Chicken Race

The player with lesser LP takes no damage. Once per turn, during either player's Main Phase: The turn player can pay 1000 LP, then activate 1 of these effects. Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this effect's activation.
● Draw 1 card.
● Destroy this card.

● Your opponent gains 1000 LP.

So, I just realized this says no damage, not "no battle damage".

So what you're telling me is... If I'm in a poor position with D/D, I get draws and don't take covenant burn... and if I'm in a good position, I can just pop it with my excess LP and win?

Yeah, except your opponent won't let you set up and would more than likely pop the card themselves on their turn. Of course, you can yell and call em chicken for doing so.

if they pop it you still got a draw and you both lost 1K, which is usually better than upstart, and you hopefully have backup.

If they draw cards, you're still not in a terrible position because you get to draw the next turn.

It's win/win, more often than not.

It's always weird reading topics that you didn't see earlier versions of the OP in, because then half of what people say makes no sense. Then you reach the point where the text clearly had gotten updated because everyone starts vocally breathing sighs of relief.

This card is...very interesting, actually.

Earlier, this card said it only worked for the controller. a 1-sided, once per turn, 'Pay 1000 to draw 1' would be pretty damn crazy, if you think about it. Even without Exodia.

Black said it perfectly. You play this and draw. Your opponent draws as well? You draw once more next turn and the entire thing resets. They popped it? You just dug further into your deck and burned each player for 1k. It's not perfectly symmetrical, even if it looks like it. You will be favored while using this most of the time.
