Pocket Monsters: Sun & Moon

Recommended Posts

Well, the Dragon trial had no captain to begin with (yes, Mina exists but she didn't have a trial; or not until postgame anyway if you want to class her battle as such; she just casually gives you Fairium and walks away). Ghost might happen, but Acerola or whoever's a long ways into the future.

I still take issue with this. This was one of the lamest things in Gen 7.

Anyway, Gladion having night form means Ash will for sure be getting day. I like that they are playing up the night theme to him while also playing into him getting friendship evos.

We still don't have subs for the past month worth of episodes; must be a busy time for subbers or they're being lazy.

[spoiler=episode stuff]

  • Ash starts to learn how to perform Corkscrew Crash
  • Team Rocket gets the Darkinium Z, but haven't learned how to perform it yet. Right, and no actual Z-Ring.

[spoiler Whoa whoa whoa]

Corkscrew  Crash? He doesn't have any Steelium Z.

And do any of TR's new pokemon know ANY dark type moves?

Yeah, this kinda reminds me of the Unfezant incident in Gen 5.

[spoiler=Because Astro thought it was a good idea to quote me]

  • No, Ash does not have the Steelium Z crystal. He's only learning the moves to perform it.
  • As for Team Rocket, as far as we know, no. Closest one is Mimikyu, but I don't think it knows Feint Attack / Thief / Fling; there's Dark Pulse, but...

[spoiler Sorry]

  • Well, to be fair, Pikachu does know Iron Tail so maybe it use Corkscrew Crash.
  • We'll have to wait and see.

And like I said, Pallosand and Sandman from Spider Man go hand in hand.

As for the Unfezant incident, I'll explain:

Back in Gen 5 anime Unova, Skyla, the laziest gym leader ever, had a male Unfezant. Now Ash's Unfezant had some buildup leading to the eventual Skyla gym battle. First, Snivy's Attract didn't work on Ash's Pidove since they were both female. Ash used Pidove as his main flyer/scout. It evoved into Tranquill during the Venipede incident at Castilia City and finally during the bout between Tranquill and Skyla's Swanna, Tranquill evolved into a Female Unfezant.

This is basically a repeat of that, with Lillie's brother Gladion having a Midnight form Lycanroc so Ash will evolve his Rockruff into Mid Day Lycanroc.

To be fair, I think people were saying Ash would probs get Midday Lycanroc for a while. Gladion having Midnight pretty much cements the theory

EDIT: new episode titles;

Episode 971: The Fierce Pokébase Match! Aim for a Home Run to Turn the Tide!! (May 25th)
Episode 972: Hey Mush, Are You Going to Sleep in the Morelull Forest Too? (June 8th)

So there's a 1-week break on June 1st

In other news (whilst I go catch up on the new episode), corocoro stuff;

corocoro6171.jpg

it showcases new artwork from the movie as well as the rundown of the characters from the previous reveal. However, in it it does promise that, during next month's issue of CoroCoro, due for release on June 15th 2017, they will reveal shocking information about Marshadow. At time of writing, no information has officially been given about Marshadow's signature Z-Move, so it could potentially be referring to this.

You mean Soul Stealing 7 Star Strike? (Say that 5 times fast)

Also Marshadow was travelling with Ash the whole time? And if those two are the other two trainers from Pallet Town, why do they have Piplup and Lucario respectively?

So many questions...

Also, I hope there is a scene like this in the anime:

Lusamine is recovering from her little fusion episode and Wicke tells her: "You lost a lot of fluid, good and bad." referring to her blood and the Nihilego neurotoxin.

Wicke gives Gladion a dvd. A sort of will from Lusamine before she became corrupted, telling him "If anything should happen to me, you're in charge of the Aether foundation."

[spoiler=stuff about episode]

  • Sophocles just moves down the street [3 houses down]; not moving to the other islands or elsewhere.
    • Misunderstanding though, but everyone else gets it and happy he's staying around. [Of course, some people on Bulbapedia forums aren't happy, but you may consider them to be the overly-critical fans of this franchise]
      • He felt that everyone would be pissed that they got sorry for him and then faked leaving (entirely).
  • Ash should've probably kept the Charjabug, but meh.

Also, subbers are rather slow lately (or some legal issue came up)

There has to be some issue on the subber's end that is preventing them from subbing the episodes, but meh

[spoiler=Thoughts on SM025]
- This episode reminded me of the Team Rocket vs Team Flare episode where Ash n' friends had funk all screentime
- Rotom Pokédex sings a part of Pose (the ending) while listing the types of each Z-Crystal presented by Professor Kukui.
- Speaking of, they were practicing Z-move poses (Mallow; Grass, Sophocoles; Electric, Lana; Water, Ash; Steel)
- Team Skull unsurprisingly have no idea what or where Kanto is when Team Rocket told them where they're from
- The female Skull grunt wanted Meowth
- Successful blast offs for Team Rocket in Alola; 2 (Thanks to Totem Raticate)
- In the end Team Rocket obtain the Darkinium Z and Meowth makes a Z-Ring out of cardboard to put the Z-Crystal on

[spoiler=Thoughts on SM026]
- So Sophocoles is told that they were moving and gets frightened over it
- Although the fact that he was only moving down the street sapped some of the emotion, and so in a sense, the episode title can be considered a troll title post-airing
- First we had the overworld surfing sprite from gen 1, now we have the overworld plant sprite printed on a shirt (the other one being similar to the 20th anniversary logo)
- At least Sophocoles showed that he isn't useless during the battle with Charjabug
- Oh and we see Akala Island again

[spoiler=response]

Probably writers forgot she existed, like they do with the rest of the old cast.

[spoiler=SM027]

  • Ash gets saved a beating from Gladion.
  • Ash, you can't just randomly challenge some guy to a battle. You're lucky he even accepted it because of the Z-ring, albeit in the middle of the night.
  • He finds out that he can get the Rockium-Z from Olivia. (So Ash, when are you going?)
  • Something about Rockruff becoming a good Lycanroc later on.

Subbers are taking a while though.

There's nothing wrong with having a differing plot from the games. I'm sure things will pick up soon

The Pokémon Adventures manga is an example of a series having a somewhat differing plot with the main characters having different goals.

EDIT:

[spoiler=Thoughts on SM027]

- Ash learns that he can get the Rockium Z by beating Akala's grand trial... whenever the funk that happens

- Not surprised Ash's fight with Gladion was left unfinished tbph. Although people were rather salty that Team Rocket interrupted it in the first place.

- Ofc Bewear cockblocked the blast off (Trying to make up for SM025 it seems), though I'd have preferred the blast off given TR interrupted the fight

- Trivia: This is the first time Umbreon has used a dark-type move in the anime (and it only took 17 years)

- Also

[spoiler=Look at the laziness]

DAHGYLQUIAAai8b.jpg

Look at the 4 peeps on the right and the 4 peeps on the left

EDIT (Tuesday): episode 21 has finally been subbed

EDIT (Wednesday): It has been confirmed that, ahead of its opening in Japan in July 15th, the upcoming movie, Pokémon! I Choose You will hold its World Premiere on Thursday July 6th at the Japan Expo 2017 event in Paris, France.

[spoiler=SM028]
I probably shouldn't be surprised that baseball came up in this episode given popularity in Japan.

Also, for those of you who want to know what ʻOluʻolu means in English, it means "caring, pleasant, etc." Partly had to look it up on the Hawaiian dictionary, and also a reminder from the English translation of a song I hear somewhat often in this state.

http://wehewehe.org/gsdl2.85/cgi-bin/hdict?a=q&r=1&hs=1&m=-1&o=-1&e=p-11000-00---off-0hdict--00-1----0-10-0---0---0direct-10-ED--4-------0-1lpm--11-haw-Zz-1---Zz-1-home---00-3-1-00-0--4----0-0-11-00-0utfZz-8-00&q=%CA%BBOlu%CA%BBolu&j=pm&af=1&fqf=ED

So anyway...

  • Ash and Kiawe decide to yell out their Z-moves when pitching / batting; okay.
    • That being said, Ash missed all of them.
  • Whose bright idea was it to put a clearly homicidal Mimikyu as a pitcher against Pikachu? (You can figure out why this was said)
  • Use Z-move to make Snorlax run like crazy; oh and flattened Wobbuffet.
  • Team Rocket just played baseball today and not stealing anything.

And yeah, they finally subbed XY021. Nothing much that wasn't already said two months ago:

[spoiler=stuff]

  • Yeah, let's continue to assume Stoutland actually died because Kukui said "don't ask what happened" when Rotom queried him.
    • Bulbapedia will continue to say "it vanished", even though it's implied that it was death. (Also why they muted the conversation.)
  • Stoutland wasn't ill or anything, but just old and about to pass on.

tl;dr, just say Stoutland passed away off-screen and we're good.

Shame we have to wait two weeks though (gives me enough time to watch this episode)

Right? Most uniforms only numbers that are two digits.

Most regulation uniforms, yeah whereas custom ones are fair game

EDIT (Tuesday 30th) new episode title

Episode 973: Lillie, Take Good Care of Pikachu! (June 15th)

Turns out the previous titles I edited this post with were fake unsurprisingly. As for this one, I'm assuming Pikachu gets sick or something and needs specialist medicine.

SM022 finally got subbed.

[spoiler=SM022 sub thoughts]

  • OK, now who was the one foolish enough to knock off the shovel off Sandygast's head? Or for that matter, prodding the thing in the first place?
  • As much as I want to say "Ash, Mallow, both of you have Grass-types, why the hell didn't you use them?", I don't know if Steenee actually knows any offensive Grass attacks and Rowlett literally only knows Leafage.
    • You literally made Shiron/Snowball kill itself just to freeze it, and Powder Snow technically isn't good.
    • Then again, you go too hard and then Ash gets caught in the crossfire. (Tell me, Ash, why didn't you use your brain and get away from Palossand when commanded to?)
  • Ash decides to headbutt ice with his head.
  • Blame Magikarp and Corsola for interrupting the shovel retrieval operation.
  • So...picking up the shovel literally makes the people build a giant sand castle until the next morning. I guess that makes sense somewhat.

I realize how critical I am of Ash at this point, but yeah, he could've avoided being trapped if he told Pikachu/Rockruff to not prod the shovel.
