ZARC IS BACK

Last Time’s Egao Count: 247

Yuri: Continuous Trap, Dragon Vines, activate!

Yuya: AAAHHH!
Stop it!

Operator: Arc-V has been activated!

Leo: The fusion of the dimensions has begun…

Narrator: The world is divided into four dimensions.
Across these dimensions, there are four boys, who all share the same face,
And the dragons they possess call out to one another,
As if seeking out each other…

(Opening Sequence)

Sora: We should be able to reach where Yuya and the others are soon…

Edo: What the!?

Sora: This is…
The space is…The world around us is…

Kaito: Shun! Where are you!?
Say something!

Captain Falcon: Just what on earth is happening now?

Operator: Arc-V’s activation has been confirmed!
We’ve also detected distortions in the Fusion Dimension!

Leo: Well done!

Leo: From now on, Arc-V will expand and consume the Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Standard Dimensions.
Then, those four dimensions will merge inside Arc-V,
And the original unified world will be revived!
And then…
And then…
Ray…
My daughter, who was split into four girls…
Will become one again, and revive!
Until then, I have to delay their fusion.

Leo: Until I can obtain the four cards that will revive along with Ray…

Leo: Hurry up and prepare the isolation dome!

Operator: Yes, sir!

Reiji: The space around us is being distorted…
Arc-V has activated,
And the fusion of the dimensions has begun…

Reira: EHH!?

Yuri: Your trusty Dark Rebellion is now mine!
There’s nothing you can do now!
Why don’t you surrender?

Yuya: No!
I will…
I will never…

Yuya: AAAHHH!
STOP IT!

Yuri: If you want it to stop, you can simply surrender.
And then…You will be mine!

Yuri: Come on, say it!
Admit that you’ve lost!
Say that you want to become one with me!

Yuya: No…
I…I…

Yuto: We shall now become one!

Yugo: We shall now become one!

Yuri: We shall now become one!

Yuri-go-to: We shall now become one…
We shall now become one…
We shall now become one…
WE SHALL NOW BECOME ONE!

Yuya: We shall now…

Reiji: Yuya!

Yuya: AAAAHHHHHH!

Yuri: That’s good, Yuya!
Of course, you wouldn’t want anyone to interrupt this!
This is a problem between you and me!

Reiji: Don’t lose yourself, Yuya!
Your father, Sakaki Yusho, carried out his Dueling until his last moments!

Yuya: Dad…

Reiji: That’s right!
Remember his words…
Don’t let his efforts go to waste!

Yusho: Smile, Yuya. (Egao Count: 247+1=248)

Yuya: Dad…

Yuri: He’s irrelevant.
You shouldn’t care about your father.

Yuri: Just follow your own heart and desires!

Yuya: Follow my heart…

Yuri: Exactly!
What you really want is becoming one with me!
Just obey that desire!
Come on! Come over here!
Everyone is waiting for you!

Yuto: We shall now become one…

Yugo: We shall now become one…

Yuri: We shall now…
BECOME ONE!

Yuya: I…I…

Reiji: Don’t! Yuya! Don’t go to him!

Yuya: I…

Reiji: DON’T DO IT!

Yuya: I set one card face-down, and end my turn!

Reiji: Yuya…

Yuya: At this moment, the Continuous Trap, Starlight Force, will be destroyed.
Clear Wing and Starve Venom’s Levels return to normal,
And they also get their Monster Effects back.

Yuri: Setting a card…
You’re still going to resist, huh?
Are you sure about that?

Yuya: Yeah.
I won’t give up until the very end!

Yuri: ‘kay, then.
Then, I have no other choice.

Yuri: I wanted to end this in a peaceful manner,
But since you clearly don’t want to,
I’ll have to thoroughly crush you!
It’s my turn!

Yuri: I attack Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon with Starve Venom Fusion Dragon!

Yuya: AAH!

Yuri: Hmm? Ehehe…
Next, I attack directly with Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!

Yuya: Action Magic: Evasion!
The attack is negated!

Yuri: Not gonna happen!
Action Magic: No Action!
It negates the activation of an Action Magic, and destroys it!

Yuri: You have nothing to protect yourself with now!

Operator: The power level is stabilized!
All circuits have been connected!
The system is functioning normally!
The isolation dome is ready!
We can start it any time!

Leo: Good.

Yuri: All right!
Go! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!

Yuya: AAAHHH!

Reiji: Yuya!

Yuri: All right…It won’t be long.
It won’t be long before you and I become one!

Leo: Activate the isolation dome!

Yuya: AAAAHHHH!

Yuri: Ahahahahaha!

Reiji: This is…

Edo: Just what is this…

Sora: That’s…!
The Earth!

Leo: Until Ray and the four cards are revived,
I cannot allow Zarc’s fragments, Yuya and Yuri, to enter Arc-V!

Reiji: Yuya!
Yuya! Are you all right!?

Reira: I can’t hear her…
I can no longer hear Ray’s voice…

Reiji: What!?

Reiji: Yuya!

Edo: Just what on earth is happening!?

Leo: What’s going on…
Why hasn’t Ray revived yet?

Leo: Are there any signs of life in the core?

Operator: We can’t confirm anything…

Leo: Hurry…Hurry up and revive, Ray!

Sora: Yuya’s Dad !?

Edo: Even Sakaki Yusho himself is defeated by Yuri!?

Yuri: Yup! That’s right.
He tried to get in our way, even though Yuya wanted to become one with me!

Yuya: I never wanted to do that!

Reiji: Yuya…

Yuya: I will never become one with you!

Yuri: However, I can take you down in one shot!

Reiji: Yuya…

Yuri: Sorry…But this is a battle between the two of us.
I won’t let you interfere!

Reiji and co.: AAAAAHHHHHH!

Yuri: I’ll finish you off with the monster I stole from you.
Yup.
With Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!

Edo: Can Yuya really win?

Reiji:  He still has a set card.
The only thing he can rely on now is that card.

Yuya: Dad…

Yuri: All right, here I go!
I attack Yuya directly with Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!

Yuri: Action Card?
Then, I’ll get one as well!

Yuya: By discarding a Magic Card from my hand…

Yuri: Action Magic: Crush Action!

Yuri: During this turn, Action Magic cards added to both players’ hands will be destroyed, so they can’t be activated!

Reira: Yuya!

Sora: Watch out!

Yuya: I send a Magic Card from my hand to the Graveyard…
By sending it to the Graveyard,
I can activate the Trap Card, Farewell!
During this turn, the effects of all monsters on the Field will be negated, and the Battle Phase will be skipped!

Yuri: Aren’t you stubborn?
Then, I’ll save the finishing blow for later.
I set two cards face-down, and end my turn.

Reiji: Yuya?

Edo: What’s wrong?

Sora: Even though he managed to get out of a pinch…

Yuya: Dad…

Yuya: Wait!
Wait! Dad!
Don’t go!

Yuya: I’m sorry!
I’m sorry, Dad!

Reiji: What’s wrong, Yuya!?
Why are you apologizing to your father!?

Yuya: I…I had Smile World until just now… (Egao Count: 248+1=249)
Dad was watching over me,
That’s why I didn’t give in to the demon’s temptation.
And yet, I…threw away Smile World… (Egao Count: 249+1=250)
I threw away the card I received from Dad!
AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

(ZETSUBOU commercial. Brb)

Kaito: Shun is somewhere in here…

Captain Falcon: Kaito!

Kaito: Shun!

Captain Falcon: Where are the others?

Kaito: Edo and a kid named Sora are looking for Yuri.

Captain Falcon: What about Yuya?
Did you find Yuya!?

Yuya: If I lose Smile World… (Egao Count: 250+1=251)
If Dad does not watch over me…
I’ll…I’ll…

Reiji: Don’t become a demon!
Your father, Sakaki Yusho, carried out his Dueling until the very end!

Reiji: Yuya! You must carry out your own Dueling as well!

Yuya: My…Dueling?

Reiji: Exactly!
Your Dueling doesn’t have to rely on Smile World! (Egao Count: 251+1=252)
Just Duel your way!

Reiji: You have your own Dueling style, as the creator of Pendulum! Sakaki Yuya!

Reiji: As long as you Duel your way,
You won’t become a demon!
And Zarc won’t revive!

Reiji: You will defeat Yuri, and save the world!

Yuya: Save the world!?

Reiji: That’s right!
I believe in you!

Reira: Me, too!

Edo: I also believe in you!

Sora: I believe in you! Yuya!

Reiji: I…No, we will entrust the future of the world to you!
We’re counting on you, Yuya!

Yuya: Reiji…
Everyone…

Yuri: AHAHAHAHAHA!
My, my!
I’m so moved!
That was a splendid display of friendship.
The lines are a bit clichéd, though.

Yuri: But I’m glad.
Thanks to that, now, I’m even more motivated!
I’ll be frustrated if it just ends with a corny scene like that.

Yuya: I will carry out my Dueling!
Just like Dad!

Edo: Go for it, Yuya!

Sora: Kick that guy’s butt!

Reiji: Yuya! Just concentrate on winning for now!

Yuya: Winning…
It’s my turn!

Yuya: I’m the creator of Pendulum Summon.
I believe in you guys, who were created together with Pendulum!

Yuya: Using the already set Pendulum Scales, I Pendulum Summon!
From my hand, Entermate Trap Mimic!
Entermate Flat Rat!
Then, revive from the Extra Deck!
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!

Yuri: Summoning Odd-Eyes again…
You never learn. Ahahaha!

Yuya: Ahh…
Don’t think about unnecessary stuff…
Just focus on winning for now.

Yuya: When Trap Mimic is successfully Special Summoned,
It can destroy a Continuous Trap on my opponent’s Field!
I’ll destroy Dragon Vines!

Reira: He got Dark Rebellion back!

Yuya: Then, Trap Mimic can copy the effect of the destroyed card and activate it!
Using Dragon Vines’s effect, which Trap Mimic copied,
I can take control of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!

Yuya: Since Trap Mimic used its effect,
It will be moved to the Magic & Trap Zone.

Edo: He got Yugo’s dragon as well!

Reiji: I can see it.
Yuya’s path to victory!

Reira: I can see it as well!
Dark Rebellion can halve the ATK of an opposing Level-5 or above monster,
And add the lost amount to its ATK!

Edo: If he uses Dark Rebellion’s effect twice…

Sora: Yuya will win!

Yuri: I won’t allow that!
Trap, activate!
Predator Plant Reborn!
I can Special Summon a Predator Plant from the Graveyard!

Yuri: Return in Defense Position!
Stapelia Worm!

Yuri: Once per turn, when a monster’s ATK is modified, Stapelia Worm can negate it, and the card that activated it will be destroyed!
If you want to lose Dark Rebellion, be my guest!

Yuya: I activate Flat Rat’s effect!
When a monster is summoned or Special Summoned,
Its Level will become the same as Flat Rat’s, 5!

Yuya: Then, I detach one of Dark Rebellion’s Overlay Units,
And activate its effect!
Treason Discharge!

Yuri: I activate Stapelia Worm’s effect!
I’ll destroy Dark Rebellion!

Yuya: At this moment, I activate Clear Wing Synchro Dragon’s effect!
When a Level-5 or above monster activates its effect,
I can negate that effect, and destroy it!
And the ATK of the destroyed monster will be added to Clear Wing’s ATK.

Yuri: Tsk…

Yuya: Furthermore, since Stapelia Worm was destroyed,
Dark Rebellion can activate its effect!
Starve Venom’s ATK will be halved,
And the lost amount is added to Dark Rebellion’s ATK!

Edo: Yugo is helping him!

Sora: And Yuto, as well!

Reira: The two of them have come back along with the dragons!
As our allies!

Reiji: Do it, Yuya!

Yuya: I detach Dark Rebellion’s second Overlay Unit!
Treason Discharge!

Edo: Yes! This is it!

Sora: He can win with this!

Reiji: Defeat Yuri!

Yuri: This isn’t over yet!
Trap, activate!
Ridicule World!
All monsters on my opponent’s Field gain 100 ATK!

Yuri: Due to this, monsters with ATKs higher than their original ATKs cannot attack this turn.

Yuri: How’s that!?
You can’t do anything now!
GAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yuya: When the ATK of a monster on the Field is modified,
I can release Flat Rat, and return the ATK of one monster to normal!

Yuri: It’s no use!
No matter which dragon you choose,
The moment Starve Venom is destroyed,
Its effect will activate.
All your dragons will be destroyed, and you’ll receive damage equal to their ATKs!
You’ll lose!

Yuya: That’s only possible if you still have Life, right?

Yuri: Eh?

Yuya: I’ll return Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon’s ATK to normal!

Yuya: Battle!
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!
Attack Starve Venom Fusion Dragon!
Spiral Strike Burst!

Yuya: When Odd-Eyes battles a Level-5 or above monster,
The battle damage will be doubled!
Reaction Force!

Yuri: I’m…losing?
Ha…hahaha!
Hahahahahaha!

Reira: Yuya!

Sora: He did it!

Edo: He won!

Reiji: All that’s left is…

Yuri: I lost.
To think that I’d lose…
But I’m glad you are the first one to defeat me.
Because you are me…
Take it.
You want it back, right?
Feel free to absorb me.

Reiji: Yuya won’t do that!
He won’t become a demon!

Sora: Yugo and Yuto must feel the same as well!
That’s why they helped Yuya in the Duel!

Edo: You should reject the darkness as well!
Cut yourself loose from Zarc’s curse!

Yuya: I won.
I only focused on winning…And I won.

Reira: Yuya!?

Yuya: JUST AS YOU ALL WANTED!
And I will keep on winning!
Until I destroy everything in the world!

Reiji: What is that?

Yuya: Rule over space and time, my Astrograph Magician!
With your unfathomable power,
Overlay our desires together!

Edo: This is…

Sora: What’s going on?

Reira: That’s…!

Reiji: That is…

(Preview for Episode 136)

Zarc: My name is Zarc!
I have finally been revived!

Sora: Answer me!
What happened to Yuya! Are you controlling Yuya!?

Zarc: This majestic form is my original form!
Sakaki Yuya is my fragment, who has aided my revival!
Behold, insects!
Witness my unparalleled, supreme power!
And realize how pitiful your existence is!

Yuya: Next time on Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V:
Reign of the Supreme Dragon King
The fun has just begun!

  • Yuya won, but becomes Zarc in the end otherwise. (Well, it wouldn't have mattered who won, because he'd revive anyway)
  • Discarding Smile World to save yourself? Yeah, that's pretty much the symbolic representation of casting away your father (ironically, the card he discarded for was "Farewell" so...)
  • Reiji inadvertently encouraged Zarc to awaken by telling him (Yuya) to only focus on winning. (Well, that'll do it)
  • Hey Leo, your isolation barrier didn't really work as Zarc ended up being revived in the end before Ray came about.

From this point on, the climax starts.

Yeah, about 14-15 left at most; not including any days off due to Japanese holidays or some other sporting event that took up the timeslot (or some other show overstepped its own).

At this point, plot will revolve around trying to save the world from Zarc (and die trying) for the chunk of it, then probably some episodes to warm down (idk, probable final duel with Yuya and his father; assuming that things go well and they are able to rescue Yuya from being Zarc) and then ARC-V is done. By then, we'll likely have a better idea of what the new series will look like.

Maybe it will be a clash between demon Yuya and Angel Zuzu. If Ray is going to be revived she will need a more angelic appearance to compliment the demon Yuya has become.

FINALLY got around to catching up on Arc-V

[spoiler=Thoughts on 132 Subbed]

- Yuri told Yugo that he isn't like all the others he cardified (No sheet) and admitted that if he knew beating him was gonna be that fun, he'd have done it sooner and apologised for treating him like an annoyance. (That'll do it)
- Not gonna lie, I'm kinda not surprised that Reiji underestimated Reira and admitted that he didn't think Reira would surpass him.
- Yusho deducing what Yuri's trump card was judging by Yuri's words was impressive tbph.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 133 Subbed (aka Initial Thoughts)]
- At least Yusho's dueling returned Yuya to normal... albeit temporarily.
- Not gonna lie, when Yuri said "if you can pull that off, I'll applaud you." I was like "Yeah... my bs detector is going off."
- RIP Rin and Synchro Dimension
- That'll do it, Yuri telling Yusho that Super Poly wasn't his trump card, not that it was a surprise tbph.
- I will say this though, Yuri's Fruit/Flower combo reminded me of when Yugi used Berserk Soul on Weevil, ofc Yuri would do that, he wanted to have as much fun as possible.
- Ofc Yusho got cardified and pushed Yuya over the edge.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 134 Subbed (aka Initial Thoughts)]
- It's commendable that Yuya is trying to endure the coming darkness (With help from the Smile World in his hand), but Ray says via Reira that Zarc's revival is inevitable
- Whilst Yuto said it was possible that Yuya could win with DRXD with the other dragon's effects gone, but Yuya had hesitations bringing it out in case absolute darkness took hold, but Yuto reassured him that Smile World would protect Yuya.
- My god, that trap card that took DRXD is plot devicey as funk
- And finally RIP Serena, activating Arc-V

[spoiler=Thoughts on 135 Subbed (aka Initial Thoughts)]
- So with Arc-V's activation, the Fusion Dimension starts to distort and Leo sets up the Isolation Dome so that the Yu boys don't enter Arc-V as Ray hadn't revived yet.
- So as the darkness consumes Yuya, Reiji reminds Yuya to not waste Yusho's ideals, only for Yuri to argue that as nonsense and that Yuya isn't being honest with his feelings.
- After discarding Smile World, Yuya despaired that Yusho isn't watching over him now because he threw it away, only for Reiji to tell him that he doesn't need Smile World and focus on winning the duel. (Way to inadvertently encourage Zarc's revival Reiji)
- Ofc Yuya won... which in turn caused Zarc's revival, not that it really mattered who won as it was gonna happen anyway.

[spoiler=Episode 135 thoughts]

Okay, Yuri was TOTALLY flirting with Yuya after he lost. I mean, seriously, the way he was talking it clearly sounded like they were gonna bang or something.

Also, Yuri got GINORMOUS eyes when he activated Predator Reborn. I thought it was hilarious for some reason.

[spoiler=Response]

I dunno what to make of that given they're parts of Zarc (selfcest maybe?), but I can't get the image of the two banging out of my head.

CROW'S BACK?!?

[spoiler=Response]

Yeah, I'm also in the WTF club as he was cardified. Though I'm amazed Sawatari got his D-Disk repaired, though to be fair he has been off-screen for like 10-odd episodes.

Wait, I seem to remember Aster saying something about being able to reverse-cardify people in the Xyz arc. Or am I misremembering things?

[spoiler=Response]

What's funny about this, to me, is that just the other day, I was musing about the pattern. After Zarc revived, the first Duelists to fight him were Sora and Edo. They're both Fusion Dimension allies. Then Shun and Kaito. Those are the Xyz Dimension allies. Then I was musing about who might go next. But then I realized the only Synchro Dimension allies were Jack and Crow. And...yeah.

But the pattern continues now with that image. Gogenzaka and Sawatari are Standard Dimension allies. And then Reiji and Reira, who are kind of like the "leaders" (Reiji more than Reira, but they're connected all the same).

[spoiler=Response]

Yeah, Crow was carded during the fight against the Battle Beast, so asked self "how the hell did he get un-carded"? I guess they found a way to undo it.

Sawatari had disc broken, so suppose he's coming back now (but he's been out of action for a while).

Let's see how this turns out.

[spoiler=Response Part 2]

While it would be easy to make a justification as to how Crow got uncarded, and even possibly the issue with Sawatari's Disk (assuming they don't just literally give him a spare Academia Disk or something), it has a different problem entirely if they really do go that route.

It means that the Battle Beast chapter was completely pointless. Like, they screwed this up SO badly. It started off decent, showing off Academia's ruthless way of training Duel soldiers, by having them fight with the explicit knowledge that even the other students would be at risk of being carded. Then they had the Battle Beast take out all the Students and Tsukikage, and then had him card Crow, who sacrificed himself to protect Sawatari by damaging his Disk.

To avenge Crow, Gogenzaka and Yuya fought, and Gogenzaka sacrificed himself to protect Yuya, and was spared by Jack's timely arrival, and then had Sanders interrupt the Duel to join, only to be double crossed by BB, which was extremely fitting.

BUT...then Yuya turned the whole thing into a farce. Like, it was awful. One of his worst displays of "out-of-place Entertainment that miraculously works".

So they already ruined BB's credibility in the Duel itself. But by undoing the MEANINGFUL impact of the situation, by uncarding Crow, they erased the whole point of the BB chapter in the first place, making it a little transparent that they only "killed off" Crow as a sucker punch to the audience. Maybe they underestimated how much the audience would be pissed off about him being carded in the first place, and this is them trying to make amends. But it's poor writing regardless, and implies that the regular Academia members might have access to the uncarding process, which I previously had chosen to assume only Leo had access to (prior to Leo's noble, but immoral agenda being revealed).

[spoiler=stuff]

Yeah, I was disappointed in the Battle Beast arc. Not so much with BB (well, partly because he started off good), but mostly with Yuya's entertainment and how he could somehow turn the entire Academia on his side. That was cringeworthy (well, this generally applies to a lot of moments where he just superimposes his circus acts in places where it is not needed).

I can't blame Japan for seeing those episodes as the worst, because they were legitimately bad because of Yuya and the forced entertainment ruining the hell out of it.

If they do make an explanation, or really in this case regardless, the BB episodes only give us a back look at what Duel Academia does to its students and post-GX support for Gladiator Beasts.

[spoiler=General Thoughts on Arc V]

Yuya has been falling off for me overall for a while now. I think his entertainment mindset is shooting it all on the foot.

Before we got a clear reveal of what Zarc and his counterparts are exactly, I had been hoping Yuya's parents were aware of whatever backstory was going to happen, and that was why they had chosen to hammer in their non-hateful ever-so-happy-go-lucky attitude about dueling to Yuya, even when to me it was a tad forced that his mom told him to still be like that after Yuzu had just been kidnapped.

Then Yuya hit the reset button, and went from an epic duel with Reiji before becoming a lancer, to trying to be entertaining with very inferior moves and getting his ass kicked by security grunts.

I confess Yuya's second duel with Aster is where I dropped following the series up. Before that second duel started to be more precise. I can't quite think why that point in particular, but anyways... I don't know in detail how much it has gotten better or worse ever since, I watch some episodes here and there and read about the others. So the Synchro arc was dragged and stretched as much as it did, yet the Xyz arc felt so small and lasted almost nothing. Aster was a super high ranked commander but felt no bigger than some gang terrorizing a neighborhood. Then of course Yuya makes people war soldiers to switch bands despite their loyalty having previously made them essentially kill for it. It isn't a case of "I'm so impressed by the small odds Yuya had" but rather it makes you appreciate how small that shark looks from above after the jump.

Battle Beast suffers from the same entertainment treatment, but with extra issues. It's not that Crow is too popular to die, but rather it's not a proper sendoff looking at how they didn't even fully focus on the duel. Tsukikage too, his wasn't even shown, and then one realizes Tsukikage's deck hasn't grown at all despite how long he's been tagging along, and at the end his sendoff was barely glanced over and even pointless looking at how he didn't even show the audience the opponent's deck and would later be overshadowed by Crow's.

If Sawatari needed that kind of saving, he's not gonna get much better and is not gonna contribute much from now on. From the pattern of Zarc's opponents shown above, he's just gonna make for stalling....

The way I would have hoped to see this is by having at least one of the 5 academia students survive and tag with the main cast to take down the beast which was not in the plans. They are stretching a bit too much the idea that everybody can turn to the good side and there isn't "too far gone". I suppose they needed to show how Jack would help at the war other than meeting Zarc eventually.... Still could have done something for him, after all there's another small tendency of the show:

Yuya sometimes doesn't ever get to rematch. Serena's bodyguard (the one with Panther Warrior) immobilized Yuya and he was saved by Sergey of all people, then Yuya couldn't do a thing against Sergey either. After that Sergey dies elsewhere and Panther Warrior guy... has he ever appeared again at all? We then have bug-controlling guy who had a small arc dedicated to tracking him and even Aster seemed to be formulating a plan for this... bug-controlling guy was axed by his own boss.

Yuzu had so much potential. The idea that she would be hunted like that makes sense, but why did the writers go this route though? Throughout the years there's been this thing about female leads in Yugioh, which are particularly bad. Even Aki is not exactly a god-sent compared to the rest, though she is technically the best one. I guess it could be worse.... she could have been like Yuma's friend crew from ZeXal..... or any crew of cheerleading friends ever in Yugioh... but still.

Finally, I think the cameos were not necessary. I don't know what I expected originally, and for what it was it was alright I guess...
However, in retrospect it feels kind of half-assed. I would have rather seen new locations for the series OR for the other dimensions to go all out in being the other shows. Otherwise it'd either water down elements from the other series, and feel like they aren't giving it justice. For starters the Turbo Duels lost all features and were just one-tracked Action Duels that required motorcycles.

IDK... the show has its good points of course, but these are the things I have issues with....

Yeah, the BB arc wasn't that great, but I agree I suppose they wanted to show us one extreme of Academia's teachings.

I think the greatest issue with Arc-V is that they stretched out the Synchro Arc so long and so poorly that they abruptly realized how few episodes were left, and had to cram in as much  as possible. The Xyz and Fusion arcs are quite rushed (Xyz especially). This last arc is BETTER, with the BB thing being the biggest misstep.

My belief is that the writers had a storyboard and all that planned out and approved, and then at some point during the anime's development and such, the higher ups or whatever told them they had to trim something because they were only giving Arc-V 150 episodes (compared to say, 200 episodes). This, to me, makes the most sense, anyway. So now, they're trying to trim the remaining content they had planned, leading to developments being rushed.
