda_%2818%29.png

A very interesting episode. Lots of neat little cameo cards did show up as well:

-Some of the prisoners were using Duel Terminal bosses (Dewloren/Genex Windmill/Ancient Flamevell Deity/etc.) to get better services.

-Tokumatsu has some other neat cameo cards as well, including some designs on the mat covers. Looks like Crane Crane, The Wicked Avatar, Naturia Cosmobeet are what I can recognize. His strategy though....I have no effing idea what he was doing. Even if I got a better understanding of what was going on, that was super convoluted just to get a burn punish monster for drawing.

-The Facility is filled with shitholes. I'd expect more depressed on deprived prisoners but, everyone there are total jerkbutts. Indeed, I can see the point of a personal deck's importance is to the user. But I I had to, I'd just give away super gimmick cards that only meets anime standards if I was in the facility.

-Yuya is once again challenged by another person who believes that dueling is not purely for fun. Though good for him for not pulling a stupid "egao" point.

[spoiler=Script 60]

Last time’s Egao Count: 60

Crow: Crap!

Serena: Unhand me! Unhand me!

Crow: Leave the kids alone!

Yuuya: Reira! REIRAAAAA!

(Opening Sequence)

SAWATARI-SAN: Unhand me! Do you know who I am?

Security: Shut up! Just get in there!

SAWATARI-SAN: Damn you! I’m gonna tell my Papa about this…

(Shinji and Crow got tossed directly into Sawatari’s face.)

SAWATARI-SAN: Damn it…

Security: You too, hurry up and get in there!

Yuuya: W-Wait!

What about Reira? Where is Reira!?

Security: Hey, what are you…!

Yuuya: Where is Reira? Reira!

Security: Just get back in there!

Kids: Crow!

Security: Stop! That’s as far as you’ll go!

Crow: Hey, you guys! Don’t worry!

Be sure to eat your food, alright!

Kids: Crow! Crow!

Frank: Damn it!

Amanda: Bring Crow back!

Tanner: Crow!

Yuuya: Hey! Are you listening to me!?

Please stop this car! I’m begging you!

Crow: Calm down, Yuuya.

Yuuya: But Reira…

We have to find Reira!

Serena: You don’t have to worry about Reira.

Yuuya: Huh?

Serena: Tsukikage was there.

He slipped in during the commotion, and spirited Reira away.

Yuuya: What?! Tsukikage was there?

Yuuya: Tsukikage…that guy…

Crow: Is he also from another dimension just like you guys?

Serena: Yeah. Akaba Reiji probably ordered Tsukikage to look for us…

At least, there’s no doubt that he ordered him to look for Reira.

Yuuya: I guess he managed to rescue Reira by a hair’s breadth, huh?

Crow: Then he’s safe for the time being.

That’s pretty great, no?

SAWATARI-SAN: There’s nothing great about this!

This is clearly a mistaken arrest!

When I tell my Papa about this, they’re all going to lose their jobs!

Do you hear me, you jackasses!?

Serena: Settle down, will you.

Crow: Sorry ‘bout this, Shinji.

Even though you’re only there to inform us…

Shinji: Well, the three kids got away scot-free, so that’s a relief, at least.

Crow: But my kids are probably going to have to steal their food again…

Shinji: Our friends will look after them.

Crow: Yeah…

Yuuya: By the way, just where are they taking us?

Shinji: When you’re put into a Security vehicle, it’s pretty obvious where they’re going to take you.

Jean-Michel: The five captives will arrive there soon.

Confine the girl that can use Fusion Summon to a special room.

When she has settled down, I will personally interrogate her.

Likewise, isolate the remaining four from the other prisoners and keep them under surveillance.

Some Security dude: Understood.

Jean-Michel: We have plenty of time.

We can interrogate them one by one, without rushing…

Blond Prison Guard: All right! I’m gonna win by a wide margin!

Black-haired Prison Guard: Hey! We’ve got order to isolate the five prisoners that’s just arrived from the other prisoners and keep them under surveillance!

Black-haired Prison Guard: Are you listening to me? The girl is going to a special room.

Blond Prison Guard: Alright.

Black-haired Prison Guard: Be sure to do your job!

Blond Prison Guard: Yeah, yeah. I got it.

Security: We’ve brought five new prisoners.

Female Prison Guard: Indeed.

SAWATARI-SAN: I’m a prisoner?

I’m SAWATARI SHINGO the magnificent! I’ll definitely get you…

Security: Yeah, and we don’t care about who you are.

Just stay quiet.

Female Prison Guard: You’re going to be isolated from the other four.

Follow me.

Yuuya: Eh?

Serena: I’ll be fine. Don’t make a big deal out of it.

Blond Prison Guard: Okay. The rest of you, come with me.

Blond Prison Guard: We’ll confiscate your Disks.

Starting Duels without permission is prohibited here.

You can keep this.

Crow: You’re not taking our decks?

Blond Prison Guard: Those decks are the most important thing next to life.

Be sure to cherish them, ‘kay.

Blond Prison Guard: Welcome, to the gathering place of social failures!

SAWATARI-SAN: I guess we’re not going to get a fluffy bed and three meals a day in this kind of place.

Crow: The people who are confined to this place, excluding some, are mostly dangerous or wrongly accused Commons.

Shinji: There are literally hundreds of people who are arrested due to false charges.

Yuuya: False charges?

Then aren’t we the same?

Shinji: Exactly. However, there are two groups of people in this place.

Yuuya: Two groups of people?

Shinji: Yeah. The people who have lifeless eyes, and the exact opposite of that group.

Blond Prison Guard: This community cell will be your new sweet home from now on.

Blond Prison Guard: Be sure to get along with your scummy friends.

Ehehehe!

Crow: Sweet home? Screw you…

Blond Prison Guard: Hmm? Community cell?

I swear they said something about…

Oh well, whatever.

Crow: All right then, what are we going to do now…

Red-suit: Oh. You’re new here?

Yuuya: Huh?

Red-suit: You didn’t even bother to greet us?

Yuuya: H-hello. Good day to you.

Green-suit: Hah? If you want to greet us…

Red-suit: You have to kneel down, touch your head against the ground, and say “Nice to meet you all!”

Yuuya: Why do we have to do something like that?

SAWATARI-SAN: If you want me to kneel down, you have to bring me a sofa.

Red-suit: What’s that?

Green-suit: You little…

GONGENZAKA: Enough of your indecent acts!

Yuuya: GONGENZAKA! Why are you here…

GONGENZAKA: Yuuya! You’re safe!

Yuuya: Hey! I can’t breathe…

GONGENZAKA: I thought that we’ll never see each other again!

Who would’ve thought that we’ll reunite in this place!

I, the manly Gongen…Gongen…

Crow: What the? Who is this huggy guy?

Dennis: Ah, geez,

Gon-chan, you’re being too over-the-top.

See, I told you we’re going to reunite with them sooner or later.

Hallo! Yuuya!

Yuuya: Dennis! You’re here, too?

Dennis: Well, I was dueling against Kurosaki in a Dark Duel Arena until they arrested me.

Yuuya: Kurosaki is here, too!?

Dennis: Yup. He’s perfectly fine. For the time being.

Yuuya: For the time being?

Dennis: On the day he entered the prison,

He got into a fight with 10 other prisoners and caused a ruckus,

So they gave him the solitary confinement treatment in a blink of an eye.

Red-suit: These guys are Big Bro Gon’s acquaintances?

GONGENZAKA: Yeah. This guy is Sakaki Yuuya. My best friend.

Red-suit: Eh?

GONGENZAKA: And this guy is Sawatari Shingo.

We’re not particularly close, though.

Red-suit: Big Bro Gon’s best friend and…

Green-suit: A mere acquaintance!?

Red & Green: We’re really sorry! We’re really sorry!

Yuuya: U-um…

You don’t have to go that far…

GONGENZAKA: By the way, Yuuya. What happened to Akaba Reiji and the others?

Yuuya: Reira is safe. He’s probably with Akaba Reiji right now.

And Yuzu…

GONGENZAKA: What!? You ran into Yuzu?

Yuuya: No, not yet.

But it seems like Yuzu is close by.

We have to get out of here as soon as we can and search for her!

SAWATARI-SAN: So you’re the boss here?

Couldn’t you do something about it?

GONGENZAKA: I’m not the boss.

Dennis: This prison does have a boss.

He’s been here for around ten years now.

Yuuya: Heh? That’s it?

Cafeteria Man: There’s not enough for everybody here.

Yuuya: Don’t play dumb!

There’s still plenty of food!

Prisoner 1: Hurry up and move it!

Prisoner 2: You’re in the way.

Prisoner 3: If you’re going to complain, then don’t eat!

Cafeteria Man: Come on, move it already.

SAWATARI-SAN: Hey.

Cafeteria Man: Hah?

SAWATARI-SAN: I am Sawatari Shingo.

I dare you to screw around with me.

If I tell my Papa, he’s gonna give you a punishment that you won’t ever forget.

SAWATARI-SAN: D-Damn it!

Shinji: So they’re giving all four of us the same treatment?

Crow: Enough mopping around. Let’s just eat.

SAWATARI-SAN: Unacceptable! This is preposterous, I tell you.

Yuuya: Is that a card?

Crow: Yuuya, what are you doing? Let’s go.

Yuuya: Y-yeah…

(Yuuya got tripped)

Crow: Yuuya!

Prisoner 1: Aaah! How unsightly!

You’ve got to watch your steps, pal!

Prisoner 2: Whoops!

(Splashes water onto Crow and co.’s food)

Prisoner 2: Sorry ‘bout that.

It’s because I tripped on this guy!

Prisoner 2: This bucket contains the water that we wrung out of the cloths we used to clean the toilets, by the way.

SAWATARI-SAN: You jabroni!

Crow: Picking on us like this…

Prison Guard: Hey, you there!

If you start a fight, we’ll send you to the solitary confinement room!

So shut it.

GONGENZAKA: Guys.

Don’t try to make a ruckus.

We’ll share our food with you guys.

Dennis: Look over there!

SAWATARI-SAN: Eh?

Dennis: That’s the boss.

SAWATARI-SAN: What?

Yuuya: He’s the boss?

Red-suit: Yuuya-san!

Green-suit: Are you okay?

Yuuya: Y-yeah.

Seems like he’s the only one who lives in luxury.

Red-suit: The boss of the prison has even more powers than the prison guards themselves.

(Chess Commercial. Brb)

Blond Prison Guard: All right, maggots! Make sure that this place is squeaky-clean!

Yuuya: Right now?

Crow: Hold on! We’ve just washed every inmate’s dishes just now!

Blond Prison Guard: Shut up and do it.

Blond Prison Guard: Cleaning the bathroom is the job of newbies!

Let me tell you in advance,

The boiler of the bathroom is shut down,

So even if you want to take a shower while you’re cleaning, you’re just gonna get cold water.

Prisoner 1: Um…I’ve had a cold since the morning.

Yuuya: A card?

Prisoner 2: I’ve got muscular pain!

Prisoner 3: I’ve got malnutrition!

Prisoner 4: My eyes are tired!

Blond Prison Guard: You guys can go.

Prisoners: Thank you so much!

Blond Prison Guard: I’ll leave this up to you guys.

Yuuya: Wha-?

SAWATARI-SAN: Hey! This is clearly unfair!

Blond Prison Guard: Listen! If you can’t do it properly,

You’re gonna have to redo it.

SAWATARI-SAN: W-wait!

Damn.

What’s with that jabroni?’

Dennis: Didn’t they tell you?

Here, cards are the most important thing next to life.

In this world, cards are treated like money.

If you bribe the guards with cards,

They’ll give you better treatment.

Yuuya: So that’s why he gave us our decks back.

SAWATARI-SAN: If I knew that, I would have handed over my cards to get something decent to eat.

Yuuya: SAWATARI! Cards are not money!

Don’t use them just so that you’ll get better treatment!

Yuuya: Don’t tell me…

You two already did that?

Did you bribe them with cards?

Yuuya: Gongenzaka! I didn’t think you would use your cards for something like this!

Green-suit: That’s not it!

Big Bro Gon did it for us.

Red-suit: There was no other choice.

Yuuya: Huh?

GONGENZAKA: Don’t say anything unnecessary.

Red-suit: No! Please let us tell them!

Before we come here, we lost in a Duel

And our decks were taken away,

So we didn’t have a card on us.

Because of that, we got bullied day in day out.

Then, Big Bro Gon approaches the guard…

Blond Prison Guard: W-what do you want?

GONGENZAKA: Here’s some cards. Make sure that those two have a proper meal.

Red-suit: If he didn’t do that, right now, we would be…

Green-suit: Dennis-niisan also uses his cards…

Dennis: Make sure that those two have a bunch of stuff to eat!

Dennis: I can’t let Gon-chan be the only one who looks cool.

Yuuya: So that’s how it is.

However, it’s still wrong.

Using cards for something like that.

GONGENZAKA: Yeah. I know.

Blond Prison Guard: You’ve got an invitation. Come!

Yuuya: Invitation?

Tokumatsu’s Mook 1: You’re here. Our boss, Tokumatsu-san wants to personally see you.

Crow: Tokumatsu?

SAWATARI-SAN: He wants to personally see us? How arrogant!

Tokumatsu’s Mooks: What’s that!?

Dennis: Don’t try to get on their bad side.

It’ll only invite troubles.

Tokumatsu: Bring them out.

Tokumatsu’s Mook 1: Your cards! Bring out your cards!

Yuuya: Cards?

Tokumatsu’s Mook 1: If you want to live a luxurious life here, you’ve got to bring out some cards!

Yuuya: I refuse!

Tokumatsu’s Mook 1: What’s that?

GONGENZAKA: I also refuse!

I, GONGENZAKA, the man, refuse to give up even one card just to humor your boss!

Yuuya: We have to get out of here as soon as possible!

We’re not planning to live a luxurious life in this place!

Green-suit: ah! B-Big Bro!

GONGENZAKA: It’s okay. Just stay quiet.

Tokumatsu: Listen up. I’m the boss here.

In other words, I’m at the top of the food chain.

I make all the rules here.

You lot just have to follow them.

That’s just common sense in this world.

Yuuya: No!

Cards are supposed to be used for Dueling!

Tokumatsu: This kid doesn’t know his place at all…

Then, look over here!

Yuuya: That’s…

Tokumatsu: Do you know what these are?

These are the cards that I’ve collected from the people who lost to me over the course of ten years!

Yuuya: From Duelists who lost to you?

Tokumatsu: In this place, cards are the proof that shows you’re at the top.

Dueling is the proof of one’s power!

Yuuya: The proof of one’s power…

Wrong!

Duels are supposed to be fun!

Tokumatsu: What?

Tokumatsu’s Mook 2: Hahahaha! Fun, you say?

Boss, this kid just said that Duels are supposed to be fun!

Gyahahahaha!

Tokumatsu: Enough with your annoying laugh!

Tokumatsu’s Mook 2: S-sorry!

Tokumatsu: If you’ve just handed them over quietly, I would have let this slide.

But I’ve changed my mind.

Guard!

Blond Prison Guard: Yes, Yes, what can I do for you?

Tokumatsu: Bring us some Duel Disks.

We’re going to have a Duel.

Yuuya: Eh?

Blond Prison Guard: T-This is a rare card.

Sure thing! I’ll bring them right away!

Tokumatsu: Here, cards make the world go round.

You probably won’t understand it if I just tell you,

So I’ll make you understand through brute force!

You hear me!? So, prepare yourself!

I’m going to destroy you in this Duel!

Yuuya: As you wish!

Tokumatsu: You don’t know any manners, do you?

I will crush any bugs that try to rebel against the top!

Yuuya: That depends on whether you’re good enough or not!

Tokumatsu: Damned brat…

Let’s do this!

DUEL!

Shinji: Hey! That pose is…

Crow: Yeah. I’ve seen him somewhere before…

Tokumatsu: It’s my turn! I activate the Magic Card, Hana Awase, from my hand!

Due to its effect, I can Special Summon four Cardian monsters with 100 ATK from my Deck in Attack Position!

(Translator’s note: Since most of this Tokumatsu guy’s cards are based on a Japanese card game that use, well, Japanese terms, I’m just going to leave them untranslated in the actual script, but I’ll also provide literal translation as well.

Hana Awase: Match the Flowers!)

Tokumatsu: The monsters that I summoned are Cardian – Matsu, Susuki, Yanagi, and Kiri!

(Translator’s note:

Matsu Pine tree.

Susuki: Silver grass

Yanagi: Willow.

Kiri: Paulownia tree.)

SAWATARI-SAN: Summoning four monsters at the same time…

Tokumatsu: Then, I activate the Magic Card, Hanazumi, from my hand!

(Translator’s note: Hanazumi: Flower stack)

Tokumatsu: This card allows me to target three Cardian monsters in my deck, and then place them on the top of the Deck in any order.

The three Cardians I choose are, Susuki ni Tsuki, Kiri ni Houou, and Yanagi ni Ono no Michikaze.

(Translator’s note:

Susuki ni Tsuki: Grass and the moon.

Kiri ni Houou: Paulownia tree and the Phoenix.

Yanagi ni Ono no Michikaze : Willow and Ono no Michikaze (Yes, that’s a name))

Tokumatsu: Then, I activate the effect of the Cardian – Matsu ni Tsuru in my hand!

By releasing Matsu, I can Special Summon it from my hand!

Then, when this card is successfully Special Summoned, I can draw one card!

I activate the effect of the Susuki ni Tsuki card that I drew!

By releasing Susuki, I can Special Summon it!

When it is successfully Special Summoned, I can draw one card!

Then, I activate the effect of the Kiri ni Houou card that I drew!

By releasing Kiri, I can Special Summon it!

Likewise, when it is successfully Special Summoned, I can draw one card!

Then, I activate the effect of the Yanagi ni Ono no Michikaze card that I drew!

By releasing Yanagi, I can Special Summon it!

When it is successfully Special Summoned, I can draw one card!

(Translator’s note: Matsu ni Tsuru: Pine tree and crane)

Dennis: Amazing! He summoned four 2000-ATK monsters just like that!

Tokumatsu: The card that I drew is Cardian - Sakura ni Maku!

However, there is no Sakura card on the field, so I’ll have to send this card to the graveyard.

(Translator’s note: Sakura ni Maku: Cherry blossoms and curtain!)

Tokumatsu: Now then. There’s still more!

My trump card is about to arrive.

I activate the effect of Yanagi ni Ono no Michikaze!

When this card is used as a Synchro Material, I can make all of my monsters Level-2!

Here I go!

I’m tuning the Level-2 Matsu ni Tsuru, Susuki ni Tsuki, Kiri ni Houou with the Level-2 Yanagi ni Ono no Michikaze!

Rain of sorrow!

Become the light and rain down upon us!

Synchro Summon!

Come! Level-8! Cardian – Ameshikou!

(Translator’s note: Ameshikou: A very difficult to translate Japanese term, so f**k it. It literally means “One rain card, three light cards”)

Crow: He can even Synchro Summon on his first turn.

Tokumatsu: I set two cards facedown and end my turn.

Kid, I’ll tell you one more time.

Cards are the proof of being at the top!

Dueling is the proof of one’s power!

Yuuya: No matter how many times you tell me, my belief won’t change!

Duels are supposed to be fun! It’s my turn!

Tokumatsu: You’re too naïve, kid.

Ameshikou’s effect activates!

When my opponent draws a card, I can inflict 1500 damage!

GONGENZAKA: What?!

Dennis: Yuuya is going to take heavy damage every time he draws!

SAWATARi-SAN: He have to beat him before his Life runs out.

Yuuya: You’re not the only one who can summon many monsters at the same time!

Tokumatsu: What?

Yuuya: Using the Scale-3 Entermate Big Bite Turtle and the Scale-8 Timegazer Magician in my hand, I set the Pendulum Scale!

Tokumatsu: Ho?

You’re going to use this summon method in a corrupt place like this?

Yuuya: With this, I can simultaneously summon monsters from Level-4 to 7!

Tokumatsu’s mook 2: Simultaneously summon?

Yuuya: Swing! Pendulum of the Soul!

Draw an arc of light across the ether!

Pendulum Summon! Come, my monsters!

First off, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!

Next, Entermate Seesawhopper!

Then, Entermate Landlord Hermit Crab!

Tokumatsu: Hmph…Continuous Trap, No Cheaters Allowed.

I can activate it when my opponent controls monsters that were Special Summoned from the hand, and return them to the opponent’s hand!

Yuuya: What?

Dennis: My God!

He went through all that trouble to Pendulum Summon,

And now that’s counted as cheating!?

SAWATARI-SAN: So as long as that Trap Card is on the field, Pendulum Summon will be treated as cheating, huh…

Crow: And Tokumatsu also has Ameshikou on his field.

Yuuya will take 1500 damage every time he draws!

GONGENZAKA: Yuuya!

Tokumatsu: It seems like Dueling has changed during the ten years that I was here.

However, nobody has been able to defeat me during those ten years, so I’ll just crush you and that summon method with my Dueling!

(Preview for Episode 61)

Tokumatsu: I won’t draw!

Yuuya: Say what!?

If you’re not going to draw, how are you going to Duel!?

Tokumatsu: With Ameshikou’s effect, the next time you draw, you’ll take 1500 damage!

If you don’t want the rain of sorrow to drench you,

You’d better bring your umbrella!

Yuuya: Next time on Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V:

The Man Who Threw Away His Draws.

The fun has just begun!

Before going ahead and reading the script, I have to say Arc V is somewhat feeling like it is going slower than before.

[spoiler=Thoughts]

Issues I could think about.

-The prison is not as brutal as 5Ds' facility. The guards give them all their cards back and then slowly accept them as bribe? I was curious on if the Arc V gang would have to assemble a deck like Yusei did. It looks like they don't need to even stick to just owning their decks because Dennis and Gongenzaka had spare unrelated cards on them.

-The prisoners seem to have no attachment to their cards either, giving away random bosses from DT.

-While on it, I get that IRL prisons have people behaving like this, but shouldn't these prisoners have a little bit more unity? It looks like some of the guards and some of the prisoners are even allies against the rookies and stuff.... Out there in the city it looked as if most prisoners were hunted down and caged from a very harsh and corrupt regimen that all of them hate. Does that instantly not exist in the facility?

-Iirc in 5Ds all prisoners (or at least old man and spider guy) had their own clothes so Yusei keeping them wasn't all that much of an issue, but here it is pretty glaring to see all the gang stand out with their regular clothes while everybody else has prison attires. I can get past having to turn off my brain to accept the multi-dimensional Yuuya/Yuzu confusion from others despite different designs, but I don't have such an easy time extending that to these kinds of settings.

-That subplot of Shun underground dueling came to a dead end. I guess it wasn't pointless because Dennis vs Shun was an interesting concept to see, and it did serve as a way to wake some suspicion by Shun, but it still felt almost filler-y in regards to the ticket to the friendship cup.

-Finally, I'm still bothered by Sawatari and Serena. I expected their impatience and resolve meant that after deciding to leave Crow's place the way they did (you know, calling him a coward and talking big and all) they wouldn't be dumb enough to come back and put more people at risk.

I'm still kind of waiting for this arc to grow on me, but references aren't enough... I'm not sure what purpose Crow has here after he saved them or if we'll be looking at an actual duel from him, and the Speed World Neo's effect wasn't a great start either...

Haven't lost the faith in the arc yet though, it isn't something that harsh (still nowhere near ZeXal there xD ) despite pretty much all this post being negative.

[spoiler=Response]

I do agree this arc is going somewhat slower, but it's still pretty early into the arc. And it is coming on the heels of the whole Academia invading the Battle Royale and all the sheet that went down there, so by comparison, it's already got a tough act to follow, and right now, the main plot for the Synchro arc isn't yet even known fully.

We actually don't know if Dennis and Gogenzaka had unrelated cards to them. They might have given out cards that weren't of particular importance and could be replaced easily outside the prison, but I was getting the vibe that they can't actually Duel right now because they have less than 40 cards in their Deck now (unless Gogenzaka gave up his Synchros, which I doubt).

Also, while I did notice the clash of outfits among prisoners and the main characters, this could be because they haven't been officially charged and sentenced. They're just being held with the eventual intention of being interrogated by Jean-Michael. The script says that they were supposed to be put in isolated cells, and not with the rest of the community. This would justify their lack of prison attire.

I don't have an issue with Sawatari and Serena returning, as they left more because, frankly, they were bored of sitting around and just used the insulting comments to justify it. Serena promptly began looking for tough Duelists to possibly recruit, so she's at least thinking of the Lancers' mission. Sawatari less so. If anything, I'm just finding Sawatari annoying because he's NOT DOING ANYTHING. He's just acting all aggressively snobby, somehow oblivious to the fact that his father has no sway whatsoever in a different dimension, losing a Duel off-screen without showcasing any of his cards, talking way too much, and overall showing few of his traits that should have come with his character development. The only aspect that's carried over since his Yosenju rematch with Yuya was he's not outright malicious. In fact, this is almost a step backwards, because at least Sawatari was entertaining to watch between his first loss to Yuya and their rematch. He hasn't been entertaining since becoming a Lancer, just annoying.

I am a little disappointed about Crow, as well. Because he has had no REAL purpose. Sure, he saved Yuya and co from Security. Any random character could have done that. He disagrees with Yuya's stance on Duels. Any random character could have done that. I'm just not sure what he's doing in this arc right now. Maybe it's going to have a payoff, particularly when Jack becomes more important, but until then, he feels really out of place.

Rare cards can be used for bribing the prison guards / getting food.

That explains why Yuya and co. got little food, whereas some random guy got a proper portion (or even more).

Sawatari, you really need to know when to shut the hell up.

If this were in a real prison, you'd be getting your sorry ass kicked by now for flaunting your ego.

I was expecting another Armstrong in place of Chojiro (and for him to be similar to Bolt Tanner); guess not.

Hell, that guy has more rare cards that a lot of us would probably be dying to get for things.

The guy was eating a damn steak and had alcohol with him; what does that say about things in ARC-V prisons?

Chojiro uses a Hanafuda deck; if I actually understood how hanafuda worked, I'd probably understand the effects better.

It's also amusing to note that Chojiro was doing a yakuza pose or something [i can't remember what it's called; probably "jingi" or something)

(I recognize it from the cover of a Naruto graphic novel [19] and I vaguely remember Kishimoto saying something about it; but off-topic.)

Oh yeah, and did I see a reference to Wheelie Breakers from that security guard?

-----

I will read the script after this.

dat 60s spidey

Though it reminds me that Yuya got caught by that net (like a bug; Is that really Security's first-hand use of arresting?), and then suddenly was not in it anymore. I mean they could have taken it off to put him in cuffs but, all that effort though...

Before going ahead and reading the script, I have to say Arc V is somewhat feeling like it is going slower than before.

I agree with most of Sleepy's points here. I really don't get how the writers thought it was a good idea to have Shinji say that most inmates are Commons imprisoned on made-up charges and then show that everyone is a dick to the others with no purpose. Honestly, it'd have made more sense that actual criminals (the minority) would pick on the innocent Commons with the complicity of the guards, but it doesn't look like that. Other inmates are just jerks for the sake of being jerks. Dafuq? This is not how it works!

I think that Crow will be more important later. We haven't seen all of him yet.

The yakuza piece of sheet guy is annoying as hell tho. And I'm starting to get sick of how in-your-face the conflict between Yuya's ideals and others is becoming. I get it, egao and stuff, duels are for fun. Now please, can we GO ON WITH THE FREAKING PLOT? Seriously. Still, hoping that Yuya will squash that Yakuza funker. Tbh, it'd be fun as hell to see him lose all his cards :D

Admittedly, those cards seen as bribes are admittedly not very good. Barring Dewloren which was combo-centric, the other bosses we've seen distributed were gimmicky stuff from the earlier DT generatio--

Did Tokumatsu just dish out a Harpie's Feather Duster?! My condolences to whoever had to give that up.

Those Cardians draw and SS like some degenerate combo. At least he legitimately stacked them with a card effect.

Uhhhhhhhh...... Is that picture of Yuya in the duel runner suit with Jack legit? If so then we may get Jack vs Yuya. I wanted it to be Jack vs Declan but the first one is always welcome as well.

Yep is confirm that those two will be dueling in the near future, in epsiode 64

[spoiler=Addendum]I also don't like the "comedic" moments in this episode. They're very, very out of place. From Gongenzaka's cronies to the stupid (and unjustified) "pranks" of the other inmates, to the boss and his stupid poses and hamminess. It just makes an episode that should be grim and serious just... stupid.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 60 subbed]

- I can see why JMR wanted to isolate everyone, so that he can interrogate them personally.

- So Shun started a fight with other prisoners and was placed in solitary confinement. I thought he was placed in a separate cell from the get go

 - Speaking of... the guard who put Yuya and co in the cell, wasn't listening properly to his colleague who told him to put them in separate cells.

- Tokumatsu's comment when Yuya set the pendulum scales: "They use this kind of summoning method outside of here now?" It sounds like he has heard of it. Maybe he found out when Dennis and co arrived or something.

- Sawatari's inflated ego got on my nerves in this episode. He really needs to learn to shut up. I mean his threats are putting him in the "all bark and no bite" territory seeing as he is in a different dimension than his father.

[spoiler=60 subs]

Yup, the prisoners in here are definitely more of scumbags than those in the 5Ds Facility.

They throw toilet water on you, and then make you trip.

I'm assuming that's why Shun went to solitary confinement; they pulled that sheet on him and he decided to pound on them.

I'm actually jealous as all hell at Tokumatsu's pull; especially since he has cards that a ton of us dream about having (see Yuki Usagi).

If I am not mistaken, he threw a Harpie's Feather Duster or something at the guard for discs.

No Cheaters Allowed is stupid; I'm assuming that it's going to trigger whenever a monster gets SSed.

Considering Ameshiko is a 3K monster, taking it out + disabling the Trap will not be easy. (Or they could MST it, provided said card exists in their universe)

Add that to the fact the opponent gets heavy burn for drawing, and yeah Yuya is screwed.

So prisoners gave up their DT bosses (and other crap) for better food + skip out on chores.

I know Gongenzaka and Dennis did so their friends could have meals.

I reiterate my stance that Roger is a scumbag.

(Supposedly this fight counts as our ARC-V equivalent of Yusei vs Tanner; later, we'll probably see Yuya vs security guard or whoever is the head of the prison [officially])

Otherwise, RAW thoughts still apply.

[spoiler=About Sawatari]

Yeah, he needs to learn to shut his damn mouth.

Sawatari, your father is in another dimension; he can't help you and certainly his authority means NOTHING in Synchro Dimension.

I'd advise you learn to shut up, otherwise don't whine when the prisoners decide to beat your sorry ass.

(A bit harsh, I know, but it is rather true.)

[spoiler=Thoughts on Episode 60] I have about the same thoughts on this episode. Maybe the ninja and Renji will save everyone's butts though. That pile that boss has though... Insane.

[spoiler=Has no one noticed?]I just wanna say Gongenzaka PUNCHED about half his fist INTO A FRICKEN CONCRETE WALL!!! Just... Whoa. And I'm also sad he had to give away cards.

Maybe he could punch Sawatari.
