So hey, I played Symmetra for a few hours now, and I figured she would be good on defense, as that's what she's suppose to do, I was surprised that she's somewhat decent on attack as well. She's not perfect, it's hard, and you pretty much need to built up the Shield Generator to get anywhere, especially on escort maps, where she has the most problems I feel, but it can definitely be done. Her auto aim is beastly, I knew it was powerful before, but now, you can just tank through guys, though I have learned that Reinhardt is able to kill you quite easily if he has full health, so use the balls at him before you try anything. Also, I love that I now have a super easy way to get rid of Pharahs, Genjis and Tracers, I hated dealing with those before. I do fear that people are going to call her broken right now and they will change her super fast, I don't think that's needed, people just have to learn that it's worth hunting down her Teleporter and Shield Generator.

So I spent the first day of the event at college and by the time I got back, I had to update it. So I didn't really get to delve into it until the day after.

I still have yet to get a holiday skin. How long does the event last?

Until the 2nd of January next year.

Yeah. I think they might've carried over these changes to the PS4 version, too. She now has a shield, can set up more turretsx and stronger weapon.

Until the 2nd of January next year.

Excellent! So I still might have time to get a holiday skin.

Ever since Wednesday, I haven't gotten much from the Loot Boxes. But just now, I got Torbjörn's holiday skin in the loot box!

I'm still undecided about the range buff for Symmetra, because it really wasn't needed THAT much, but everything else about the Symmetra changes makes her a more viable character.

Truly. Once on map Hanamura, I found myself dying to her a lot.

Increasing range helps her shoot through her photon barrier to actually charge her ult, which is really her selling point at the end of the day. It doesn't seem like much, but I'm pretty sure those 2 meters make a big difference with how her kit works now.

I honestly couldn't tell a difference between 5m and 7m. n.n

Also, who else heard about Doomfist today?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as2lyJZErUg

We don't know if he's ever coming into the game soon, but it has been proven that there will be a famous voice actor for Doomfist, so we can say that Doomfist will eventually be a part of the game.

I'm still skeptical about this. If he is in the game, it'd be a great addition; introducing a brand new character.

Also: I believe that was "For Whom the Bell Tolls" I heard in the Ragnaros bit of the video. Nice!

So I'm new to the game, and I plan on diving into it around Spring next year.  I've already fallen in love with Soldier 76, Reinhardt, and Mercy, but I don't want to split classes.

I think I'll stick to Solider 76 because he's so easy to pick up and play, and he feels very rewarding from what little I've played.  Other than that, if I have to, what tanks should I play?

I am so bad at it. I play as mei all the time in 3v3 so I'm used to being able to heal. Literally haven't gotten a kill yet.

I think I'll be playing it to get Loot Boxes. It's rather short, and you can get Loot Boxes after wins (I think a certain number), and in top of that, by Leveling up.

It mentions that you could hit them when they're trying to collect snow. I either do that or go behind them when they're not noticing (like when they're preoccupied with one of my teammates).

You absolutely need to split classes.

This game is focused heavily upon mid-game hero switching, with different heroes checking others. Having a "main" ultimately makes you a liability to your team. You may be the best damn 76 around, but that is going to help much against a Hanzo.

Aim to be capable in an array of heroes, so that you can serve your team in a variety of situations.

Reinhardt is an incredible tank. He supports your team wonderfully, and his shield helps both in offense and defense. His fire strike is effective against flankers, and his ultimate sets up wipes for your dps.

Beyond just DPS and tank, you should be capable in one or more support role as well. Lucio is invaluable to literally any team, as his heal and speed boost are crucial to team fights.

Mercy is good at single target heal, but assuming you can land your shots, Ana heals far faster, ranging from 75-150 ps compared to Mercy's 60 (I think I explained this better a few pages back). The upside to mercy essentially lies in her resurrection, which is quite possibly the best ultimate in the game.

Or just play zenyatta because ball is life.

Agreed. Sticking to only one hero isn't good. Even if you do, what happens if someone else chooses Soldier 76?

As for tanks, I use D. Va. She can block projectiles for a short amount of time, has inifinte firepower, can fly for a short amount of time, and her ultimate has her eject from her mech for an explosion that can harm all enemies within range (well, so long as they don't hide behind something). Plus, when she runs out of health, she escapes her deceased mech; so you still have a little time to bide.

So, I just started playing this game and I think I may be going to main Roadhog. Any advice for gittin gud at the Hog?

Overwatch isn't exactly the type of game where it's best to main someone. That doesn't necessarily mean you need to be an expert of each character; a couple to accustom yourself to different scenarios (perhaps a Tank, a Defense, a Healer, maybe a Sniper, and a regular Attacker). As for getting food with him: Perhaps use your chain on unsuspecting enemies (enemies that don't notice you). Heal when you're low on health (preferably in an area with no enemies or during the fire to stall). And a healer helping you out is usually nice.

Always account for a little bit of latency when trying to use his hook. Because sometimes you'll aim at someone and then the next second they won't be there, so it's best to try and predict where someone is going when trying to hook them.

That being said, Roadhog's hook is broken right now, so.....yeah.

Also, his ult can instantly shred through barriers so if you're facing an annoying Reinhardt that's blocking everything, just use your ult to pretty much instantly get rid of it.

Speaking of Roadhog, I also got his Christmas skin in a Loot Box!

Not sure how long the stay in group option has been around, but yesterday, our team won, and most wanted to stay in a group. We spent well over an hour together before we lost a game. Even when we did lose, the majority still wanted to stick together. Sadly, I had tasks to attend to. I don't think I'll find another group like that again.
